Crash Bandicoot is also another one.

Crash Warped used to be the best selling western game in Japan for a long time until Spider-Man PS4 launched there and broke the record.
I was specifically talking about Japanese characters. I'm already away of how popular his original trilogy of games were in Japan.

I personally think Crash is the best choice as far as Western 3rd party characters go. He's one of the most iconic video game characters of all time, and Japan actually gives a **** about him. He has worldwide appeal, which can't be said about most other western video game characters.

Indeed.
But as osby osby and others said, Nintendo was choosing the DLC this time, so we don't know who will be in or out yet.

I think the only western mascot like characters that have true worldwide appeal left are Crash, Steve and maybe Spyro on a good day.

Page 1234 SPECIAL!

Things you want in Smash:

1 Change
2 Stages
3 Musics
4 Characters
It's now long past page 1234, but that's not gonna stop me (especially when the thread's dead at this time of day)

1. I could say 'fix online', but that probably requires a multitude of changes. Instead, I'll say add descriptive text to spirits so they aren't just PNGs with little to no context.
2. Gyromite and Grassland Groove. Ultra Space is a runner up, but Donkey Kong is in need of a stage more than Pokemon is.
3. The answer I give will probably change in a few hours - I'm constantly changing my mind on this. As it stands now, it'd be The Ultimate Show (Super Paper Mario), Wing Ding (DKC: Tropical Freeze) and Battle! Lance/Red (Pokemon GSC)
4. Skull Kid, Paper Mario, Rayman, Professor Layton

I feel like Banjo & Kazooie are more popular than Spyro in Japan.

There is also all the Donkey Kong County characters if you even want to count them.

Sadly, Spyro is infamous in Japan thanks to the awful ports of the PS1 games that Japan got there.

Well I meant 3rd parties so DK wasn't even in the running.

Banjo could work and they probably are in Japan.

But I'm just not sure if Spyro's massive western appeal is greater then Banjo's smaller but more consistent appeal.

I just had a bizarrely random thought...

You know how in the first Dragon Quest game some of the choices answer "But Thou Must" if you say no?

Well do you think there's someone out there who did that over and over again constantly for an inordinate amount of time (like years)?

This is the internet. I can see it happen...

I think the Ibuprofen is kicking in... :yoshi:

It seems legit. It has a great amount of attention to detail and polish to it, nobody except Sakurai could've made this so respectful to the source.
I know.
People may claim that it is fake, but we all know that this will be the 2.0. version of the ESRB leak.

Oh yeah. It’s impressive to see how far small games can come along nowadays. /s

For some reason, this reads like a metaphor of my relationship with my parents.

So apparently someone actually made the battle theme from Deltarune, but with lyrics, and it is actually... really really good.

Sakurai: There's not many good choices for third parties I guess
Me:
View attachment 193144
Playing devil's advocate but: Translation says "option", not "choice". It's entirely possible that he was talking about third parties that were legally easy to get rights of for the base game.

Like, we got Joker from the get-go, I don't think that quote was about Sakurai's imposibly high standarts.

I want ****ing Doom Slayer because I'm a filthy ****ing American who wants a first person shooter rep in a stupid Japanese mascot fighting game.

Plus, it'd just be hilarious to see the name "Doom Slayer" next to Yoshi and Isabelle.

And Doom is pretty iconic and historically significant I guess, if that matters.

If it's going to comfort you: Nintendo chose the DLC, so it's not like Sakurai's personal opinion on the subject is going to effect much. We already had a good start if you like guest fighters.

My favourite part was when Obi-Wan watched Anakin burning, and just walked away.

Metroid Prime doh.
I mean, Metroid Prime isn't a First Person Shooter and Samus was in Smash before Prime was even a concept so I wouldn't say that really counts.

Dark Samus maybe. But Prime still ain't no First Person shooter.

Mine's when Obi Wan literally breaks Grievous body and shoots his vital organs to the point that he gets burned by fire and dies.

Prime 2's multiplayer and Hunters would like to talk with you.
