Oh wait, that's @BaganSmashBros. I know who that is.The creator posts regular POTD style updates on his Deviantart and another Ridley support thread.
No vids as of late though.
What do you mean?Ridley will never look good as a playable character. Not in the hands of fans, at least.![]()
Definitely, this is true, but at the moment I was content with Lucina and Robin just blew me out of the water. Personally, I really lie the icing too.I'd say Robin is the cake and Lucina is the icing, but that's just me.
Did an amazing job of it, for sure.Gotta give him props for trying, though.
Not sure if I could say it looks bad when fans make it, because that's not always the case. What do you mean?
I see your point.Did an amazing job of it, for sure.

Mr. Sakurai may not always have the best game design sense, but he has a very high standard of visual quality and identity. Melee in particular was one of the most beautiful games on its hardware. In fact, even though Melee was in development before Project Dolphin became a commercial product, it not only looks better than almost the entire GCN library, but even a lot of Wii games. Especially the characters.
What I'm getting at is, even when fans use an existing model Sakurai and his team made for Ridley, it stands out not because it's bad, but because it's not good. Not Sakurai-good, anyway. Even some of Project M's outfits.... While Fusion Suit Samus and Masked Man Lucas look great, the Marth and Ike outfits they showed looked increasibly sketchy.

Ike day was my favorite moment in Smash speculation as not only was Ike confirmed, it was the moment that actually made me start seriously believing in Robin.Oh, forgot to ask; What was your favorite moment in the speculation period?
I agree, that was a great say. It's not like Ike is my favorite character or anything, but in my eyes, his presence on the roster (and Sakurai's comment that day) lowered Chrom's chances and increased Robin's. I was giddy for the rest of the day.Ike day was my favorite moment in Smash speculation as not only was Ike confirmed, it was the moment that actually made me start seriously believing in Robin.
I also like Ike here for a different reason- he shows that just because a character's "relevance" to the series isn't as major anymore doesn't mean they're a guaranteed cut. I'm not counting Jigglypuff in Brawl or Lucario here because Jigglypuff was on the original roster and Lucario got a pretty hyped mega evo. Ike is just a cool guy, though.I agree, that was a great say. Plus it was funny seeing my friend react to it, since he wanted Chrom to replace Ike.![]()
Agreed. Ike is is own character and it'd be sad to see him lose his moveset to Chrom. Humorously enough though, Ike's Chrom outfit is fantastic.Getting Chrom instead of Ike and Chrom being the only Awakening character would be like awful three-fold.
Ike day was great. My brother's main is Ike, so he was thrilled. His reveal confused me a lot- Chrom could be too repetitive, but he could also balance Ike and Marth out by beig a middle-man in terms of speed and power. Robin also seemed a little more likely in my eyes too, but Ike was definitive enough evidence for me to go ham.I agree, that was a great say. Just a thought...Yeah, as soon as Ike showed up I was on #TeamRobin.
Of course, I knew he was coming back anyway, so...
Though now that the game is out it makes me wonder what Sakurai's priorities were.
I.E. What put Ike before Wolf.
Sakurai fights for our friendsAgreed, Ike was the reason I got back to speculating on Robin again. The day he was announced was a day in which I managed to sleep easy for once. For some reason, I was pessimistic on his chances of getting back in, and that he would be one of the lower-priority characters to be cut like Lucas. The lack of anything Fire Emblem-related in the pictures apart from Marth and Arena Ferox had convinced me on this for some bizarre reason.
But I shouldn't have doubted Sakurai's faith in Fire Emblem. He may have made some controversial decisions in the eyes of the fanbase, but we can at least know that he is on our side.![]()
As I've said before, I don't believe in guarantees; I didn't think he was definitely going to be cut or definitely going to return. However, I thought he would more than likely return. Just because he wasn't in the latest installment of a series that regularly rotates its cast of characters didn't mean he was suddenly expendable. He was, and still is, a recurring, notable, and popular protagonist within the Fire Emblem series. And yet so many were so sure that he would be cut due to arbitrary ideas like "Fire Emblem will always have Marth + the most recent protagonist" (you know, looking back on it, Fire Emblem speculation as a whole was pretty much dominated by arbitrary ideas that were accepted as fact without valid reason).Sakurai fights for our friends
Also, that brings up a good point. What did you guys think about Ike prior to his reveal?
I know that there was some doubt, but I seriously had full faith in his return. He was a completely unique character and he had the potential for an interesting redesign (point for me). Yeah, he has no current games (other than Awakening cameos), but he's a FE fan favorite and debatably the strongest of all the Lords. Chrom couldn't just "take over" his moveset and work well in my mind (which makes it funny that Chrom kinda copies Ike's movements during the Final Smash, kick and everything and that Ike has a Chrom outfit). While my pessimistic Ike-maining brother bemoaned his inevitable cut, I held firm in my belief that he'd return.

