Yes because its funny and hilarious to have a movie about the end of an civilization. That's also what I hated about Ragnarok it was trying to chase being like Guardians drifting away from its mythology and roots the last two films had. Love The Dark World or not that at least stuck to its mythology.

May of had well just called it Guardians of the Galaxy: Thor or Asgardians of the Galaxy.

I'm on a ****ing roll here

Yeah, here she is:

She’s far more stunning here than in the published comic.

Ah...so what Sonic Adventure was originally supposed to be? Good, good.

I assume everyone will be fast by default and that speed differences are minimal but noticeable, but should Amy *be* the slowest I wonder? In her earliest platformer playable appearances (SA1, 2 and Advance 1) Amy was a bit slow, yes.

She started off slown in SA1 and in the sequel was faster but still noticeably slower than Sonic, Shadow and Metal (which she should be) and in Advance 1 she’s the slowest; in the later games, however, like Sonic Heroes and Runners she’s a speed type, in Speed Forces her speed stat is a 9/10 and in Advance 2 she’s actually the second fastest character. Amy’s no slouch in the speed department. The explanation for Amy’s speed upgrade through the series is legit due to her chasing Sonic all the time.

...And yeah, she was extremely, handicappishly slow in 06, but so was Tails, Knuckles, Silver and Rouge and everyone else like Sonic, Shadow etc. was slow outside of Mach-speed sections. Everyone was basically nerfed to oblivion.

Sonic 06? More like Sonic 0-so-****ing-slow 6.

I’m also surprised that Sonic and Shadow aren’t outright equal.

And this is how it should be. Instead of wasting development time on radically different play styles that won’t even stick and flat out have no place in a Sonic game (like the fishing) what should instead be focused on is the core A to B, high speed action play style with level design that compliments the speed and facilitate the intricacies of the momentum physics based nature of the Classics.

Focus on the core Sonic style first then figure out how you’ll make levels accommodate for Tails’s flight ability or Knuckles’s climbing and gliding ability for, say, acces to shortcuts etc.

What’s interesting about Adventure is Tails and Knuckles were actually based on Sonic’s base at a certain point in development, we know this because they both have Spin Dash models and animations, they just go unused. (...even though there’s a whole other button that isn’t used for anything, that should’ve been where they placed Tail Swipe and punching)

We see in early prototype footage that Tails is running around in Sonic’s version of certain levels (Speed Highway, which still had him use the rocket that takes you to the second act) with no race mechanic, just running around freely as if he were Sonic:

as well as seeing him in a completely different version of Twinkle Park, which is a level he can’t even access in the final.

Yeah, that’s actually Twinkle Park. You can see the barrels and 3-globe street lamps with flags from the final version of the stage. Interestingly, there’s a texture used in TP for certain objects in the final game that shows an alternate angle of this same area, revealing a different roller coaster with yellow tracks (you can see the yellow tracks in the gif) and the different background texture which shows off a bunch stars as well as some giant yellow stars (and you can see one big yellow star in the top right corner in the gif).

Also, in the SET file (The level object files, they contain the object layouts for the characters:

SETLLSSC.BIN

Where LL is the level number, SS is the level segment (Act) number, and C is the character playing the level.)

Anyway, the SET file for TP Act 1 ( SET0300S ) in the AutoDemo prototype is a complete mismatch for the actual level geometry; the objects for the level actually reveal a large, circular stage with said objects being in places that you would expect for a platforming level and not any of the Twinkle Kart race tracks. Since the area in the gif and texture appears to be circular we actually think that the leftover SET file is for THAT version of the stage.

The AutoDemo is a giant mess of files crammed in from different stages of development, but at least we got Beta Windy Valley out of it as well as textures dating all the way back to November 1997. Of course, the sucky thing about Windy Valley is that the textures for everything but the dust cloud from the tornado was removed, which leads everyone at Retro to believe that it was already in the process of being redesigned during the time frame where the AutoDemo was compiled.

