(Sorry for reposting this, when the original post got messed and the image went nuts.)

Sonic fans when Project X Zone 3 is finally released and features Sonic the Hedgehog characters from the get-go! (now they want Pac-Man):

I love making fun of myself, even if I still posting this class of things lol

Christ I remember these. The mid-late 2000s was crawling with these plush toy virtual worlds. Webkinz still the GOAT though.
You weren't a real Webkinz gamer unless you got the Crown of Wonder

(I never got the crown, my mom gave me hers cause she played too)

I remember a rumor that Neopets would hack into Webkinz and kill them. If you got sent a black present in Webkinz, then Neopets got you so you had to discard it or else you'll be hacked.

Of course that's ridiculously untrue but little me did NOT want his Webkinz to get killed.
Didn't play it much, so the only thing I remember about Neopets was that there was sandwich you could get that was literally just a giant tongue between two slices of bread

I tried looking this up just now and can't find anything, so this might be an implanted memory from the lizard people

Webkinz was also directly responsible for my current Pokemon obsession. The timeline goes like this:

-Love animals as a kid
-Webkinz gets me into collecting animals
-the Lilo & Stitch show gets me into collecting animals with strange powers
-How to Train Your Dragon gets me into collecting dragons specifically
-I get a DS and start to get interested in Nintendo
-“Man, if only there was a Nintendo series about collecting various animals with strange powers, especially dragons.”
-I start to see commercials for Black & White

It was all downhill from there :054:

My Pokemon timeline:

-Receive copy of Leaf Green from extended family member
-Oh, it's a game and a cartoon?
-Starts game and Oak gives me my choice of 3 funny little guys

-Picks Squirtle
-Wonders why the move labeled "Tail Whip" doesn't do any damage
-????????
-Gets entire box set of the first season of Pokemon anime

  • Little me thought Pokemon was for nerds
  • Little me also grew up with Melee
  • Little me purposely made fun of Pokemon to piss off the fans at the summer program
  • Little me somehow got ahold of Pokemon cards. I genuinelly don't remember how, I never asked for them.
  • Little me saw my friends playing with Pokemon cards, and I wanted to play with them too.
  • On little me's 8th birthday (which was months later), I was able to get a game from Toys R Us. I wanted to try a series I never played before.
  • Little me picked Pokemon Black

Worst mistake of my life.

And now for my own timeline:

-Parents thought anime (or at least the anime on Cartoon Network) was gross at the time, so I did as well
-I start to watch Pokemon a little more growing up
-Get Melee as a gift from my cousin and realize that Pikachu and Jigglypuff are actually pretty cool (I didn't play Melee with friends much and I also sucked at the game, so I didn't unlock Mewtwo until many years later lmao)
-Get Pokemon Pearl as one of my games on the DS and gain a newfound appreciation of the gameplay and Pokemon themselves
-Get a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon game as well and become a Charmander
-Watch the anime marathon on Cartoon Network and start to care about the human and Pokemon characters alike way more in addition to it's stories

I missed out on Gen 5 of Pokemon, though. I'm not sure if that's for the best or not.

Also I'm surprised but glad to know I'm not the only one here who became a Pokemon fan because of Melee lmao.

I had dragon autism ever since I was really little so it was easy for me.

I saw an episode of the og anime on Boomerang that had Charizard in it.

Then later I got a copy of Pokemon Fire Red for Christmas one year and it's all been downhill since.

Alright let's see what my story was...
  • Be me
  • Be 10
  • Be rifling through your stepsister's drawers (with permission of course, I was a good kid)
  • Find Pokemon TCG cards
  • hmmmm.jpg
  • Look up these funky critters online
  • Watch the anime a whole bunch
  • Forget about it for like three years because Total Drama monopolized my brain
  • Then midway through gen 7, get a 3DS
  • Sure, why not
  • Pick up Pokemon Y
  • Pick Fennekin and name him Dave after a favorite Total Drama character of mine
  • Brain chemistry is changed forevermore.

I think my first experience with Pokémon was as maybe a 3 or 4 year old. My parents got a VHS tape which had 3 Kanto episodes and Charizard was on its box; the episodes were the one with the mines, fossil Pokémon and Ash’s Charmeleon evolving, the one with the human hospital starting to take care of injured Pokémon, and the one with James having to deal with Jessebelle and her Vileplume (this one made me really like Vileplume to where I usually had it on my team in each Red or Fire Red playthrough, nicknaming it “Wildplume”).

