Thoughts on what I can improve on? Either Lucas-speciifc and/or general fundamentals, I got one win and one loss for each video to get as meaty critique as possible

There videos ain't really new, as I posted them weeks ago, but m mom confiscated my console and I don't get it bak until later on so I can't upload anything new until them. One thing I already figured out from these is that I gotta stop using the Usmash, I almost never land it and get punished almost every time I use it. Please help me ...

Found this video on RED's youtube channel. Showcases dthrow > nair > footstool magnet cancel > fair reset twice in 1 match. Definitely looks like this combo could be very usable.

You can footstool from dthrow nair aswell? Jeeebuz Lucas got so many jablock setups that its crazy, i love this character!

Here's a match from my day 4 Lucas. I went 0-2 this day and I was pretty unhappy about all the mistakes I made but...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOIn9jklDdo :4lucas: vs :4pikachu:
...I came back next week and tied for 5th, even getting a chance to take on Boss and his Captain Falcon (Which is either not uploaded yet or it wasn't recorded. I'll edit it in if it shows up). Needless to say he beat me good, but it was quite a learning experience. I need a better punish option for low-lag smashes than grab. Does Lucas have anything to do so or do I just need to be more patient after characters like Pikachu FSmash my shield?

a lot of the time i use PK fire to punish stuff. it deals 9% fresh which is really good and it covers a lot of space. plus at mid percents if the opponent doesn't tech, you can hit them with dash attack or read their get up option for a better punish. obviously if you have enough time to get a grab or short hop nair, then do so, because those options lead to a much larger punish if you know how to combo.

Okay, so I feel like an idiot for losing this match. I lost to a Mario that barely moved. I honestly have a really tough time dealing with players that play very defensively, plus I'm still getting used to Lucas. I'm trying to play him like I did in Brawl, but it doesn't always work out.
To be honest, all he really did was spot dodge everytime you approached, so you could've ran past him and pivot grabbed him everytime. And evertime you got close, he'd usually charge a smash attack, so you could've baited that and grabbed him from a far. I could definitely see how you struggled though. Players like that are annoying to fight against!

My friend PK Blueberry released another combo video! It has a few other characters in it, but since he's a Lucas/Ness main I think it's still relevant and entertaining.

The doubles combos in the last minute where he's Charizard were actually the GF of a big TN tournament from last week we were at. It was such a gambit and it paid off with first place.

Let me know what you guys think!

I like reflecting things

Lucas has been blessed with the best fsmash sfx
You are not alone friend! seems pacman have a rough time with Lucas! He can totally wreck the hydrant, zair ftilt (sweetspot) for instance works great!

I decided to upload two videos from todays session

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CDqnh9sQNs

I have to tip my hat to the Lucas board for showing me that a double PK freeze can kill, its hillariously disrespectful!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbytrNfqXcM

I've noticed that around 70 % a bair from dthrow can set up for nice opportunities! The otherday i got a double bair to usmash and it looked sliiick aswell!

This Sheik did me in pretty well, first stock of mine was a series of good punishes. (can't believe Sheik can ff a fair into my spot dodge, and have time to punish me). Any advice?

This was against a Roy, Two stock victory.
Neat Iceberg kill on first stock.
A new lil' Highlight from a friendly earlier today. Probably gonna check out the last kill in the lab tomorrow to see if its a real thing or not!

I carry offstage as BowJr. , but I never thought about lucas having that potential, nice.

Two other vids I uploaded.

Another match with the same Pac Man

Me playing on a /v/ tourney. Also Castle Seige is jank.
2:47 grabs really bug me, shorten the visual snake, or make him shut his mouth or something, it could clearly grab fox, both times.
Nice dsmash kill and edgeguarding btw

my advice with the sheik match and playing Lucas in general would be to space moves more, like rope snake and f-air. You should be keeping more of a safe distance between you and sheik because she has faster attacks.

Also never go for a up-smash at a high percentage or in general unless you know it will hit,not the best chance move.

And there where parts in your fights against sheik and Roy where you grabbed them at low percents and threw them off stage, you should ALWAYS go for a down-throw to combo off of. You probably could've hit them with a n-air to up-air combo or n-air to f-air (depends on DI). I'm just saying that you could've got more out of thrograb then them being off-stage.

It's usually better to only use his other throws when they can KO (wich it helps if you don't use them and stale the throw)

Hey mang! Your Lucas isnt terrible by any means but some things to keep in mind:

  • zair is pretty much your greatest tool for poking, spacing and even sometimes setups, learn to use it, learn to love it!
  • Keep the usage of Dsmash and Usmash at a minimum, They have long start up and long endlag - and you'll get punished while having that pesky KB multiplier from charging a smash attack. Save these two attacks for hard reads (the Dsmash can be used with great effect as a ledgeguarding tool aswell)
  • As you surely noticed while facing of a Shiek or any other rushdown characters for that matter you probably noticed that if your pk fire missed, you will most likely be punished. So be mindful of when you use your PK fire, approaching with PKF? Allthough not a good idea, wavebounce it. It can be used much more safely if you're retreating with sh. If you're opponant is close to you, I'd say you're better of with using retreating zairs to poke, since it has no landing lag at all.
  • Dtilt is a BEAST after 1.10, The close hitbox of the Dtilt, can setup for grabs close range which was pretty much impossibru before 1.10

Just things at the top of my head, if you got any questions or anything just give me a shout. Glad to see you here on the boards, Lucas for lyfe!

Thank you very much! I highly appreciate your comment.
I still need to get the hang of wavebouncing, the inputs havn't "clicked" with me just yet! Well, I'm learning and improving (hopefully).