So Cream’s broken during boss fights, cool. Can Knuckles punch?

Shadow sounds fun. Burst will work like it does in Battle I assume but can the Spears target multiple enemies at once? In order to be fun to use it should work fast and efficiently so if there are more than one enemy close to him the Spears should come out in multiple bolts similarly to SA2 or Generations and home in on multiple enemies in his immediate direction destroying them simultaneously. Pretty similar to Light Speed Attack I suppose.

Holy crap that sounds fun and it makes sense. SA2 gave her glide while Heroes gave her flight so let’s split the difference and give her a flight/gliding mechanic; levels accommodating Rouge would have to be huge. Can she kick?

Are you saying she can’t Boost like she could in the Rush titles or are you saying the game has boosting but she can’t do it?

That sounds cool. Since the Archie characters in particular got Sonic appropriate redesigns post-Genesis reboot:

I’d be happy to have them.

Breezie?
Hell yeah.

With Knuckles, SEGA can always just say that Tikal and Chaos become temporary guardians so that Knuckles can go out and have a life. Bam, easy explanation right there.

Also, two brothers?

Perfect opportunity to bring in the niece. :troll:

The idea of giving them Eggman’s personalities from other media sounds interesting.
I love walls of text, don't you love walls of text, MainJPW?
About the speed, the speed difference would be minute (I wrote out Amy as "0.5" and Sonic as "4", but really it should be like "4" - "3.65"), and Amy is the slowest because that's just how I envision her (also, see below); Amy's still fast, just not as fast as the rest. Technically they could all be the same speed and it wouldn't make much of a difference.

I think I actually forgot to mention how Amy plays beyond a vague "Advance 2" statement, she has the Hammer, which is the focus of her gameplay; she plays like she does in Adventure, just without Zero messing things up, this also means she's the most unique (unless Silver were to be an Unlockable character). She has the Hammer Jump, which is part of the reason why she's the slowest. Jump height can play an important role in how people perceive a character's speed, just look at Knuckles in S3&K and Mania, he's actually the same speed and acceleration as Sonic and Tails, but people are convinced he's slower because he can't jump as high.
(Technically, by this logic, Rouge should be the slowest because of the aerial mobility thing, but I'd kind of want to troll the people who don't like her by making her the best character, so that she gets all the speedruns)

With Blaze, I meant that nobody can Boost (and if they could boost it'd be an Acceleration and Top Speed modifier, not an instant burst of speed. anyway).

Knuckles, Rouge and Blaze would be able to Punch (Knux) and Kick (Rouge and Blaze).

I have a rudimentary stage list for this concept, there are 5 Areas with 5 Zones in each (for a total of 25 Zones). The Areas are Turquoise Resort, Chestnut Mountain, White Bay, Prism Hills and Red Valley. Certain Levels are built with characters in mind, and not everyone goes to the same zones in the same order (you're playing the game eight times, you'd need some variety), though everyone would be able to enter every the level in the post-game for 100% Completion purposes. Each character has their own story, though you can also skip it.
Turquoise Resort
Green Cove Zone (Sonic and Tails' Level 1)
Viridian Springs Zone (Amy and Cream's Level 1)
Verdant Forest Zone
Spirit Lake Zone
High Roller Zone
Chestnut Mountain
Misty Ruins Zone
Tidal Cavern Zone
Crystal Mines Zone (Knuckles' Level 1)
Frosted Peak Zone
Quercus Castle Zone
White Bay
Iron Assault Zone (Shadow and Rouge's Level 1)
Alabaster Ruins Zone (Blaze Level 1)
Sandy Valley Zone
Sea Stack Zone
Stormy Precipice Zone
Prism Hills (also known to the locals as "Speed Mountain")
Cerulean Speedway Zone
Drive Aqueduct Zone
Radiant Crystal Zone
Gale Force Zone
Velocity Hill Zone
Red Valley
Alchemic Factory Zone
Soaring Heights Zone
Crimson Hill Zone
Magma Cavern Zone
Egg Base Zone
Regarding "Crimson Hill Zone", that's an idea I've been playing with for a while.

