Never pinned a satisfactory answer for myself. Memory of very early games is immensely spotty and the only ones that come to mind are games with minimal character emphasis or an all-male cast.

But I think it was Malon.

I only can't confirm it for certain because I can't remember if I really got into any of the girls in Shining Force or not.
