Who could possibly find me adorable?:088:I think Link will be very strong in Smash 4. He can definitely out-spam Robin. No doubt about that.

That said, Arcfire will be GREAT for getting in on him. What is more is Link actually has problems killing in Smash 4, where as Robin does not. Overall, I think it has the potential to be a slow match-up, but I won't say who has the upper-hand. My guess is a 50/50.
?

Link hardly seems THAT much better? His recovery is better, sure, but his mobility is still awful. When you look at the likes of the threatening zoners in this game (DHD, Pac-man, Greninja to name a few that we saw in the JP tourney), Link's zoning is pathetic in comparison.

Also, another quick question, er, 2

1) whats shipping (and I dno't mean really life boat shipping cargo

2) what the hell does :4greninja:'d mean?

edit: what about the avengers? I reeeeeaaaaaallllly loved that movie.

Shipping is when you want two fictional characters to hook up.

2) Gren(Ninja'd) is referring to someone posting just before you did, usually saying a similar thing.

Well, for one, grimer is pretty adorable for a living puddle of slime...

Though it's hardly as adorable and awesome as you! :3

From what I played of the Demo, Link is vastly improved from his previous incarnations. Though his projectiles still aren't exactly great, I love his new running attack, the improved strength on a grounded up B and his general feel now.

Of course, all that may be moot in a competetive setting, so there's that.

I disagree. All three of his main projectile tools seem improved. The boomerang is notably faster, which will help a lot. Dair is weaker than in some versions, but the landing lag is basically halved (comparable to L-cancelling in Melee), and a double bounce is safe-on-shield. With a little bit of extra speed, I think Link has a lot going for him.

My only gripe is his new kill move, the dash attack, is a little too heavily telegraphed.

I think Pac-Man can be elusive at times, but he's among the more vulnerable characters when someone is actually on him. Thank goodness for that hydrant drop.

So where did it come from, what like after Greninja reveal trailer apparently 'stealing' mewtwo's spot light.

Not that I hate mewtwo, I actually really want back now for some reason.

:4greninja:'d means someone beat you to a post.

I was :4greninja:'d on the shipping topic.

But since I aim for logical explanations:

Pairing characters together romantically(or at least friendship like), like:

:4lucina:x:4falcon:
:4metaknight:x:4lucina:
:4zss:x:4littlemac:
:4palutena:x:4lucina:
:4robinf:x:4falcon:

Just as an example, before I piss off any shippers.

The problem lies in the fact that Link does not have the mobility to actually pressure with his projectiles.

Arrows have always been near useless and this game is no exception. Using bombs well requires link take to the air, where he's more vulnerable. The Boomerang is decent, sure, but his game looks very much the same as previous versions. It's not like he's suddenly Project M Link or something.

People used the word 'Ninja' to describe it beforehand. His name is Greninja. Fairly simple.

Wait, does shipping have to be romantic or can it just be a good friendship?

Edit: @ Raziek, sorry, still a little confused about :4greninja:'d

Those are interesting trophy descriptions. Do you mind if you can post the ones for Luigi, Pit, and Dr. Mario?
Luigi (Classic): "Luigi recently celebrated his 30th anniversary with the Year of Luigi, but all that attention just made him even more shy and awkward. In Smash Bros., Luigi takes a lot of cues from his brother in fighting style, adding flair to moves like Super Jump Punch. His taunts, however, are truly unique."

Luigi (All-Star): "Luigi may sulk when his down taunt is used, but his little dejected kick can actually hurt a nearby enemy fighter. It can even trigger a meteor smash! Notice an enemy leisurely hanging from the edge? Run over and pout on the edge—that foe will be the one with something to pout about!"

Pit (Classic): "Pit is the captain of Palutena's royal guard. Despite the wings on his back, Pit needs the Power of Flight from Palutena in order to truly fly. In Smash Bros., he can still get more air than most, with four jumps and a special move that boosts him higher. He has a new reflect move—it protects both sides!"

Pit (All-Star): "Pit's side special Upperdash Arm delivers an uppercut so strong, it can send foes flying for a KO. If you miss and fall off the stage, Pit's up special can bring him soaring back. Another of Pit's specials is Palutena Bow, which fires arrows Pit can aim even after they've left the bow."

Dr. Mario (Classic): "In the 1990 puzzle game Dr. Mario, Mario threw on a white coat and decided to take a shot at that whole "medicine" thing. In this game, he's a balanced fighter who can throw Megavitamin capsules and nimbly deflect blows with his Super Sheet. He's not quite as quick as normal Mario, but his attacks deal a bit more damage."

Dr. Mario (All-Star): "Mario and Dr. Mario are only slightly different. Basically, Dr. Mario is stronger, but his MD slows his speed and lowers his jump. He also has a move Mario doesn't: Dr. Tornado, a down special that can trap opponents before launching them. You can move left and right while doing it and press the button repeatedly to rise into the air."

