I've mostly been keeping a mental list about DLC speculation right now. Everyone's a little far too sure about themselves when it comes to it.
I don't know why y'all are complaining about unpopular inclussions, when we basically already have all of the essentials.
I am a believer of "Add them if they're fun", regardless of if they're a big request or not. Truth of the matter is, both kinds of characters are cool IMO. Big requests like Ridley (heh) or K. Rool are fun because they're big requests, while out there/unexpected choices like Piranha Plant and Joker are fun because no one would ever dream of it happening and reinforces Smash's unpredictability compared to other video games.

From what I saw, reactions were overall mixed on Isabelle, in fact, I see that some still argue that she shouldn't have been in.

Because there are still plenty of characters that people want way more? Yeah, there's nobody that really NEEDS to be in Smash, but people would still much prefer that characters people actually want would be included before characters nobody asked for, because the former makes a lot more people happy.

I'd throw K.K. Slider onto that list as well. I feel like either him or Tom Nook would be some pretty big additions in terms of notable Nintendo characters.
isabelle is popular, the smash fanbase is not the only indicator of popularity
I don't disagree. I just think Nook would take priority over K.K., is all. One step at a time and all that.
You can find someone complaining about any character. I hear people STILL complain that Snake "Doesn't Fit" but hy all accounts that doesn't matter at all. No, I've seen far more people complain about Inceneroar than Isabelle. Isabelle has been one of those characters you just kind of expected to get in, echo or otherwise. Anyone who thinks that she was a "bad choice" is obviously just upset they're favorite didn't get in instead.
