PK Brawl is back! So everyone who couldn’t make it to the first one due to vehicles asploding, vital organs failing etc. should get down to this one because its going to be mad funsies. Big HD TV, quality recorded matches, lots of space and room to crash the night. Also late night GTA IV hospital massacres woo!

: RULES :

* Singles Tournament, Double Elimination – Best of Threes *

* Maps: Neutral Only (FD, Battlefield, Yoshi’s, Smashville, Lylat, Delfino) *

* No Items – No BS Ruleset *

* Prize: $5 entrance split 80/20 1st + 2nd place *

If required we can arrange lifts from Warnbro train station, its real easy to get here so dont stress!

It is highly recommended that you bring your own controller.
We will supply chips and pepsi and arrange for pizza later on.
There is adequate space for anyone that would like to stay the night.

If you would like to help out and bring spare consoles, games or TVs we would much appreciate it!

Something that I've noticed in other tourney's is that the grand finals sometimes go for 5 rounds. What do yous reckon about that? Do you think it would be better or perhaps too long?

Rules for the tournament may have to be made on the fly to fit the amount of people and varying skill levels/difficulties. Most likely no money to be involved, unless by popular opinion.

Since there is less interest in GH3 than Brawl I will have to rely on word of mouth for participants. Tell your friends, tell your friends to tell their friends that they have no friends. =D

@cal - yeah im definately up for 5 round finals. i don't think time was really an issue last tourney and it would give the matches a more epic feel.

Yep, we're going on the 2-3 games approach, just to confirm - that means that instead of 1 game between each person to decide the movement on the brackets like we did last time, it is decided through a series of matches, with the best of 3 being the winner. I'm pretty sure that is what you mean but I could be horribly wrong, you might need to describe it if it's something else but i can say for sure that we will be having 2-3 matches per set.

Also, I just spoke to brax about counterpicks and we will be including them. I'm not 100% sure what list and format we'd be using just right now (that's up to brax) but I'm guessing that we'll be going with something such as the one Cao posted for the RAMBO event. Was there any changes that anyone thinks would be necessary for that list?

From what I recall, it was chosen to be banned because there's a small leaf at the bottom corner of the stage that became a camper's haven. Somebody could just sit there and wait for a character with no option but to approach them from the air, in which they would get SG'ed/gimped on the sides. Camping in any form can be done on any stage, but the Electroplankton stage is one of the extreme cases.

There might be some miscellaneous PC gaming going on later in the night, so bring your PC/lappy if you're in to that kind of thing. We'll have 2 TV's set up, but I can organise more if there are many people planning to show up.

In that case I'd definitely be up for it, I'm nearly finished with my uni semester (sooo many assignments due this week and the next ) and then i'm pretty much free to show up to everything whenever it's held .

Anyways about PK Brawl, i've been working on trying to put together a list of the people who can attend so far, but i'm a bit caught up trying to contact Rawt to get the list..

I'm working on a poster atm that I'm going to give to brax and see if he's able to give it to the people at Gametraders to put up on display tomorrow. There is probably more people than the list I have atm says but unfortunately I have no way to contact Rawt atm

Edit: Here it is, I didn't have much time to make it look brilliant or anything, but I think it does the job . Hopefully it'll appear at gametraders soon and bring some larger numbers in to our tournaments.

Entrance:
$5 to enter in to the tournament, if you don’t want to enter you are still welcome to come down and watch/play some non tournament matches.

Start time:
12 noon – it is recommended that you arrive at least half an hour early though, so we are able to begin on schedule, I will be there from 9:00 am setting up though along with a few others, so if you want to get some games in before the tourney starts feel free to arrive earlier.

Prize:
$5 entrance split 80/20 1st + 2nd place

Rules:

Each match will be 3 stock 7 minute time limit. Items are off.

Each set will be decided through a best of 3 series of games with the Advanced Slobs counter-picking system. The format of this system is as follows (please correct me if I’ve got it wrong, my knowledge of it is based on what I have read):

For the first game of the set, both players announce their character that they will be using without the other player knowing (optional).
The map is decided in one of two ways, if both players are able to agree on a neutral map then that one will be played, if the players are unable to agree on a map then it shall be decided through the game’s random function, which only contains maps on the neutral list.

For the second and third game, the format is a bit different. The loser of the previous game first picks the map that will be played, this can be from the neutral or counter-pick list. Once the map has been selected the winner of the previous game chooses their character, the loser – who has chosen the map – chooses their character last.

We will be having two televisions running the tournament matches this time around, in addition, both of these will be recording. The matches will be uploaded to youtube once they have been compiled. If you would like a match in uncompressed to higher quality either approach me on the day with a storage device (blank DVD or USB) and I will happily transfer the clips onto it for you. I can also arrange to upload compressed clips to filefront, just contact me via PM if you want one. Clips usually range from 80 to 190 mb is size, depending on their length.
