I know we haven't seen the elemental monkeys yet but seeing Furfrou and Patrat are good signs to me.

EDIT: Made a fix

No one was expecting them to pick two starters from the same generation as part of the line up.

Clearly Gamefreak doesn't care about stuff like that. They're gonna do what they want :drshrug:
I’m not gonna lie, I think it would’ve been funny if they went with Turtwig instead considering the setting of this game

Well I'm still in D6 purgatory, and to that end, I decided to shove a special piece of art in the oven. And a lot of edits, sizing and exhaustion later, I got something I was happy with!
1740710439187.png

Sonic had been rushing through the Lost Hex for what feels like ages. He'd smashed through countless brainwashed Badniks and had to deal with countless traps the Deadly Six had set for him. But he was willing to do whatever it took to get the Red Rings back. What did the Deadly Six even want with them? He wasn't willing to sit around so they could pull off whatever diabolical plan they had in store. It couldn't have been good.

And now, he finally had one of them where he wanted them.

After speeding through the depths of Silent Forest, he'd cornered Zeena, who he had been chasing for the past two hours in a desperate hunt to try and get his hands on whatever he could from the little brat. She always seemed like the weakest link on the squad. She'd be easy to get talking.

After what might've been the easiest boss fight of his life, Sonic leered down on the teenaged girl.
"Tell me, snowcone!" the hedgehog growled, "What are you doing with those red rings?!"
"Haven't you been listening to a word my friends said this whole time?!" was the girl's rebuttal, "What we're doing with those rings has nothing to do with you!"
"A likely story!" Sonic scoffed, "Last time we met, you were trying to drain my home planet of all of its energy! You almost killed everything I ever cared about!"
"And we're sorry!" Zeena defended, "That was from a bad judgement call! Things were desperate, Sonic, and we needed the extra strength so we could defend the solar system from-"
"Will you cut it out with the excuses already?!" Sonic interrupted, clenching his fists. "I know what you Zeti rats are like! With all the trouble I've dealt with before, with your stupid plans AND having to deal with Zavok and Zazz at the Olympics and when I was racing...there's nothing that has proven that you Zeti aren't nothing but trouble! And I'm here to get the truth out of you, Zeena, cuz I know how you're just a lazy, spineless coward who thinks she's SO much better than me...when really, there's nothing you're actually good at except working on your pointless, menial fashion junk. And you know that I'm not wrong...don't you?"
A tense silence filled the air now. The formerly-defensive Zeena had gone totally quiet, as painful memories of her past were flooding into her mind at full force. Tears of pain were welling up in her eyes, and Sonic knew he had made his point very clear. He didn't even notice the shadows gathering around the two.
"I thought as much, punk," Sonic sniffed, "Now tell me...where are you hiding those red rings?"
"I won't tell...I won't tell you..." Zeena whimpered, sniffling softly as she tried to bite back the tears. "Maybe you're right that I'm worthless, but I'm not gonna let my team down like that..."
"Then you leave me no choice," Sonic huffed, clenching his fists tightly. "I don't like doing this kind of thing...but to protect Mobius and my friends, I'll do anything." He raised up one of his fists and-

"DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH HER!!!"

Right out of the shadows that had gathered behind Sonic, leapt a certain smaller, but all the more furious Zeti, soaring right above Sonic and placing himself between the hedgehog and the girl Zeti.
"What are YOU doing here?!" Sonic shouted, half furious that he'd been interrupted, and half shocked at the sudden intervention.
"This coming from you?" Zor growled, "You're the one who invaded our home out of the blue!"
"Yeah! So? I was gonna stop whatever rotten plan you Zeti freaks came up with to destroy Mobius!"
"For the love of the God That Will Come...How many times do we have to say it? THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR WORLD, HEDGEHOG!"
"You're lyi-" Sonic found himself interrupted as the smaller Zeti blasted a ray of shadows at him.
"No, we're not! We're done messing around with you! Do you really think we're so obsessed with Mobius that we'd try this many times to do crazy stuff to it? Read my lips, you blue buffoon!" The goth Zeti pounded his fists, "We promise you, no harm is coming to your world. I know you find it hard to believe us, but NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO MOBIUS. You have those Chaos Emeralds, right? You can protect Mobius if things come to that point. But what we're doing now...even if we are your enemy right now, what we're doing will do you no harm. The Red Rings...We're bringing them to other people in this galaxy. They need them, and we need their help to stop something...terrible. I'm sure that fat twit Eggman can tell you about...them."