I do like the blatant wit these descriptions have. Just like Brawl's trophies and Uprising's Idols.

To "ninja" someone is to sneak in a post before they do, typically saying what they would post before they could.

Greninja is a ninja, so he is a Smash-flavoured spin on this long-standing element of forum culture.
The problem lies in the fact that Link does not have the mobility to actually pressure with his projectiles.

Per chance, do you play Link competitively? Setting up bomb usage is actually simple so long as you can grant space, and they are actually very powerful to have in your hands. Barring Little Mac, I am not too worried about being able to set them up in Smash 4.

Arrows are a complex matter. I wouldn't say they are bad in Smash 4, so much every moment is precious, and naturally the Link player is more inclined to use the bomb and boomerang. I won't write them off in Smash 4 yet, but at least the start velocity will make it more applicable in the less-than-often extreme long range.

I don't play Link competitively, no, but I did dabble casually in Brawl. He really doesn't seem significantly different than Brawl, which is why I say what I do. I don't think Link can really force characters to play 'his game', so to speak.

Funny thing is that the Pokemon community Greninja'd us using "Greninja'd."

The projectiles have more launch power, though. This is one of the most defining differences.

In fact, I would be so bold as to say it is actually on par with the Japanese version of 64... which is huge. Keep in mind in Brawl, the projectiles were kind of pathetic; usually the victim could find themselves gaining ground on Link, even after taking a boomerang or a bomb. This is changing in Smash 4, which has more force and angular launch power on impact. Half of the cast will actually be at a deficit when they let themselves take a hit, which will help Link better control the tempo of the match.

Another thing that bugs me, aside from the slowness of the dash attack, is I really wish the Gale Boomerang was not the default. :|

I can't say I am a huge Brawl or PM player, but coming from the 64 version and Melee, I'm really looking forward to Link.

As I said before, I've never been a competitive player. But to me, a casual player that likes to dabble in some matches for glory every now and again, Link feels significantly better than in Brawl. Though I might have to try him out against the full roster to see if the improvements actually matter in the grand scheme of things.

Once again, the Robin social thread is more informative about how other characters play in Smash 4 than the actual threads for those characters. :smash:

Wait, there were differences with system different for 64, I thought it was just melee, huh.

Also, I kind of like the gale boomerang, i mean, it is safer on reflectors and is better in sm4sh

For whatever reason, Mr. Sakurai saw it fit to nerf Link from the Japanese version. ._.

... And basically nerf him for the next two games after that.

The thing is I'll never say the Gale Boomerang is bad, because it's not. It's just not my style. Given where I play the character the most, my feelings should make enough sense.

Link feels pretty meh for me personally, but I've been spoiled by his badassery in Project M. He's not terrible, but I don't like his kill move options, his fair, dair, or Up-b.

BTW, Lucina x Palutena is Smash Bros canon according to Sakurai himself, so that's not a ship.

64 Link is easily my favorite iteration. In fact, I dislike playing as every Smash iteration of Link except 64 Link.
With that in mind, I like this iteration of Link. On top of his recovery actually being...a recovery, I agree with @ Hong Hong on his projectiles being more effective at keeping opponents in disadvantageous situations. In Brawl, Link's projectiles were just too slow and didn't give enough knockback to actually be effective and make up for the fact that Link is so freakin' slow.
I'm not saying Link is "good" this time around, it's a bit too early to say. But I think he's much much better than Brawl Link, at the very least. Not that accomplishing such would've been very hard.

Once again, the Robin social thread is more informative about how other characters play in Smash 4 than the actual threads for those characters. :smash:
You're right...

Hey, everyone, let's talk about :4dedede: because Dedede sub-forum is dead despite my efforts to bring more life into it... Which makes me sad face.

Dedede looks solid. He's got great aerials and throws, a pretty decent projectile (great in edge-guarding situations), and a hilarious down tilt. His recovery is pretty nice too, but I don't think you can cancel his up-B anymore, which is a little rough. Overall a great character I would say.

I would agree if they weren't reflected so easily.
What I do like, however, is it seems as though all three variations of the Gordo Toss are viable options. That will allow for nice mix-ups.

I'm not sure if he can or cannot cancel it, but Dedede is able to actually grab the ledge during the animation now.

And, yeah, d-tilt is extremely amusing and silly. :4dedede:

Looks like DDD Fair got sped up, or at least the new animation for it makes it look faster. I like.

Also DDD got a new Final Smash not because of Bandanna Waddle Dee but because Villager could possibly Pocket a Waddle Dee and use it outside of its intended purpose, causing the game to crash. :V

Same reason why the Centurions are missing out of the fun this game.

Doesn't explain Chrom though.
