Drew, if my math is right that makes no difference, it's the same ratio of payment just scaled upward. The main effect it has is it encourages ppl to enter more stuff cuz now the door price doesn't scale with whichever events you enter, but is now a flat rate. I'm excited about this new venue because it sounds awesome and if it is I don't mind paying, but let's not lie about basic math, lol.

edit: you know i hate charging a door fee as much as Chris, but what i want people to know is that running tournies isn't cheap. Running 12 different wiis and tvs with lights and such drains alot of electricity, thats why we need to charge it, otherwise we won't be able to keep up with these tournies. But the reason we charge the door fee, is so that we have a 100% pot, thats because we don't want to take anything away from the players.I know that gigs takes entry fee money out of the pot, they only give out like 65% of the total entry fee. The new venue is defenitly worth it, trust me. So i just ask all of you to bear with me, so that We all can build a tournament to remember.

And yet, Ruse has never charged any door fee through any of his five tourney so far.

Understandable when it's an actual venue you pay to rent out though.

I don't understand why in a house, you need to charge 5$. I could perhaps understand 1 dollar, when ur expecting 40 people.

My roomate and I's total month bill is 120 at the end of the month. and he is jobless and just plays games and watches T.V. at the same time nearly all day everyday. And I'm home playing ffxi and doing ssbm about 4-6 hours of my day.

30 days... only 120 at that rate of electricity use.

30-40 members 5$ each is like 150-200 dollars. I really doubt in 1 day. You are charged that much money.

Places charge a 5$ door fee for profit. Like Cyber Landing or w/e that place was called. he only charged 5$ and obviously had way more stuff continuously running that wasn't being used. he had way more set ups than any of the house tourneys. Why would he forcibly lose a profit for us to have fun? He didn't he obviously was making profit, and you must've been as well charging 5$ for about 6-7 T.V. running vs that places what? like 14?

Just sayin... lol.

I mean I appreciate you running the tournament. and I know it takes work. But if your wanting a small profit for your efforts just admit it.

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand a Door fee, at a outside 3rd party place. Because obviously it's a business.

Drew lives with his sister and brother in law, who dont like people over his place, the only reason they let us host a tournament at his place that one time was because they were told they were gona make $5 dollars per person that showed up... (they wont ever do it again, cuz someone hit their car)

When we played at Nicks, he used to have one crazy moder fuker as a roomate who was 30 years old , who i bet wasnt happy with the ammount of people that showed up.. but he at the same time was offer money for it...and so did the other people that stay at that place.....

I know these places are not worth $5 but unfortunatly it was the only way we were able to get these people to cooperate with us.... the new place that Chris is talking about.. is gona cost us $200 the hole day.... so taht means if we dont get more than 40 people to show up, we will paying out of our pockets....


We love the game, and the smash community..We are just tryng to keep this tournaments going at least once a month, and this is the only way we were able to do them.....

When Derek offered his Club house we couldnt accept it because we cant just pick a place is not 100% in our control... u never know if someone could have said anything or complain for the ammount of people there... i personally didnt see the place, but i bet if 40 people showed up .. someone would have said something...

THe next tournament is going to be a $5 venue fee, and its gona be worth it...

Electricity sucks, but you don't run up $100+ from one day of Brawl.

$1-2 fee is kind of reasonable, but still stupid. Wiis don't even use that much power.

Guys I understand paying people off and electricity fees but you have to realize that we could literally hold a smash tournament anywhere. Even outside on FSU campus in the middle of nowhere, as long as there are plugs.

My clubhouse is MY clubhouse. Its use is covered in my rent money. As a resident I get to decide who stays and it has nothing to do with my apartment managers. 40 People is fine. Noone is even there on the weekends.

You shouldnt be looking for big venues, you should be looking for venues where people dont mind you playing. Id rather not have a tournament at a place where we need 40 people to break even on a fee that we dont even need. And if we have more than that? Who keeps the money? Its just too sketchy. If yall wanna run a business then make a business but make it professional. This is just a game that we are all trying to play.

Guys, try to remember that there have been more than a few occasions with massive amount of smashers heading to derek's clubhouse back before brawl and there was no problem. We were loud too! I want to try Chris's place to give it a chance cuz it sounds cool, but financially speaking it would be best for everyone at Derek's clubhouse which he defnitely has control over.

200$ for the whole day is a ridiculously low amount for this place to charge. Just for the record....

This venue normally charges 100$ an Hour, and we have it all day!!!! And because i am an employee, i was able to cut an amazing deal, and get the venue, assuming we can cover the costs. Not every PHB needs be held here. it is a large commitment and very generous of my employers to even consider holding such an event here. The clubhouse could be used for most PHB's or whatever the Fvck we're calling it now. This upcoming tourney will be to see how it plays out, and we could hopefully consider Gymforce in the future for largely advertised and hopefully huge attendance blowouts.

5$ door fee, while hugely undercharging for such a venue, is still 5$ that could be spent elsewhere, and we understand. But for anytime we choose to use gymforce as a venue, that door fee will need to stay in place!

Hope the picture posted on the link will prove to anyone who is against the door fee that it it necessary and more than reasonable to anyone who plans to attend.
