Was playing a LEGO game earlier and I managed to break the laws of gravity again.

Before anyone asks, no the Squishee being removed didn’t change anything.

Didn’t know people were still playing Dimensions, haven’t seen much of that game in a long time but I invested so much time in its development. What can I say? I’m a huge fan of massive crossovers.

Back in the heyday of Dimensions I was really invested in it to the point of writing an achievement walkthrough in Trueachievements for the game.

Though it is sad the third year never happened...

Why am I so stupid that I didn't realize God Emperor Yoshi is Zinith?

Like who else would name themselves that?

I had SO many franchises I wanted to see in Year 3, I made a list of stuff I wanted and went into a ton of detail with how they’d work:
Minecraft
Speed Racer
Looney Tunes
Thundercats
Steven Universe
Universal Monsters
Monsterverse (Godzilla/King Kong)
PEANUTS
Willy Wonka
Goosebumps
Sailor Moon
Voltron: Legendary Defender
I’m sure there are a few others I’m missing.

Just take my word for it; it's easier that way.
Do I have a choice?

I'm not sure that being a "Top 10 Genre" thing is all that important when, if you think about it:

1) Resident Evil has been a longtime system seller across generations. When Resident Evil 4 was announced for Gamecube, that was a huuuuge deal.
2) It's a widespread multimedia franchise, releasing not only quality games, but (haven't seen them, so won't speak to quality) movies, as well as comics and books
3) Among Capcom games, the Resident Evil series was the most significant seller. This changed after Monster Hunter World released last year and took the world by storm. This is the same company that brought us Street Fighter, which has a pair of characters in Smash
4) Like all other 3rd party series currently in Smash, it's Japan-made.
5) In terms of "niche" markets, Smash is probably the only "fighting game" that doesn't target a niche market in itself. Tekken, Street Fighter, and Soul Caliber certainly do not reach a mass audience, mainly because of the intimidation factor of it.
6) In terms of other 3rd parties in Smash, each has effectively been a standout character in their respective field. Sonic was a longtime rival for Mario, and reached a broad demographic with the 2D gameplay. Mega Man and Castlevania a similar platformer demographic and are known for their tight, difficult but fair gameplay. Despite Snake getting in with the Kojima thing, Metal Gear is considered the pinnacle of not only "stealth" or "espionage action", but for cinematic gameplay. MGS4 especially was a first among many games that have taken this route.

Bayonetta, like Dante, has some tight controls and gameplay within her home series...plus I think Bayonetta is a separate thing on her own. Pac-Man is Pac-Man, and then when it comes to RPGs, there's no other realistic choice than Final Fantasy, and with Cloud being from the game that frankly set the bar that much higher for the series and the genre going forward for generations.

Resident Evil, similar to some of these games, set the bar for true "survival-horror" gameplay, and there's even puzzles mixed in (like the freaking police station having hidden keys for an office. Who sets up a Police Department like that?) It's not just the zombies that are meant to scare you, but the situation. You don't have bundles of ammo. Zombies don't die to one shot. You have to plan very, very carefully. You have to hope you brought the right items with you, and that you remember where you needed to go. Otherwise, a typical run down a hallway that you're familiar with may turn into a hallway of terrors, once a stronger than expected monster corners you, and you don't have any more First Aid spray, or you hear that dreaded *click* out of your pistol after missing just one too many shots out of panic.

Silent Hill certainly has its own merits, but Resident Evil is one that has the standout characters that have mixed in with crossovers before, and is the one that seems to still be alive (that Silent Hills cancellation still hurts). I'm not a bandwagoner of the idea, having played 4,5,6, RE2make, and having watched a playthrough of 7, I firmly believe the series has a spot in the "greatest of all time" with a handful of classic games from the series. The first half of the series is especially excellent, with the later games (5 and 6) lending more to action, 4 being that happy medium between the 2.

@staindgrey could add onto what I've said already, because I don't want this to be, like, my 3rd wall o'text of the day. But I hope I'm making sense.
To be fair though, that was just my opinion on horror games in general.

I would’ve loved to see any of those franchises.

Sadly, economics and a burst in the genre ended everything.

Now that I think about it...

Is it just me or does Final Destination (top) give off a similar vibe to the Hub area of Dimensions (bottom)?

Little bit, seems that style is popular among unique areas in the center of massive crossover games.

It's funny when people get so pissed about dumb things.

It's one thing to not like Yoshi, Whatever, you don't like the character. It's fine.

But this guy was so, so mad I can't help but chuckle.
