Alright, Wave 2:

Kid Icarus Uprising: :ultpit::ultdarkpit::ultpalutena:

Pikmin: (Basically an adaptation of 1-3) :ultolimar::ultalph:

Pokemon X + Y: Introduces :ultlucario::ultgreninja:

Splatoon: :ultinkling::ultinklingboy:

Kirby Superstar Ultra! (or something): No new characters are introduced in this movie, but there's a post-credits scene with :ultsnake:) infiltrating a certain location, and as he loses contact with Colonel, he discovers the Halberd which sets in motion the lead up to the Subspace Emissary)

Mario Galaxy/Mario vs. Sonic- Basically another amalgamation, introduces :ultrosalina::ultsonic:

Super Smash Bros: The Subspace Emissary:

Characters introduced for plot: :ultfalcon: doesn't think Sonic can beat him, :ultness: and :ultlucas:are met by Pokemon Trainers and given a brief origin (which will be further explored in Wave 3)

:ulticeclimbers: interact with Lucario and Meta Knight

The Legend of Zeldaverse! Based on events after Breath of the Wild, Link gets sucked into an entirely new conflict where he comes across versions of himself and other big Zelda characters to save Hyrule across Time and Space! (also will be able to explain the crossover of all the different series)

Super Smash Bros.- This brings everyone together, or at least the original 8, to fight back against a mysterious entity invading their worlds...here is where Master Hand, and Crazy Hand, would be introduced.

Honestly, I'd just make the first Metroid movie be loosely based off the manga.
Start with a short sequence of Samus as a child when Ridley attacked her planet and killed her parents. Film already starts with a tense action sequence while estabilishing her past and Ridley as a villain. Set it up as a nightmare sequence to go directly into the next one.
Then growing up with the Chozos and showing Zebes a bit. Introduces Mother Brain during this.
We then have a timeskip to her working for the Galactic Federation as a Bounty Hunter already. Then the Space Pirates attack Zebes and Mother Brain betrays the Chozo, Samus learns of this and sets off to Zebes immedietally. Space Pirates other than Ridley are teased but he's the only one who gets an active role.
Them we have some Alien-like sequence, she explores Zebes, what once was her home, now run over by the Space Pirates. Once again, her home has been destroyed by them. During this, Ridley is constantly chasing her but Samus is too afraid to face her trauma and ends up running away whenever she sees him.
Eventually, she manages to pull herself together and faces the monster, defeating him in the process.
She goes to face Mother Brain, now more confident than ever, yadda yadda Metroid and Chozo stuff go somewhere, she kills Mother Brain and ****s off the planet.
Somehow she gets the info about SR388 and that's the sequel hook.
Post-credits scene is the surviving Space Pirates reconstructing Ridley and Mother Brain.

Ridley is voiced by Danny DeVito btw.

The concept of a Metroid movie series actually interests me a lot because it's easily the Nintendo game who better translates into it.
I mean, obvious Alien references aside, it's a sci-fi thriller with genetic experiments and a corrupt government conspiracy, alongside a mysterious civilization and the sassiest and most sadistic villain.
****'s so Hollywood I'll be surprised if they don't attempt one in future years.

My biggest question right now is do we have to play as Mario when playing solo or can we play as Luigi, Toad, or Toadette like in multiplayer?

I'm just bitter that I lose acess to half of a game I already pay for because the big N insisted on making me pay for a service I had for free every previous gen with no substantial improvement (and I only have a crappy temporary job, so I honestly don't think I can afford the extra price of NSO in the first place)

I expected the level creators to have to pay for NSO, but somehow I thought Nintendo wouldn't lock people from downloading levels if they didn't have NSO, because that literally blocks half the game away for many people.

I think it's the point that Mario Maker 1 had free online, so you were able to play any stage you want.

Anyone who doesn't have NSO pretty much loses out on more than half of the game.

Don't take my word for it, but some of the wording might have suggested the extra characters are only available in multi player. Hoping like hell that's not true, because that would be astronomically stupid on so many levels if it was.