It's Green Hill, but Red and way more dangerous. I drew this picture in 2012.

Other ideas I had from 2012 are Ocean Panic

Eternal Emerald, an early version of Radiant Crystal

Lava Casino

and Arid Sanctuary.

Also, one final one, done as a joke: Silver Fortress.
Silver Fortress.png
I also had a "Frozen Factory" level I drew a design for, but I can't find it. I remember drawing it, because it had Knuckles in a literal production facility with crates coated in ice on conveyor belts and the Ice Sprays from Ice Cap Zone.
Regarding the side characters, I've actually drawn the three Eggmen.
Eggmen.JPG
Koo koo ka choo.
I also designed a new character, who is basically my only ever Sonic OC (at least, the only one I ever intend to do anything with).
This is "Noirienne the Dog", she's meant to be a fellow G.U.N. agent like Rouge. She's also got a partner "Garth the Wolf", though I never got around to designing him (you can see where my priorities lied at the time I was thinking about this stuff).

I like your idea for "why is Knuckles there?". And that's why you get second opinions, kids!

I think we should take this to PMs if we take it further, because this amount of rambling is insane.

Guardians movies: Despite their campy and goofy nature has heart and lets emotional moments sink in.
Ragnarok: Has a jokes and quips every five minutes and interrupts emotional moments without letting them sink in and never taken seriously.

That's why I love Guardians 1 & 2 so much.

Idk I don’t think anyone has ever really given too much of a shot about the mythological roots in Thor movies. Like people come in to see a Marvel movie, not a movie about mythological gods, there are entire movies made on premises like that and nowhere near as many people see them.

Here’s some food for thought:

Which is better? Nerfs or Buffs?
Buffs and this isn't ecen a discussion.
Buffs allow the meta to develop and new options to be discovered. All nerfs do is make good characters either a little less good or complete garbage while the characters that were already bad continue being bad.

unfortunately no, the site only has gifs from the 2018 reboot
not that I'm complaining, it's a ****ing gold mine
Yeah, it feels like most shows with good gif material are ignored.

I think I made six or seven times the amount of gifs just for Oz alone. The show only had 2 gifs! 2!

The person who designed Dr. Wily Spirit battle doesn't deserve rights.

Buffs vs Nerfs? Depends on the Situation and Character. Buffs are almost always the right way to go unless there's a character so strong and dominant that they had to get nerfed so it would be more balanced.

For example let's say Brawl had buffed every character but then there's Meta Knight who doesn't need any buffs and if he got buffed to be even stronger than he already is it would still be unbalanced so instead they would nerf him a little so it would be fair and the game would be more balanced.

It depends on the Situation and Character but Buffs are almost always the better thing to do.

Well there goes the theory of her re-building Vision in his white outfit.
I legit thought she was gonna fix Banner and Hulk and turn them into one like she fixed Bucky, and that would be how Professor Hulk shows up

Nope she's ****ing dead

It is tricky, but it's easier in Spirit Board.

3-slot spirit with Metal Killer and KO Heals (or w/e it's called) + Weaken Minions... It'll do ya some good. Just minus Weaken Minions if you're talking bout the WoL one.
I tend to use Bowser over Pit for this one given his power.

Buffs are almost always better, except in the case of where a character is so dominant that it hurts the game.

okay the four I posted were the ones I had the most trouble with personally
I didn't have that much trouble with Sukapon (though maybe I'm blocking out the memory or something).

Though I had a ton of trouble with Eggman (not as much as, say, Pauline or DK and Lady, but enough that I thought "Okay, I want to skip this, but I have to deal with it now or I won't get all three endings").