Sonic was silent as he gazed at the two. Zor still kept a hateful glare fixed on the hedgehog, and Zeena lay behind him, staring up at Zor in true amazement and gratitude. Tears still streamed down her face, but Sonic could sense there was joy in those tears as well as fear now.
Eventually, the hedgehog hissed "Fine. So you're telling the truth."
"Glad you finally had the sense to absorb THAT much," Zor snarled, "Even if you somehow think that someone as wonderful as Zeena is 'worthless'?!"
Sonic's blood ran cold as the young Zeti's fury returned in full force. "Okay," Sonic stammered, "Right, I know that sounds awful, but I was-"
"YOU THINK THERE'S ANY EXCUSE FOR WHAT YOU SAID?!" A shadowy field now formed around one of Zor's claws, a sure sign that he was preparing an attack fueled by rage. "Going so far as to say that she's NOTHING she's good at?! Maybe you think you're above us cuz you're 'the fastest thing alive' but do you REALLY think you have the right to judge us when you spent so long refusing to listen to her just because you trusted our word THAT little?"
"Take a pill! I'm sorry, okay?!" Sonic retorted quickly as Zor clenched his claws tightly, "Yeesh, aren't you supposed to be the nihilistic, nothing-matters one? You act like you don't care about anything, but you sure seem to care about Zeena. If I didn't know better, I'd say-"
"What? That I love her?" Zor interrupted, then, without missing a beat, spoke loudly and proudly - something Zeena wasn't ever expecting to hear from the usually-melancholic, nihilistic Zeti.

"WELL, I DO!"

I think I made Sonic come across as a bit too meanspirited in that little fanfiction. But maybe I'm biased, Zeena IS my favorite character ever after all and the way Sonic went "I'm sorry you have so little important to do in your life" to her (when really, her nail art IS important to her, and I think how important something is to you is what matters first and foremost) always bugged the heck out of me, even if it WAS kinda funny. Plus I do HC that Zeena has a lot of self-esteem issues, and Sonic does feel like a character that could shoot his mouth off sometimes. Heck, a lot of the plot of SLW came from a severe error in judgement on Sonic's part, so I think he'd be prone to saying some mean things occasionally. But I do think I went too far (and I am terrible at writing characterization for the blue blur anyway). Idk, what do you think?

Alright, I had a thought while catching up on sleep last night, and this is how I would personally do a Deadly Six-focused spinoff game.
The game takes on a traditional 3D platformer style much like a classic Rareware game. Essentially, where Yooka-Laylee was a modern spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, this Deadly Six game would be a modern spiritual successor to Donkey Kong 64 - BUT would improve on the aspects DK64 gets reamed over.

At any time, you can swap between the six different D6 members to traverse the expansive levels. Every D6 member has some standard capabilities. They can run and jump, of course, and also break into a sprint to get around faster (though not Sonic levels of fast...usually), and allow them to jump further too. They also have a selection of melee attacks where they use their horns, claws and tails. Most interestingly though, they share the ability to use their electromagnetic field manipulation to form a shield to deflect or move projectiles fired at them by enemies. They can't use this constantly obviously - even a Zeti's gotta take a breather occasionally, so you'll need to keep their electromagnetic abilities charged by pulling a Spyro and smacking up small critters to absorb their nutrients.

Additionally, each member of the Deadly Six has unique powers for fighting and traversing the levels. While playing as them, you'll also find unique food items to replenish their health if need be.
  • Zavok can send out powerful heated energy balls. While slow, they are mighty and have limited homing capabilities. He can also heat up his scales for a while and temporarily make it so when he is attacked, enemies will take damage too. This will also be useful for enabling heat-powered mechanisms for progressing through the levels. While playing as him, you'll find seared steak as health replenishment.
  • Zazz, being the group speedster, can break out into a "Super Sprint" after sprinting for long enough. In this state, Zazz can electrify his body, becoming impervious to melee attacks and being able to damage foes simply by running into them. He can also smash through certain barriers in this state. While playing as him, you'll find giant hot chili peppers as health replenishment.
  • Zomom is surprisingly athletic and is a good climber - he can climb up most, if not all, different walls and surfaces. He can even throw his sandwich at enemies, and it'll come back to him like a boomerang! He'll also be able to create giant shockwaves by performing body slams. He can knock out foes around him and even break through certain floors. While playing as him, you'll find turkey drumsticks as health replenishment.
  • Master Zik is accompanied by his trusty stick. It has LOTS of uses. He can use it as a powerful weapon and also to guard himself from melee attacks (essentially Master Zik is who you play as if you're a hack and slash fan). He can also throw it into a wall and use it as a pole to perch on or swing around to traverse the world around him. While playing as him, you'll find various fruits as health replenishment.
  • The ever-charming Zeena is able to use her electromagnetic powers to create tractor beams to lift objects. She can use these as a mace to swing around at foes, or to move them around for puzzles. She's also highly athletic. Of the Six she's the best of traversing icy surfaces, she can spin her tail around like a helicopter to help her jump around and slow her descent, and she's skilled at parkour, being able to jump between and run along walls. While playing as her, you'll find plates of yummy spaghetti as health replenishment.
  • The enigmatic Zor can summon a temporary shadow double to fight alongside him. These shadow doubles will also be able to sense where secrets are in the level. Additionally he can send shadowy-construct-bat-things to attack foes from a distance. He's also capable of gliding for long distances, making him by far your best option for jumping over particularly long gaps. While playing as him, you'll find delicious pineapple pizza as health replenishment!
Along the Zeti's many travels, they'll meet lots of aliens who will provide them help along the way, either by giving them advice or offering special goodies that can help you out in return for a few Rings you've collected. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to fight an invading alien force causing trouble in the galaxy - and they're targeting the Lost Hex next! Progress the game by collecting Red Rings to help the Deadly Six's friends expand their armory and prepare to launch a counter-attack against the invaders. Additionally, seek out the special Blue Rings to fight each level's boss, and search for the special Red, Pink, Yellow, Blue, Green and White Flickies to help each individual Zeti become more powerful!

