I honestly don't think anything they show in Fates would earn the game an M rating.
Worth mentioning this:

Is in a Teen rated game.
(Thought about spoilering it, but again the ESRB thought children could see it, apparently. If you think I should tell me)
The dialogue that I've been seeing is enough for a high-T but not M.

At the very least, consider that Fates is definitely more manageable in regards to censoring than, say, Sweet Home, which could be described at the time as Famicom Resident Evil(and was its predecessor), and the NoA censors didn't dare touch it. Granted, that was the late 1980's, but still.

It Fates were completely uncensorable, then we would run the risk of not being able to see it in the West. It might end up rated M-rated*, even, but if there is a price to pay for localization...

*I don't believe this is happening if only because Peace Walker is just as explicit as any other Metal Gear game with M-rated elements yet still remains T. Not the most effective comparison, all things considered, but Fates is stuck in a similar dilemma.

I was actually thinking earlier today how wonderful it would be if that were to become a thing in Fire Emblem in the future. And then this happens...

It's like a sign from Naga herself that I absolutely need this game in my life. ;w;

Oh this is so wonderful~

I'm a bit disapointed that there is only one option for each gender (this is coming from a straight man, btw), since it really leaves no real choice. Couple that with the M/M option being Nohr only and the F/F being Hoshido only (though both apparently will be in the 3ed route), it kinda sucks there is no real choice for the Avatars who aren't straight.

Still, I'm proud of Nintendo. Its progress.

Luna is gonna be mah waifu in Fire Emblem Fates. I was gonna go with Shara, but her dad is Tsukuyomi, and he's only in the Hoshido version, and I'm gonna be going with Nohr, so Luna's the best option for me

More games need to be like Pokemon X and Y with the worldwide releases. Or, at least release this game closer to the Japanese release.
I understand how big this game is, but holy damn this is gonna be torture.

Confirmed it'll be 2 separate versions and the DLC will also be sold apart, better luck next time.

It is hinted at that Not!Tharja, Not!Gaius, and Not!Cordelia may in fact be the reincarnations of the versions of them who died in the Future timeline. And that Kamui might be Future Grima!Robin's reincarnation

At least, that's what Not!Tharja's supports imply


Also, apparently Luna x Odin S-support has a direct callback to their Awakening supports

I mean, even if they did that, it would definitely cost a lot more. They've been doing nothing but talking about just how much content is in the 3 storylines, so there's no reason they wouldn't charge an appropriate amount.

Sorry you're poor, but what they're doing is completely reasonable for the effort that has gone into it.

I am kinda not sure what to think now... that reveal regarding the expies makes some of the choices I make in awakening non-canon now... and what's worse ruins a lot of what the fanfiction I am writing uses as its personal canon. I just... I know it sounds stupid and pathetic, but, I kinda feel like I'm on the verge of tears right now.

I could really use someone to talk to through, just to figure this out...

if it was completely uncensorable, they wouldn't not release it. They would release it with M rating if it's really that bad.
Flat-out not releasing it would be a terrible business strategy.
But we already know it's getting released here so that's not really important to discuss.

I doubt much if any of it is getting censored considering same-sex marriage will exist. Ask a depressingly large amount of people in the US what the worst thing in the game(s) is and they would say that.

Course I don't really care what rating it gets since I'll still be buying it lol

I'm joking and am sympathetic to those new to the series who may find the older titles more punishing, but most are quite reasonable in their difficulty, and Sacred Stones is considered one of the easier Pre-Awakening FE titles.

Anyway, I'm quite glad same-sex marriage is a possibility in Fates.

I have just realized just how many were affected. Who Lissa, Cordelia, and Olivia married determined the hair color for Owain, Severa, and Inigo respectively. So, I guess there is a canon pairing for those three... maybe not Cordelia because getting Severa's hair is impossible.
It does suck that the choices you made for Owain, Severa, and Inigo, although minor, were pretty irrelevant as a whole.

I don't think the choices you made for Tharja, Gaius, and the others were affected.

But I paired F!Morgan with Inigo in my game, and is one of my favorite pairings. Either now its non-canon, or I leave Lazward pairless and don't recruit his kid.

And what does this mean for Robin and Lucina, their amiibos are in the game. What if they say something to canonize after Awakening stuff? Even if it doesn't disconfirm the pairings, what if it implies Lucina left like in her unpaired ending? I don't want that to happen.... and it contradict what I have done in my fanfiction, and I hate directly going against canon....
