Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a land slide,
no escape from reality,
Open your eyes
Look up to the skies and see
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy
Because I'm easy come, easy go
A little high, little low
Anyway the wind blows, doesn't really matter to me, to me

Mama, just killed a man
Put a gun against his head

...
Thunderbolt and lightning - very very frightening me

Infinite character design potential. Land slides, skies, no sympathy from Ike, has superborken mobility options, winds, flying, killing people , thunderbolts and lightning that are very very frightening.

Robin needs a land slide special and a crown, and we're in it. That or we can get Mercury Ridley.
Don't forget, he's also:
  • A rocket ship on his way to Mars
  • A sex machine ready to reload, like an atom bomb
  • A shooting star leaping through the skies
  • A racing car passing by, like Lady Godiva
  • Burning through the sky at 200 degrees
  • Travelling at the speed of light
You just can't stop him now. I get the feeling he'd be a lightning bruiser type character, with a much better air game than ground.

I'm interested in seeing how Sakurai would choose to incorporate the "sex machine" part.

Well, people. Tomorrow is the day that Super Smash Bros. for 3DS officially comes out in North America and Europe. Well, at least in my timezone it hasn't come out yet. But for those of us who still haven't gotten the game yet, let us know that our days of speculation are long past us, and that we can now finally enjoy the game for what it is.

I in particular have enjoyed coming to this thread since the beginning of 2014. I have made many friends, fans of both Fire Emblem and Smash alike, whose bonds have grown with me even when things seemed dark. But we persevered unlike many others, and even in the face of doubt, we made it clear that we wanted Robin playable in Smash, along with the likes of Mario, Link, Samus, and Donkey Kong. The fact that this dream even came to be, in spite of all the odds, makes it seem like even more of an accomplishment for us fans.

I hope that in the years to come, that Robin will continue to spark interest in the FE series to newcomers, and will continue to be awesome in the future installments of Smash.

And as for the Nintendo 3DS version of the game...there are just so many things you can do while playing Smash on the go. I in particular have one thing that I've always wanted to do with SSB4:

Yes, I wrote that entire post with the intent purpose of using that image in this thread.

So basically, "Our bonds are strong?"

I've definitely enjoyed the journey. While I haven't been at Smashboards for most of it (regretfully), I've enjoyed the little time that I have had with all of y'all (grr, I'm editing a Southern friend's essay right now and she's rubbing off on me)!

I've been playing Smash for the past 3 hours. I set it up so I was Robin against an Ike and a Marth with items on in Arena Ferox. Every single match, Ike ended up pulling off Great Aether against me (sometimes twice) and I never did beat him. I'll try again tomorrow, but for right now, Ike shall be known as my greatest rival. This game is awesome.

So. Work sucks. Got about eight hours before I can pick up smash, the anticipation is killing me.

Give me more new impressions, I gotta have my fix.

More detailed responses coming later.

Robin was pretty tough to master but feels pretty fulfilling when played well. My first time running out of Thunder I was like "Why isn't this working...oh cra-".

I kinda wish Thunder and Fire were switched as specials. I keep getting them confused.

Went to that Gamestop tournament I mentioned earlier.

:4robinm: and :4sonic: put in work. <3 Got knocked to losers second round, but I routed Losers Bracket and came back on top just a few minutes ago. Not bad for not having played the game for a single minute before, including the demos.

Brother's gonna enjoy the free copy of Smash 3DS I got him. Can't wait to tell him I beat his hopeful main Little Mac to get it. :p

If I could get away with it. I tended to use ArcThunder and ElThunder more, the former for the Levin Sword setups and the ElThunder to keep offensive momentum or turn momentum around so I could go on the offensive.

The most WTF moment I had so far:
Sonic (and Shadow) speaking German.
The voice actor isn't particularly bad or anything. I just really didn't expect that. I don't know if I just set Generations to English or if German Sonic only became a thing since Lost World, but it really caught me off-guard.
If it will continue to irritate me I might just switch to English, that way I'd get rid of Daraen, too...