The worlds the Zeti travel through are set in the solar system the Sonic games take place in. Along with the Lost Hex itself, which acts as your hub level, levels will include Planet Wisp and many other planets - a tropical world, a prehistoric world, an ancient temple world, a spooky horror world and more. There are also side missions to accomplish such as races with NPC aliens, timed collection missions and even segments where the gang hops on one of Zavok's mechanical dragons and fly through space to fight alien fleets.

And for an extra blast of fun, there's also options for multiplayer! Play with up to three other people to traverse the worlds together, or compete against each other in minigames.

Alright, I got tagged so the least i should do is a give a fair look at this because it's clear you put a lot of heart into it

In all seriousness I do not like these kinds of games so I cannot fairly judge, biggest idea that comes to mind is that Zavok should probably grow like Chunky Kong or whatever to reach higher places and to bully smaller enemies, seems more appropriate than the selfheating thing. I'm not too sure the skillsets listed or the Zavok change I suggested would reasonably work for a collectathon but hey, I'm not one to disregard the love and passion but into silly little ideas.

Eh. It’s pretty well designed for a game about the Deadly Six. And who am I to begrudge people’s weird passion projects. And the fact that it has actual NPCs and characters in each world instead of just a whole lot of nothing with two people in each world, it’s already better than Sonic Frontiers. I will say two things.

One: I think it would be neat if you came up with some sort of reason you’re able to switch characters on the fly. As much as it makes the game easier, it always breaks my immersion when characters just switch out in mid level with no real explanation like they’re friggin Ben 10.

Two: since the main characters are, in every sense that matters, bad guys, I think it would be more fun if the overall driving narrative of the game was them trying to do something sinister instead of just protecting the lost hex. You could even still have the aliens and interplanetary threat thing, just change around why we’re going after them.

Pardon me, then. I just remember that you've been very supportive of my D6 talk and I thought you'd enjoy it. My bad that it isn't a genre you vibe with - I just thought it'd fit the Six the best.

But the whole Chunky-style growing idea is great - I think it'd fit Zavok very well given the final fight with him in SLW. Plus I DID say this game would be like a modern version of Donkey Kong 64. Going a Chunky Kong route only makes sense!

Thanks for the support.

Presumably there WOULD be a reason for being able to switch out on the fly. I'd be hecked if I could come up with one, but there'd definitely be one. (This might be a modern day Donkey Kong 64, but I'm not about to put people through the pain that was the tag barrel system.)

And true about the fact that the D6 are ultimately bad guys - at least right now - and thus the narrative of them doing sinister things would make the most sense here. I do have my own lore as to why the Six are doing more heroic things here, but that's a whole complicated spaghetti of what is essentially fanfiction connected to my headcanons, when really at the end of the day this is intended to be a fun game that I wish could be real!

I guess that's the beauty of the little D6 knowledge we have. We can see their goals how we want to!

Wow that was the fastest like I’ve ever gotten

Girl don't make up these ideas to please anyone beyond yourself, no need to try and convince me, you're doing this because you're whimsically combining your favourite things, so what if I'm a Rareware hater? I may not show it, but I genuinely think it's charming some random goober really likes these characters nobody else does and is so enthusiastic about em, only y'know, without trying to be ironic for funny internet points. It's the kind of unbridled optimism some of us need

Yeah, there's timed research that expires later today that offered Legendary encounters for each Raid you completed of any difficulty. Due to a glitch at the start of the week, however, the rewards weren't initially registering, so everyone worldwide got duplicate research tasks that auto-completed themselves as a make-up gift.

Literally if you log into Go right now, even if it's a brand new account, you get the original 3 Genies, Swords of Justice, and 5 Genesects, each with the Raid boosted 1/20 Shiny Rate with no strings attached/no in-game effort required (although it helps to have Ultra Balls saved up).
