I'll admit, I had no idea who Joker was when the announcement came.
I imagine a lot of people didn't.

Thing is, the people who are still excited for Joker, are either Smash fans, just wanting to see some different reps, or Persona fans, wanting their posterboy to be in Smash, or both. Personally, I am still pretty hyped.

Look at it this way.
In Melee, Sonic was a pipe dream.
No-one expected Snake in Brawl.
Cloud in Sm4sh? I saw some interesting reaction vids to that.
Simon Belmont? He's been requested for years!

A new 3rd party rep is really pretty cool, and we should all just respect that Sakurai and the team are humans.

He has demonic time travel abilites.

The etymology of “Byleth” is that of a demon king, and cutscenes have shown some weird stuff going on with their sword. Also, we’re 99% certain he has time-reversal abilities, as he’s shown to turn back time after being attacked in the trailer.