Had a blast playing locally against a friend for hours yesterday. Tried out a lot of the characters, but in the end I came back to Robin. If nothing spectacular happens, he'll be my most played character indeed. Not that there was any doubt...

Call me a predictable fanboy, but I'd have to go with Cloud Strife from FFVII. And he better have a Zack alt, too...

For me? Well...I don't want to make it too obvious.
I'd gladly take Colonel Radec from Killzone in Smash, even if his move set were a carbon copy of the one in Sony Smash Ripoff.

I was planning to drop Robin because I didn't like Awakening that much, but damn... She is so fun to play. Guess I am back to tipping scales. :4robinf:

Palutena though... Didn't enjoy her playstyle at all.

By far, Robin is the character most fun to play as for myself. All of her attacks feel so nice when they hit, especially when the Levin Sword does.

I need lots of practice with Shulk, way too many close calls for my Online Matches, but with Robin, I just feel the power. :4robinf:

Yeah, I would totally let my 12 year old play a game, where almost all the characters cuss like pirates and kill each other with swords.

Great for the kiddies. :shades:

MEGAMAN!!!!
Well, my 11 year old brother was obsessed with it and for the first time ever, he was invested in the personalities and character growth of game characters. Even though there are swords and the worst language is "dastards," it's still a great game that is more appropriate for younger kids than CoD, GTA, and DMC. I played LOTR and Kingdom Hearts games at age 9 and I turned out alright. Also, kids who are "too young" to play FE by your standard are way too young to remember Star Fox in its heyday.

I played doubles until 5 AM last night.

Game is too goooooood.
Online? How did it hold up? My tries in the Japanese version were alright but lagged a little. It'd be great to know that online is better now.

Got the game!!!

It was sweet to take on Robin as my Mii, but after so, got down to try him. He felt bit difficult to pick up first due all the mechanics I had to remember, but that has a good payuback: Robin feels immensely powerful when used well. He has lots of tools too, but I'm bit difficult with trying to pin down using his Levin Sword Aerials in a good timing.
Goshers though, sweet and amazing character to use! Those lightning slashes will always feel like something went cracking my spine. ``(->v<)´´

Pac-Man surprised me with his absolutely fun and versatile moveset (maining him now) but I don't want that to detract from using Robin. Right now they along with Palutena constitute my Newcomer For Glory-trio.

Still gonna take my time. His taunts are quite fun too, even if he still feels bit "introverted" in his voice.

Children know StarFox?

Almost all of my classmates never herd of the game. :T

But yeah, you gotta point, based on what I played, it's great for kids, gameplay wise/appropriate

Better then COD. B)

Here here. I can't pick up my copy until the evening today because of school and a long drive back home. First thing I'm doing is fighting as Robin, though.

Anyway, I haven't been around long, but this thread has been a ton of fun. I hope it at least stays somewhat alive even with the speculation on Robin pretty much done at this point.

It's Smash. No shame. ;)
I got it (I was person #2) and am on the bus back to my dorm. If only I didn't have to meet with a professor today... but at least I have it!

Hey guys, how's life?

Would anyone like to hear my speculative views on :4robinm::4robinf: in Smash 4 and how my opinions developed based off events that happened?

I hear you. I'm stuck here in classes and I can't get my copy until afterwards. Good thing is, I can get it almost immediately after leaving.

This thread won't die, silly. It's too valuable as a multipurpose thread to simply become inactive.

Nah, "damn" isn't considered too friendly a word and is probably the worst word said in the game. Which, granted, isn't that bad, all things considered.

Plus breast size discussion, Tharja's existence, some random sexual themes here and there... I wouldn't really put it up there with Mario in terms of being "appropriate." I can at least understand it getting a T rating in the U.S.
It's probably appropriate for young kids in Japan, sure, but not particularly appropriate for young kids in most other places, but, yeah, it's better than letting kids playing rated M games.

I **** you not, my first For Glory match was against a Falcon.

Sadly, Falcon Punch connected this time. :(
