I hate doing things online or on the phone when I have the alternative to do it in person.

Job interview on the phone or in person at the place an hour away? Sorry, I'm already in the car, driving to that interview.

Ok my bad. I usually buy in person rather than online so I don't much about shipping.
I see what you did there.

On a side note: Robin's competitive skill is still high, we've just got to get used to SSB4.

What about true and @ False Sense False Sense questions?
That can still be delivered by multiple choice, though.

Basically, I hate text fields that look for preset responses. Often you can enter something that is 100% academically correct, but it's not among the pre-determined variables, so it marks you wrong.:157:

But I like robots. Especially the cute ones like R.O.B. and Wall-E.

North Americans have fun with my name, I can tell you that.Maybe after work.

I'm a mechanic. I work in the clocktower. It's a TaskO'Gears.
I'd join you guys, but I've got work too. I'm an actor for a Shakespearean play company. We're doing one of Shakespeare's tragedies in a language spoken mainly in Northeastern Spain. Everyone will be playing the title character.

It's a BasqueO'Lears.

I got just one like. @ NonSpecificGuy NonSpecificGuy pls. :sadsheep:

On the Link topic a few pages back, I feel as if he may play a tad similar to his Melee incarnation just based on my experience from the demo. Bombs now have a four second timer, so bomb recovery is now possible again alongside Link's buffed vertical distance and momentum compared to Brawl's god awful version.

Bombs also now have much lower KBG to set up like their Melee versions. The Gale Boomerang has a bit more oomph to it, so it may set up similar to Project M's boomerang. I'll run more testing on it later after this comment. Link's bow I honestly have no idea on as I didn't really test it out.

The main thing that struck me more than anything was Link's improved close quarters game and air game. Link's been my most used character across every version of Smash since the N64 days. I'm really excited for most of these changes, though there's some I'm not too fond of.

Fair basically sucks now. It's lost its KO potential significantly. I didn't run any set up tests with it, but it doesn't seem to be as effective as sourspot nair set ups. Link's floatiness leads me to believe his aerial game will most prominently consist of nairs, dairs offstage, and uairs for juggles and KOs now. However Link has received a tremendous buff that will make his aerial and combo game incredible.

His bombs no longer damage Link when they make direct contact with the opponent.

This is incredible considering how versatile Link's bombs are now for their low KBG. He can combo OoS with a bomb. He can set up nairs, dair spikes, or a KO now. It's much more versatile than ever now. I'm really looking forward to his future in the metagame now.

I love the Gale Boomerang in this game.
It's so easy to throw it over a far away opponent, charge up a Smash attack, then the Boomerang comes back and pulls the aforementioned opponent directly into your grasp.

I've had it happen before where I'm playing a free for all and AI Link tosses a gale boomerang at me while I'm charging a smash attack... Pulling me to the exact spot I need to be at to kill a different AI. Good times.

Thank you for the valuable insight.

I'm so glad to hear my impressions on the fair isn't just me. Coming from a 64 background, it's a bread-and-butter finisher, so I find myself naturally inclined to use it. I'm just going to have to scale it back unless I really need that extra range on a retreat or something. I think what it is, is Link feels very different in the air this time. Everything but his nair and fair is a little different in some way.

That said, I don't see anything colossally out of place based on what I've seen. (Which does not include Zelda, so I profess no opinion on her)

@ Hong Hong

You're very welcome. I ran some tests on the demo with fair first and second hits. Fair first has very little ending lag, so it acts more like a set up move now. Second hit just knocks them away. :urg:

I also noticed Gale Boomerang's lag after toss was significantly reduced after checking it on the Link forum. It functions like PM's set up boomerang, though not as good in my honest opinion. It's literally capable of performing combos into itself if that gives some insight on how little lag it has.

Bow is just...Brawl's bow but faster. It's just a spacing option.

I agree on his aerial game. I find it better personally as it's more functional for my preferences. Nair is still as good as it's always been. Double bair strings are a thing. It's going to be odd not using fair as a primary forward KO option. Nair gimps against poor recoveries, or dair KOs offstage will probably be his primary early KO options now. Uair hits with more knockback it feels like.

You mentioned a 64 background. Do you know KnitePhox perchance?

Not personally, I'm afraid. Maybe we'll share controller ports someday, though I've been horribly stringy when it comes to travelling far for 64 tournaments, and I refuse to play online.

I have just got the demo and have been playing the crap out of link and trying not to get l and R mixed up (it's so hard!). While I do agree that it is unnatural not to finish opponents off with fair, you have to see that with all his buffs without this nerf if it was what like in Melee and brawl, link could have been close to OP. However, I think it is similar to young link's where instead of it as a kill move, it is more of a set to kill move, get out of my face move and a move to get the opponent off the stage and set up of dair or nair or something. That's just my view anyway

Edit to @ NonSpecificGuy NonSpecificGuy , I both love and am annoyed at you. Annoyed for our the likes, why so many? and Love you for the likes because I got my third trophy

I recommend either sticking with that setup or stop playing the demo so much until you change the controls with the full version. I fully intended to switch them ASAP, but I was distracted by shiny newcomers and only switched them (and turned off tap jump) today. Now I feel like I'm starting from scratch. Still, I guess nobody can stop you from playing the demo (nothing would stop me).

I understand your situation all too well. I'm only doing local tournaments within my town as I have to rely upon transportation coupled with low income, and I have no proper computational device to play online anymore. Phox was the fellow who introduced me to competitive Smash using the N64 emulator to play Smash 64 online some years back. It's good to know another fellow Smasher with a 64 background.
