Thing is if you know about it, then you could be charged too. Even if it was a crappy game like Wii Rockband you still can get into deep ****.

If you ever get a job at a retailer, one of the questions that they always ask you or similar to it

If a friend of yours deciedes to shoplift and you know about it what will you do?
a)let him go
b)tell him not to
c)tell your supervisor and the cops
right now you seem to be A and B. Me i would so choose C.

That pretty much means he not only knew about it, but made a conscious decision not to turn around.
How does that make him an accessory? He in no way aided in the crime(stealing). The fact that he now knows and chose not to tell, means he's guilty of omission, making him a principal(which in actuality could be an accesory).

Following your logic, if i tell you i killed my wife, and you dont call the cops right now your an accessory.

He was made aware of the crime in the middle of the drive and chose to drive him home instead of back to the store or to the police station.

The way the law sees it [or the way it is here, anyway] he helped him get away.

just an update on the situation. my friend, he is still my friend, did the dumbest thing possible today(two days after the incident). he took the game to walmart and exchanged it for another game that he wanted. at first i thought this might not be a bad idea untill i found out that he had to show walmart his id in order to trade in the game. now the stolen game is at walmart with his id attached to it. if eb games checks with wal mart he is screwed, if they dont he isnt i guess. what do you guys think are the chances? what about my situation now?
i'd buy the game, and then destroy the evidence.
now nothing will happen. this is what a real friend would do

or you could steal it again and put him in your situation.

o...kay, so tell me why did his friend go through all that trouble, just to end up destroying it? but then again he would be safe from laws harm.

as for the stealing again thing, NO just NO, doing this would show that he's just as bad as his friend and besides, stealing from Wal-Mart ain't as easy as it looks, believe me.

No, it's more like mid-ride you tell him you killed your wife and she's in the trunk and he continues to drive you to the desert to bury the body.

It was the clearest analogy I could think of at the time.

No dude. Your analogy added a second crime. Which CK would be guilty of, not murder. Ck would be guilty of that crime(helping me bury her), not murder. The OP isnt guilty of theft, since the theft would have happened if he was aware of it or not. The moment he found out, and didnt say anything, he became guilty of omission.

Woah, this isn't school. You don't just get a slap on the wrist. You could be facing jail time for something that you didn't do, yet you won't admit who did it. Get a grip on yourself and turn him in. Obviously, if he had the mindset to steal a game, he would do OTHER things that you might not want to get involved in :/ C'mon dude, just get him in trouble and spare yourself.
It's a dog-eat-dog world out there, and your friend made the mistake of SHOWING you the game. Punish THAT mistake.

If the guy came out of the store to give you a chance to return the game, then he SAW your friend take it. That's all the proof the police will need.

And there are ALWAYS cameras in electronics stores. Especially ones with electronics that are small and can be concealed easily.

If you don't rat out your friend, you WILL face prosecution. These companies have a 0-tolerance policy for people like your friend. Don't be the "cool" kid and not rat him out, because you will just end up sharing his sentence.

Although, quite honestly, if I were the store manager of this place, I wouldn't exactly believe that you "didn't know", especially after waiting this long to confess.

It's a game, let your friend do what ever he wants to do, it's his life. Also, I wouldn't let that "friend" of yours ever come in your house again. Who knows what else he might steal.

I have had friends like that.
One of them stole my pokemon cards when I was 8
Now he steals bigger things, he tried to steal a 360 from limeridge mall (that's a mall near where I live). He got caught and isn't allowed to enter the mall anymore.

So now he knows it's cool with you if he steals. What about the next time? Or the time after that?
