Fun fact: had Lego Dimensions continued onto its third year instead of being cancelled, Ryu would've only been one degree of separation away from Shrek.

What's kinda disappointing/comforting depending on how you look at it is that several of those may have actually happened. IIRC Minecraft, Looney Tunes, Steven Universe, Universal Monsters (Mummy and Frankenstein's monster, specifically), Godzilla, and King Kong were all in various stages of negotiations, among others.

Godzilla would've been a nightmare because of how Toho handles the property. Each monster is its own trademark or something, so any time the property is licensed out, each monster needs to be negotiated individually. So unless WB were reaaaaaly persistent and serious about it, I don't think there would've been much more than just Godzilla, sadly.

I’m still depressed that LEGO Dimensions is gone. I was hardcore into that game. I own every set. Still have to complete it. Haven’t finished some of the year 2 hubworlds.

I didn’t even think of that, my ideas for that would’ve been a Godzilla/King Kong team pack with Mothra as a vehicle, Rodan would’ve been a quest NPC and Ghidorah as a boss. So all the guys that are in the new movie.
