As a former nado spammer, I've come to realize this move is only AVERAGE at best. After everything people have said to me I've decided I wouldn't use it at all for a match. I was like omgwtfbbq when i started 2 stocking people. It has priority and all, but other than that it doesn't have much going for it. If you miss you get punished badly. Not hard to miss when fighting someone good. I honestly don't see whats so great about it. It was probably uber broken in July, because everyone was a noob. But now, people are good. Everytime I face someone with a decent amount of skill nowadays, they either perfect shield it or DI out of it. I don't know why people still say this move is the best move in the game. I finally found out what kept me from getting better, and it was whorenado. I hate this move now.

tl;dr: Whorenado is average because good people can easily punish it.

It's good vs 80% of people. Too bad only the 20% are what matter. It's a great move. You can use it as recovery, to switch your position, and random chip damage. However, if you're fighting someone good (unless it's a super-massive character that can't get out, like Ganon DDD DK), they can just block it and angle their shield up and easily have the advantage from that point.

I swear ill destroy amazing mks then lose to one that intelligently spams nado and I know every possible move/thing of DDD's that goes through it and can counter it but its all irrelevant

Ok, so maybe ddd, dk, ganon and bowser, are exceptions. If someone uses anything besides those characters, and they're good, they can punish nado spam. It can easily be DI'd out of if they don't react in time to shield it.

Agreed. But you shouldn't stop using it completely. It definitely has its uses such as when you're fighting DDD like CO18 said. Use it, but just don't spam it.

A DDD who's good at timing a Utilt is scary to tornado against. Seibrik did that to me a lot and killed me a few times like that when I played him last Thursday. >_>

It's a real good move though. Just use it intelligently.

interestingly enough, both moves (Tornado and D-smash) have about 30 frames (half a second) of dead time (well, D-smash from the front)

plenty of time.

i wouldnt say its average, but i wouldnt say how people are talking about it. its good, but DI and shielding it would probably make it risky (cept for heavyweights)

This is an amazing move against sonic and falcon, but against everyone else, this move sucks. It has its uses (maybe edgeguarding), but in terms of an offensive move, its terrible. You can MAYBE get 8-10% on a good player and you will most likely be punished afterwards. One of the few uses for this move is to approach projectile spammers, since it has insane priority (which is nice). I would say this is an average move...It only works on noobs.

Yeah if you can perfect shield within 5 frames.
I don't think it has alot of shield stun anyway :dizzy:

I guess that's true... considering that alot of Sonic and Falcon players are noobs.
Pikachu can punish tornado OoS.
Sonic is faster than Pikachu, so Sonic can punish Tornado with things ranging from dash attacks to grabs >_>

If you try to approach a knowledgeable Sonic with a low (not grounded) Tornado, well, let's just say there's a way to take advantage of your inputs and force you into a side-B.

I mean yeah, Tornado can kind of beat up spindashes, but ****-

screw it.

According to an amazing mind in the SBR, all you have to do is spam D-tilt against Sonic to win. You don't need tornado lol.

As for Falcon, I believe his flub knee breaks the tornado.

Tornado is most likely overrated.
It's not a godly move as most think, but it's a great move nonetheless.
Most of the time if you get sucked into it, there is no longer any chance of punishing it.
You have to react quickly to use your shield so you can punish it. Once you practice with tornado-spammy MK's for a while, tornado will cease to instill fear into you completely.

I can tell you why you probably started two stocking people. Tornado is such a disgustingly good move, you didn't realize how much you were using it after the move decay had ruined it. You just kept on hitting and hitting, and didn't realize you weren't gaining much ground.

Actually this is 100% wrong. Mach Tornado is not affected AT ALL by Stale Move Negation.

Ok, so maybe the knockback and hitstun change.

You know what's over rated? Meta Knight's D-Smash, people just use that move because the sound of him using the move sounds like a beat. That's why they spam that too much. I say people spam the move because it looks cool, lol. jk

At least Dsmash is harder to punish.