I also remember seeing some other episodes on TV, like one with I think a magician or similar dude (I think Ash’s Charizard was still a Charmander and there may have been Bellsprout or Exeggcute/Exeggutor), at least part of the Crystal Onix one, and one with an Eevee. I think the daycare I went to played the Johto movie with Unown, too, and I remember the Houndoom chasing the other Pokémon in the short side story or whatever it was (I’ve seen that movie more than just that time but don’t remember everything xD).

I believe my first game was either Red or Fire Red; a friend I had in 3rd grade gifted me the ladder. I loved both, though I don’t think I ever beat the Elite Four in either until I got older, maybe as a pre-teen though I’m not sure (I could’ve been 15 I don’t know for sure lol). There’s a chance I could’ve played Stadium first, but the GBA feels more likely.

I played on a blue GBA SP, and my grandma gave me a green, grass-type starter themed skin to put on it (I think it has Torterra on it too despite Gen 4 being for the DS). I still have the GBA somewhere in my house I think, though I now play on a refurbished Pikachu GBA I got within more recent years.

So, I’ve loved Pokémon ever since I was a little kid, and Pikachu’s always been my favorite. I also played and loved each generation as they came out, except Johto and Hoenn which I played and loved too but only after either Gen 4 or Gen 5 was already out (and for Johto I first played either HeartGold or Stadium 2). I remember having some plushies and a little Poliwhirl toy that had a ball inside the bottom of its feet so it could roll around, too.

also I asked my Grandma for Pokémon Yellow at some point as a teen and she got it for me too, I loved it as well. I also played it on an emulator and I loved trying to do the different glitches I read about online and catch MissingNo. + other glitch Pokémon or turn my Pikachu into a water-type with blue fur instead of yellow xD (I also did the MissingNo. glitch in my copy of Red, it did not become unplayable or corrupt the save data so jokes on you Nintendo).

my office, probably
  • be me in elementary school
  • kids in school talk about this cool show called Pokémon
  • parents don't allow me to watch it for some reason
  • few years later
  • make friends with this kid whos really into Pokémon
  • my mom starts illegally downloading movies for me and my sisters, i ask her for the Pokémon movies
  • i watch many of them on repeat and because i am a dumb 10 year old gain a very superficial understanding of the franchise and don't know how to dig deeper
  • friendship with that other kid ends and i subsequently hate Pokémon now
  • move schools, meet a kid who likes Pokémon, I mock him and then we start talking about Sonic and become friends
  • my new friend group talks about the new Pokémon game a lot and eventually I decide to get a 3DS
  • get Pokémon Y as my second game, pick Froakie
  • after beating the game for the first time I am not satisfied and decide to play it again, I ask my friends for tips regarding the type chart
  • they give me bad info so I decide to look online
  • 11 years later, I am now a bigger Pokémon fan than my friends who got me into Pokémon (I am still in contact with them) and have the type chart memorized

Day 29: The House in Fata Morgana
No meme, instead, here's the top 3 best reviewed games on the Switch
IMG_20250330_094929.jpg

Source in case you don't believe me, these also are not user reviews anyone can leave behind but only professional reviews from outlets: https://www.metacritic.com/browse/game/nintendo-switch/
This game is very special to me but I am also kinda cheating, I didn't play the Switch version but I need to recommend this, the Switch version includes some bonus short stories and has more CGs which are always nice to see. As for the game, it's a visual novel, you enter the house of Fata Morgana as an amnesiac, to which you are greeted by a maid. The maid decides to help you by showing you these 'doors', sharing some stories across different time periods to see if they jog your memory. I can't really say more but this game is beautifully tragic but I was doing very poorly mentally and this game was recommended to me. Oh my god, this flatout masterpiece was so gripping, so touching, so heartbreaking, no game has tugged at my heartstrings more than this, around the ending, I simply could not transition to the next part of the text because I was too emotionally distressed for literally 10 minutes. I was crying so, so much during the scene prior, the stories in this game are simply put, amazing, complimented by the outright phenomenal score, the game said to wear headphones for the optimal experience and my god I did not regret a single second of that. The Switch version is a bit more expensive but the Steam version will run on pretty much anything I reckon. This game is so, so beautiful, that it managed to get picked up for a live action adaptation. It's super early in preproduction but despite not having much confidence, I want to see that. As a bonus, I'll link my favourite track

Please give this a shot. This is a truly unforgettable experience and more than deserves the fact that it's one of the best reviewed titles on Switch
