this is what i think is missing from our community.

this is something you cannot get with a pinnacle though its something people need to invest in... I know jaxel he invests hundreds of dollars.

main thing though is the right hardware/software.

keep your inputs

Well I can tell you what jaxel uses :

4 port Audio mixer - 70-100 bucks ( his was more about 300 dollars )

Headsets ( his were about 300 bucks each but he mentioned how expensive they were cause of that mic...it was kinda redic )

Computer ( I asked him it cost him 3K but he uses it for a lot of things so one with 5-6gb of ram would be good with a good graphics card + cpu )

Cables ( duh but a mixture of XLR cables and ish )

Capture card is a black magic / built in one ( 300-400 high end b/c it supports comp cables +and needs a specific comp to be ran )

Yea it takes a while.

I pretty much have Jaxel confirmed but we will wait until thursday. I want the melee community to see what quality apex will be giving and get excited. Plus this stream will also be doing our UMVC3 / AE2012 / MK9 stream as well so we are talking AT LEAST 5-6k viewership all the time .

uh only on sunday which is championship sunday

The first two days are basically going to be like this

Pool matches
Brackets

Between those ( since we will have lots of down time ) will be ran by The Directional Influence crew and feature live interviews and discussions about the event and players.

Think of it as a mix of Fox NFL Sunday and Gaming.

The main idea is to leave the stigma that we only play and support our game and use a stream that

a-) has the respect of many communities
b-) has a quality that is beyond high
c-) mix the schedule so that FGC watches some smash and vice versa

Since we will be working with Local battles we will be getting at LEAST 100 people from the FGC and we applied to be an Evo qualifier so we can get more press.

So basically yes, the games will all be on one stream.

I understand the benefits of that, but I hope you understand the negatives and why a Melee fan would be against that. I'm sure you're much more concerned with pleasing the mainstream than us Melee vets, and if that gets more attention for smash then I'm all for it, but when it comes down to it, at the biggest event of the year, I'd like for Melee to have a stream of its own so as many hype matches as possible get streamed.

I suppose it doesn't matter to me that much though since I'll be there :)

Uh you do realize that on sunday we will be showing ALL the Melee top 8

i think you misunderstood.

Day 1 : ALL MELEE ( we will finish melee by day 1 aka...getting to top 8 and stopping til sunday

Day 2 : ALL BRAWL ( same as melee )

Day 3 : Championship sunday...so basically we play each game one at a time til its done..

so say we do mk9 first we finish it then we do SF then we do Melee etc etc

get it now? All the hype matches will be happening on the stream.

That sounds ****ing beast. I don't want to hear any whining or complaining or (god forbid) chanting about other games going on the stream or whatever.

Haha no I got it the first time, I was just commenting on how it could be a 3 day Melee event rather than an (effectively) 1 day event + top 8.

I'll be interested to see how you manage the space between days too. I'm assuming the floor plan will change between days? To emphasize the tournaments for each day?

(note: I'm not trying to dehype at all; I already bought my tickets. I'm genuinely curious)

well thing is we have a set plan so that we dont have to change it....One room is for sponsors so we will have sponsor booths / side events / casual stations / etc

second room will have all the setups day 1 and day 2...day 3 it will be set up as just chairs + setups for the livestream so ppl can watch.

I know but we are trying to emphasize production and creating more than just a tournament. Now I think EVERYONE in the melee community will want 3 days of melee but we are confident that this will help bring people into the community for the future. We have to go beyond what we want and give people more. That is why we want interviews / discussions on air / etc.

Smash will have a HUGE amount of people recording ( thanks to juggleguy and company ) and we will also have those up ASAP if not same day ( will talk to ppl about that ) We will be getting only the best matches online. And when sunday comes along you will see the EIGHT BEST players in the world playing one after another no waiting or anything.

Its not that its one stream or not its more of what we did last year and learning from that.

Last year we spent so much working with VG bootcamp to get to decent streams. After that year we realized that we want to make a GREAT stream and spreading things between 2 games when we should be using one stream and get a WAY better production value and more efficient for us is best.

Evo did this with MVC and AE one day was AE the other MVC and last day was both. I think that is best for our community.

like i said if we happen to miss ANY matches we will have at least 8-10 recording setups just for melee and about 16-18 for both games.

That sounds ****ing sick dude. And it will make the communities mingle, which is a good thing.

Yeah, its a sacrifice, but I think you are doing it with the right vision in mind. Good clux.

Just a quick question on this: when you say "online," you mean on youtube right? Cause one of the things I'm worried about is our community losing its youtube presence as we get more and more streams. I love streams, and I think they are great for the community, but youtube gets a lot of audience too (in fact, I think most smashers come from youtube nowadays) and we shouldn't abandon one of our community's strengths....

Online yes we will have all Vids on youtube. It will be on the main groups channels ( juggleguys / progs / etc ) so we will have a lot of that.

Our goal is production value on the stream and to make sure all recordings are of good quality.

If I were doing something on a smaller scale ( A Zenith for example ) It would be a bit different. We are using this , even more so than last year , to create something beyond just grassroots. At least we hope so:)

No one is going to want to watch that stream...

...when they could be smashing at the venue.

But seriously, looks tight.
