Perhaps, but what do those characters necessarily add to the crossover element of the game when they’re already crossing over, just not in a playable form?

New content will sell more than an altered bit of content already in the game, no?

Oh, we're doing hot takes now? Here's a lot of mine:
Isaac shouldn't be upgraded before Shadow and Waluigi
Banjo doesn't qualify as an underground pick anymore. Neither does Steve.
I miss Flat Zone 1
Mimikyu > Incineroar


For some non-Smash hot takes:
Super Paper Mario gets stale FAST
PM64 had a better battle theme than TTYD
Galaxy 2 played it too safe
Sunshine > Galaxy
Unleashed was NOT better than Colors
Gen 4 needs remakes, but not for nostalgia purposes most fans want it for.
Gen 5 is still the best
Gen 7 is up there too
Ultra SuMo is kinda pointless
Wind Waker has the best Zelda soundtrack
Squeak Squad kinda sucked
The Kirby's Dream Land trilogy is underrated
Shadow is worse than 06

The best Dreamworks movies are better than MOST Pixar films, but the worst are bottom of the barrel.
Modern Spongebob isn't that bad
The Princess and the Frog is SEVERELY underrated
Adventure Time kinda dragged on with some arcs
Regular Show had a better ending than Gravity Falls
Penn Zero had potential, but it went away too soon
Poof didn't kill the FoP, Sparky did. Poof was fine.

A stage, some music, and some more spirits could sell well. For example, the only spirit Bomberman has is himself. And any newcomer would be considered new content regardless on if they're an assist trophy. It has appeal, although, I'm not sure how well it'll bring new crowds over to Smash Bros like Joker did.

Issac doesn't deserve to be playable. He's right where he belongs as an Assist Trophy.

Moderately warm take: The "Spin off character" argument against Waluigi falls apart when spin off games make up a massive chunk of the Mario franchise and even make up some of the most popular games

Maybe, but I doubt he's as tasty as the pies posted above.

I agree that he doesn't deserve to be playable, but at the same time, it'll be nice to have him out of an assist role and playable.
