Only if you can relate the subjects back to American Cinema and Medieval Studies. If so, deal. Lol. I seriously don't feel like writing a 3,000 and 2,500 word essay on any of the topics offered by either subjects at the moment.

Real men do Politics. :p

if i dont come top 5 in melee and top 10 in brawl this ranbat; singles and teams, i'll cut myself.

Hey all,

I'm a Melee player hailing from Melbourne and just wondering if there is somebody who's willing to play with (or against, for that matter) me around these parts.

Me and two of my mates tried to come to the last Melbourne tournament but alas, it was not to be because my parents didn't let me. And unless they think that me and my friends could go around safely in the city (my parents watch a lot of the news) I doubt that I will make it to the future tournaments.

I checked out the list on the first post showing the people who I could contact for friendlies, but not sure who still plays Melee (after lurking around the forum for about 2 months, I assumed most of Australian smashers switched to Brawl). It would be awesome to have people to play with (or against) since I don't know anyone around here who plays Melee.

If there's anyone near Wheelers Hill willing to play a match or two then that would be awesome. Thanks!

How old are you by the way? If you're pretty young it would make sense for your folks to be controlling of you and not much can be done about that.

I think just about every Melbourne Smasher plays both Melee and Brawl; there are very few who are exclusively Brawl.

Anyways, I think it would be pretty hard for you to get people to play you, without you having first met some of the Smash crew. There are Smashfests in Glen Waverley every once in a blue moon, so that could be your best chance.

If you have MSN, add me caotic_kelvin@hotmail.com and we can talk more

Man I seriosld don't think that Melee is as epic 'cause some many of the older guys have such a firm grasp on the game that new kids can't pick it up.

I'm seriously thinking about two bracket for Melee for the vets and the no0bsz.

There's already vets and noobs in Brawl, it's no different to Melee, except that Brawl tricks people into believing they have a better chance vs. the good players... no. What I'm getting at is trying to expose both games to both audiences and get some cross-fertilisation happening. Anyone who is deterred by getting ***** in either Melee or Brawl aren't competitive to begin with, so it makes little difference in the long run. Everyone has to start somewhere and the drive to get better is fundamental to the Smash Community's sustainability.

New kids can't pick it up because they simply have not been given the chance to. Double elimination will assist with this and you haven't solved my original question grrrr! <3 X

i've played melee for ages, but never learnt all the AT stuff (wasn't into competitive play back then). so i played melee much like i play brawl. like many brawl haters say, brawl is generally alot easier to pick up and its relatively new (everyone has about 6 years headstart from me in melee).

perhaps i'll give it a try some time around but i barely have any time nowadays, especially with so many massive assignments being due within a few weeks.

perhaps i'll try over the summer break.

Yeah, my parents are probably not too strict but not too relaxed and I'm alright with that.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll watch out for the Glen Waverley Smashfest. When you mean once in a blue moon, when was the last time this was held?

Shaz and KO are an inseperable Melee duo, our highlight was beating Mike G and DA Dave on Brinstar <3 then then losing to some crappy Florida...
Bjay has dibs on me for Brawl.

Cobalt, I couldn't spot any $40 flights during a quick read through; but there were some $59 flights each way for around the mid next week until the week after. (Jetstar.com.au)

Virgin Blue has changed, I havn't seen a Virgin Blue flight less than $90 in a while.
