I can't be the only person who doesn't mind the children returning at all.

It appears to be the end of the world as we know it for some.

I don't really mind it, but I'm hoping they either create a new excuse for why your future kids are fighting alongside you, or eventually drop it if they don't. I think the idea is neat, but it kind of hinders the plot in a lot of ways by requiring they throw time-travel into the mix.

All that said, man it's going to be difficult dodging spoilers for 6 months, but if I'm lucky I'll be able to play the game relatively fresh. Most people here are pretty good at not spoiling stuff.

Also, I think Corrin is a better name than Kamui.

Where is this interview people are talking about?

I'm pretty sure they won't be time travel to explain the children characters. It doesn't fit in the "Tale of Two States" scenario of fates.

Seems more fitting for an epilogue. Something like 20 years later..., and add the fact that anime characters never age.

On the one hand Lucina is well, Lucina, one of the characters I wanted the most and the only newcomer I really find fun, but on the other, Roy is SO GOOD THOUGH and he was my main in Melee for a long time but I dropped him for not being good.

EDIT: And before "Why not both"? Because I only want to use one sword-wielder...my other secondaries need to be different types of characters.

I'm a bit stuck on this decision too, lol. I love the power and flashiness behind Roy's moves, and really just everything about his design and assets in this game are great. But he does have very real drawbacks of mediocre recovery and less range than Marcina. On the other side I love Lucina as a character and want to rep her given her underdog status, which is getting less and less relevant anyways given the buffs Marth and Lucina have been getting in the last few patches. But she still feels undeniably harder to be successful with since she lacks the free damage off throws and the plethora of kill options Roy has. But! Dolphin Slash killing at reasonable percents now! And those delicious jab mix-ups!

...I think I'm just going to end up playing both as secondaries to Robin. Three characters is still reasonable, especially when two of them are semi-clones anyways. Hooray for sucking with equally!

Sometimes I see people say Awakening ruined FE, because all those new mechanics and waifus among others, I always wonder if people don't release that FE is alive because those extact same features they put in the game.

Who have guessed FE will turn out like Pokemon where some people still can't stand things from gen 3 onwards? so now we have people that can't stand from Awakening onwards I guess those people prefer the franchise to die like it was going to, for completely ignorable mechanics.

Fates will be amazing and I am saving money right now for the bundle not confirmed yet, because I really want that, I can't even give myself the luxury of buying Mewtwo, Lucas, Ryu and Roy. FE has always been a favorite franchise for me and a little of fan service is not going to change that ever.

I uh...actually doubt about the story the most, I didn't like Awakenings plot and children returning sounds like a high chance time travel will return, which is the main reason why I disliked it so much. Sorry for the misunderstanding (?).

Honestly Roy doesn't even play like a sword character in many cases, you have to be next to your opponent to get his sweetspots, and spacing isn't something that really matters much to him. He is also a combo heavy character, so he basically plays like a much more precise but not as quick Captain Falcon. I'd say you could play both him and Lucina and still get enough variety.

Have you played Renka no Ken? the plot is actually pretty great, Awakening's plot is simple on purpose a really confusing or complex plot would scary somepeople away.

Awakening was all about nostalgia, Awakening was meant to be the farewell, they put much of the mechanics of various past games, they even bring back Akanea as Ylisse

Awakening's plot is simple but not bad, time travel seems justificable enough, you can have the mechanic from Geology without having to kill every member in parents gen.

With the unexpected success of Awakening and its mostly new fanbase IS can make a step further from Awakening's plot, Iwata make a big deal about the story writter for Fates apparently the guy is at least recognoized in Japan to have the story in his hands.

I see Fates as an improvement in every single aspect from Awakening

I have read people saying child characters are not part of the main story so there that is.