Overall, I'm quite happy to see him back. He's a great character whose return was quite healthy for a rather sick speculation community.
To be honest, I was hoping we'd avoid cuts altogether this time.Sakurai fights for our friends

HAH, OBVIOUS GOKU LOVER!So, here's question that I've been itching to ask: If you could have one non-Nintendo character playable in Smash, one that would never ever happen in a million years, who would it be?
For me? Well...I don't want to make it too obvious.
People have a tendency to not learn from the past, so it's quite likely we will continue to see people speaking in absolutes and treating arbitrary ideas like fact. Fortunately, you seem to be smarter than that.Ugh, can you imagine next game?
"Fire Emblem is always Marth + Old Characters + Recent FE Main Characters - Dumb Clones. That's 100% true and it's a fact!"
That being said, I also don't like absolutes when it comes to character inclusion.
Maybe this guy?So, here's question that I've been itching to ask: If you could have one non-Nintendo character playable in Smash, one that would never ever happen in a million years, who would it be?

I don't really agree with any of this, but okay.Just a thought...
Personally, comparing Ike to Wolf in terms of inclusion is like comparing the beauty of the Mona Lisa to the beauty of a hamburger- they're both beautiful, but in completely different ways.
- FE is a franchise that is more "alive" than Star Fox
- FE is more "popular" with younger gamers
- Ike had a 99% unique (-1% for having Counter) moveset (especially with Robin, not Chrom being the FE:A rep)
- Wolf was a derivative of Fox's moveset (not a clone though), while Ike was a completely fresh idea.
- Ike's redesign makes him the only realistic adult-proportioned male with a sword.
- Ike was a noob friendly character in Brawl, so he had a lot of fans.
So, here's question that I've been itching to ask: If you could have one non-Nintendo character playable in Smash, one that would never ever happen in a million years, who would it be?

Personally, me neither. They're just "thoughts." I really don't find Wolf's and Ike's scenarios similar at all, so I was just blurting out ideas.I don't really agree with any of this, but okay.

I'd love it if there were no cuts, but unfortunately that wasn't in the cards. I've already lost two of my old mains (Roy and Pokemon Trainer... 3 if you really want to count Ivysaur and Squirtle separately), a character that I was attached to (Lucas), and my favorite Star Fox rep, but I'll still always love Smash. If I really want them so badly, I'll just go play Project M.To be honest, I was hoping we'd avoid cuts altogether this time.Doesn't help that out of the cuts, one was my favorite character period, another I adored a lot and was so unique, a third I wasn't fond of using but liked the concept of, and a fourth was one I had surprisingly grown to love a lot. As for the fifth, while it's not a character I feel as strongly about, it still stinks that he was cut.
As for Ike, I was pretty sure he was going to return. It was just a gut feeling. The only characters I was questioning were Lucario (keep in mind this was pre X and Y- after getting a hyped mega, that doubt left my mind) and Snake (because of possible rights issues). Though, I did consider that maybe Pokémon Trainer would get replaced with Hilbert with the Unova starters or Calem with the Kalos starters, and that Toon Link could be replaced by another Link (I'm not as familiar with Zelda, so I didn't know at the time if a new "alternate" Link had come along.
My vote would go to Sora or Roxas from Kingdom Hearts. I adore that series and it's my favorite non-Nintendo series- in fact, it's the only non-Nintendo series that I even played from birth to age 15 (except for Yu-Gi-Oh! I guess in hindsight) (at 15 I became obsessed with Final Fantasy). Since both characters do have ties to Nintendo, it wouldn't be tooSo, here's question that I've been itching to ask: If you could have one non-Nintendo character playable in Smash, one that would never ever happen in a million years, who would it be?

Somebody deader than Mega Man has been for the last couple of years: Crash Bandicoot. So, here's question that I've been itching to ask: If you could have one non-Nintendo character playable in Smash, one that would never ever happen in a million years, who would it be?.
I can see Wolf and Ike being at the same level (not for the same reasons though), but Lucario has definitely surpassed them (now). He had a prominent role in XY and is even featured at the end of the opening anime sequence in Japan. He beat Pikachu in Unova to kick Ash out of the Unova League and that wasn't even his region. His Mega Evolution is so powerful and popular that fan-metagames have banned him. Still, pre-Mega Evolutions, I myself doubted Lucario and thought that he could be phased out by some Gen VI Pokemon.Personally, I think Wolf, Lucario, and Ike are on the same level.
It is odd Wolf was cut and the other weren't.
I can sympathize. The only non-Nintendo franchises that I even keep up with are Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy... which occasionally will wind up on Nintendo systems too.I'm honestly not sure who I'd want. Most of the characters I'm really invested in video game wise are Nintendo characters. I have plenty that have no shot ever of getting in, but no third parties I can think of.
You are the purest of evils.Huh? Don't we already have that character?

One day...
3! Bair, Dash Attack, and Counter! All is right is the world!!!!... yeah, I get what you mean thoughThink Palutena uses her shield for... two moves?
This was just on one of the Fine Bros' shows and all but two of the teenagers got this song's name and artist (and one of the two knew the name but forgot the artist). Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a land slide,
no escape from reality,
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me
Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head
...
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me
Infinite character design potential. Land slides, skies, no sympathy from Ike, has superborken mobility options, winds, flying, killing people , thunderbolts and lightning that are very very frightening.
Robin needs a land slide special and a crown, and we're in it. That or we can get Mercury Ridley.
