There is barely any "Sakurai bias" in this game, specifically Kid Icarus. The only one that kinda makes sense is Kirby not getting any stages after Kirby 64 or much music from other games. Kid Icarus though? Barely bias if you ask me. With characters, we have Pit and Palutana, the main characters. Then came Dark Pit, an alt. that was then planned to be a clone. So character choice reasonable. Items are equal to Mario and Zelda? Just shows how much the items work in a Smash setting. Stages? 1 new stage each version, Which makes sense for 3DS, while the Wii U gets a stage and a returning stage from Brawl. Enemys in Smash Run? Will admit, bit weird it has the most enemys, but this game came off the wake of Uprising, so importing enemys was easy (Though, a few can be taken out.) Trophys? All Smash run enemys get trophies, then the side characters of Uprising are included. Thats only the 3DS version, the Wii U version only has fighters, assists, and items. And...that's it. Seriously, where is this idea that he went overboard with the franchise? It's like Fire Emblem charaters. 5 playable characters? Not like the series has at least more than 10 games with changing protagonist's to select from. I don't even play these franchise's games and yet I still think it's ridiculous people have this mindset that Sakurai gives them bias.
