Live-action Disney remakes need to die though. Waste of effort, just carbon copies of the animated originals when they can be using that money to make more original films or to people in need around the world like the children of Africa.

Just a desperate attempt to recapture that magic again.

I feel like, something people are missing with characters like Mickey Mouse going into the public domain is that you aren’t just limited to the original Steamboat Willie design if you want to use him. That’s the only pre-existing design of the character you can use freely, but you can create a new design for him and call him Mickey all you want. Redesign and reinterpret these characters instead of only making additions to the very first version that you can technically use. As long as it doesn’t look substantially similar to the Disney design, they can’t touch you. It’s what’s been happening with characters like Sherlock Holmes for years. The “iconic design” doesn’t have to be the only design.

Keep the mouse as far away from Africa, thank you.

I finally organized all of the games I own across PC, Wii U, 3DS, and Switch into a single backlog.

85 games total, not counting virtual console games on Wii U and 3DS and also some games I don't think I would play anymore and of course not including all the games I don't own and want to play. But before I buy or play anything else (aside from new releases), I have to beat these 85 games.

Tomorrow I will calculate how long that would take me, wish me luck.

Even a Kirby movie, which I think would do alright, would definitely be more niche.

I think the only other Nintendo franchises that are guaranteed blockbusters are DK and Zelda. Everything ranges from decent success to absolute flop.
Keep in mind MCU was able to make B-D list Marvel characters become household names, even if they only made movies about those B-D listers because they legally weren't allowed to make Spidey and X-Men movies at first.

I see this argument all the time but people forget that Marvel made a whole ass cinematic universe and established that watching every movie will be rewarding in the long run. I'm not saying that's the only reason Guardians succeeded, but it's definitely part of it.

And given how the consensus on the Mario movie is that you'll only really get anything out of it if you're already a fan and also how a Smash Bros cinematic universe is a concept that fundamentally does not work, I don't see Guardians' success being replicated here

Which is why I think Smash would benefit more as a series whether western animated show or anime.

Illumination Smash Movie script:
in a fight with Ridley
Mario: Hey give me a hand, this dragon's breath smells worse than mushrooms!
Link: EAT MY BOOMERANG! throws and misses
Samus: UGH, can you boys take this SERIOUSLY?
Luigi: Well, at least he isn't targeting me! Ridley appears behind him
Luigi: He's right behind me isn't he. Luigi Screams as Ridley chases him into a pipe, Ridley gets his head stuck
Luigi:... Haha YES, you just Got Luigi'd! Ridley gets back up
Luigi: uh-oh...
Ridley menacingly walks as they're all cornered cowering behind Samus because suddenly they're incapable of fighting anymore
Suddenly Kirby shows up and Swallows Ridley Whole

Kirby: Mmmmm... Poyo!
Everyone has Suprised Spongebob face
Mario: Well that just happened

This is the single worst combination of lines of dialogue I have ever seen, congrats

I really want to see a Goku/Superman Potara fusion. **** who would win, I wanna see what happens when you combine the two.

The same goes for Mario and Sonic.

Funnily enough Whedon is one of the few writers who can write dialogue like this and still keep everyone in character. He's a creep but he's not a bad writer most of the time
if only that was accurate with Josstice League

I think you all under estimate how easy it is to write a smash movie.

Sakurai busted his ass to make this work for you all already.

there’s several easy ways.

1) It’s Toy Story but Nintendo. Except we don’t see the toys outside of the story being crafted. Sort of like the lego movie. Villain is master hand. You don’t need any ore established reason why these characters are here and you can go as hard as you want on the fight scenes.

2) remake melee’s adventure mode. Various worlds are under attack. Peach or someone else uses magic to bring the strongest heroes in the world together to stop the villains. Throw in an OC as the leader of all the villains from different franchises.

3) Adapt sub space. Honestly probably gonna be a mess no matter how you do it.

4) do a scaled down world of light. All the side characters start getting turned to statues or possessed. However you want to do it. This still forces the characters to fight each other, you just use less of them.

The hands are taking over world and no one knows why or how. Leading heroes to team up, and maybe some villains.

Like it really shouldn’t be that hard to make a solid enough plot out of this.

Personally I think the first one would be peak.

Imma keep it real with you chief

This would be a licensing nightmare and would be way too many characters involved in the plot alone to the point most of them would probably not even get lines. It's not worth it.

I never said 3rd party characters are coming. They are staying out for sure.

Also if you did the original 12 to start you’d be fine.

if you want to solve the lines issue, then break the movies into two parts. One group has half of how many characters there are, and the other gets the other half.

have both stories lead to a reveal and the second part is a lot of ass kicking getting done.

if Keanu reeves can say like under 1000 words in John Wick 4, and get 100 percent from critics, then hype the hell out of the action and focus on that.

I just like focusing on character more than pure action and a character like Samus does not thrive in a movie that goes 'action segment to action segment'. Not that I trust a Metroid movie attempt to begin with seeing as most people are dullards who would not appreciate what I'd want from it

I think you could do a samus that speaks and reacts pretty well. Let Brie Larson give it a go, she seems to be a diehard Metroid fan and really wants to play samus.

I ain't in favor of a Nintendo cinematic universe.

You wanna keep it Mario and Donkey Kong, by all means. I can't see Zelda transition to the big screen.

I think you just made a certain number of people on the internet hemorrhage
Lol I don’t personally hate Brie Larson. She’s ok in captain marvel but that’s because Feige literally said “we have no clue what to do with her” with no direction, so of course she would struggle in that role. Sequel looks interesting I suppose.

if she has a good pitch or direction for samus then I say let her try.

I don't hate her either lol. I'm just imagining certain people, maybe they're even on the boards, I can't be sure, seeing this and being all "You want Samus to TALK!?! And you want her to be played by SHE WHO SHALL NOT BE NAMED!", like you just named two of their least favorite things.

Considering how many characters a Smash movie would have, even if they just focused on the original twelve, I don't imagine they could properly develop everyone. So I'm not hoping for any adaptation.
