okay new list here is my top 10, you can edit this as you want but at least this could get people started off

pretty good eh?? Looks decently accurate to me. Does sensei even play anymore? Idk where to rank Sensei/Pakman/some others but I know there's a few people around the same level that would go up here too

At times like these I think it's good to bring up the fact that I've 8 stocked Jfox, Jman, and Scar in tourney sets before WOW I'm so incredible sometimes

M2k, thanks for your opinions, but I dont want this to be done in that manner. The way ur doing it, random *** nobodies are gonna start posting their terribly inaccurate and bias lists, and than its gonna start a flame war, and than this thread is gonna suck or get closed by tope. So thanks, but no thanks. either u want to be a panelist, or you dont wanna be a part of making this rankings. Either way, ur spot is set in stone at first place regardless

Id say the hardest spots to rank would be like 7-10. Me scar reno and vanz(my dude has been stepping it up, pre brawl vanz), its like a toss up i think any of us 4 could go either way. and were all really active.

Yea like I beat jman last time we played, reno beats eggm now. vanz beat me and reno last tourny we were all at, reno can beat scar, scar beats me and vanz but loses to G$ who me vanz and reno beat consistently. How many peple are you doing.? If its top 10 I think these top 10 are good, I hope im not missing anyone

. but if its like 15 than there are people like hazz gmoney alu dj oorah pakman jfox. I think jman wouldve been 2 but now PC is playing and he just won their last set, so who knows. Cactuar hasnt really been taking **** seriously anyway

EDIT-reno loses to skler as sheik so hes auto 10, take his name outta discussion, me scar and Vanz should all be higher. LOL <3 R3N0!!!!!!

normally i would put jman above cactuar but recently (I played Cactuar this Sunday) cactuar seemed like he got good again and he's more consistent when he's good so im not sure if jman should be above cactuar anymore, but the fact that Jman attends a lot of things would make him there so yeah I can agree with that I guess. They are basically a tie though.

putting them in obvious tiers where the skill gaps are pretty evident and the / indicates it's close enough to call it a tie and disputable either way

Well Scar travels more than me so if it had to be one of us then I would say he would have better input. Cactuar used to be really good for these lists, but he has gotten too good that beating someone like me is about the same for him as beating Scrubby McTerrible.

I think rather than being a panelist, I'd prefer Vanz to take my spot as a Tune. I do feel that I should be engaged in the discussion, but simply as a moderator, not as someone who gives an opinion. In past rankings (I was a panelist for the North atlantic rankings, and tri-state rankings, and have been a part of every single NJ melee ranking to date) I have always played sort of an organization role. I typically give people guidelines for how the rankings will take place, rules about inactive players, set up the times that we can discuss rankings, and provide the group with massive amounts of tournament results. I think I'd prefer to just organize things, and let Vanz do the debating, simply because I think he is better suited for the job.

So if its ok with everyone, I think I will take the role of moderator. How does that sound?

Edit: I know everyone enjoys making a quick list, but lets just hold them for now. Making lists back and forth isn't the way to go about ranking players. Like I said before, all thats gonna do is start fights in an open forum where flaming will take place.

JFox should be the Rankings Master of Ceremonies. :laugh:

I agree that you should be involved in some way. You usually have good input.

When I was involved in PA rankings we had some issues with people taking control of everything (Scar). But that was more because the panel was too passive than Scar being too hasty. I think having an organizer would help deter that.

I would also suggest Mogwai as a consultant or something. He usually has useful input.

We could create one of them Social group dealies for more private chat too.

I'd prefer figuring out a way to do this via message board rather than aim. This way we can have tourney results posted in the thread to refer to, and we dont have to find a time that works for everyone. And on aim people are just trying to out type each other and it becomes a mess of text and bickering. With message boards, you can at least organize with multi-quote and whatnot, and thoughtful input can be more encouraged.

I know it seems odd for me to be asking this, but I'd like to offer my time and services as a panelist. Yes, I know I'm "not that good".(I have a strange feeling that might come into play) I do believe, though, that I can offer good input and especially in an unbiased manner. (Considering that I'm not in a crew at all.) Plus, I do have the time to look up tournament results, and can help JFox keep things a bit more organized. I'm just making the offer, and I wouldn't mind/would love being a part of this.

Ame, you're welcome to help look up tourney results with me, in fact that goes for ust about everyone. Anyone is more than welcome to help with that long, grueling, annoying process.

As for being a panelist, you just aren't at the level where you can gauge the skill level of the players in the top ten. Sure you can say "oh I get 4 stocked by m2k, and only three stocked by HBK" but you can't appreciate the intricate details that make them beat you. That isn't any offense to you either. I myself opted to bring someone else in as a panelist from my crew because I also feel that I can't appreciate those higher levels of play as good as vanz can. He can say "oh yeah, G$ isn't quite as good as HBK yet because of X, Y, Z" whereas I would just say "HBK ***** me more" LOL. Sure I can base my judgements on tourney results, but anyone can add up some numbers and say who comes out on top. What we need are the people that can accurately distinguish between tourney results AND personal evaluations of a players skill level.

As for the organization aspect, I feel that I really dislike working with other people when it comes to organizing things. This is simply because I have my own ideas for what is best, and don't care much for what other people's opinions are. I tend to think of my own ideas as superior, and leave little room for other's opinions when it comes to organization. Its not a personal thing, I just think I'm better at it than most people. (modest I know). I chose to single-handedly design the NJ player finder, including all of its style, layout, colors, fonts, etc. I thought of my own sections, chose my own network of mods to help control it, etc. I created my own set of rules which were used to rank players. What I'm trying to get across is that I like to do that sort of thing alone. Its just the way I work.

Yeah, these lists don't really mean much imo. Usually the people on them know who is better than them/worse than them/around the same skill level. And then there's people like Tec0 who are mad beast but don't go to enough tournaments.
