I think there's merit in the Waluigi/Ridley comparison, but none at all in the Isaac/K. Rool one.

Ah, I see.

How I see it, Waluigi isn't even close to being "The New Ridley", and same goes for K. Rool and Isaac. I really don't understand why some people are trying this hard to grasp at straws. Pretty amazing too how they say that K. Rool was just as irrelevant as Isaac, even though Japan is literally sitting right there with the nonstop support of not only him, but the DKC trilogy to this day. Boggles my mind.

Interested to see where this all started, though.

Scythes are dumb. They're not weapons. They're farming tools meant to cut grass on the ground. When they were historically used as weapons, it was by farmers who had nothing better lying around, and they reoriented the blade to use it more like a spear than how it's depicted in fiction. Nearly any other blade weapon would be more effective.

It's only ever used because of its association with the Grim Reaper, with the symbolism and function being forgotten.

Speaking of weapons that aren't really weapons at all.

The famous Ninja "Weapon", the Kunai, was actually just a trowel that was repurposed into a weapon because the Ninja was probably disguised as a farmer and they wouldn't have to explain why they have a farming implement to people if they were disguised as such.
