Pokemon fan theorycrafting continues...

So, as you know, my Italy-inspired Purore region has a group of 19 legendaries all representing the different types, including my self-made Love type. Meanwhille, Rome, the capital city of Italy, was the hotseat for the ancient Roman civilization, which played host to some fascinating mythology. Perhaps the type-based legendaries of the Purore region can have their roots in Roman mythology! Here's some of the ideas I had.

Jupiter - the god of thunder, could be Electric-type :025:
Neptune - the god of the sea, could be Water-type :007:
Minerva - the goddess of wisdom, could be Psychic-type :063:
Mars - the god of war, could be Fighting-type :066:
Venus - the goddess of love, a shoe-in for the Love-type :113:
Apollo - this one's a biggie. He's said to be a god of archery, music and dance, truth and prophecy, healing and diseases, the Sun and light, poetry, and more. Overall I'm getting a fairy-type vibe. :035:
Diana - considered a patroness of the countryside and nature, could be grass-type :001:
Vulcan - the god of fire. Need I say more? :004:
Vesta - the goddess of the hearth, home and family. I think this is our best place for the Normal-type. :019:
Mercury - among other things, the god of trickery and thievery. Dark-type? :197:
Janus - said to be a god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings. Dialga, a lord of time, is a steel-type, and gates and frames are often made of metal. Steel-type it is! :208:
Orcus - said to be a Roman god of the underworld. Easy bet for Ghost-type :094:
Tempestas - said to be the goddess of storms and sudden weather. Easy money for Flying-type :018:
Terra Mater - goddess of the earth, potential Ground-type :112:

This leaves Poison, Ice, Bug and Dragon without Roman god counterparts. Need help to find these! :034::087::010::149:
If you want to go there, Poison could be Bacchus, the god of wine.
Bug could be Mellona, the goddess of honey.
Ice could be Aquilo, the god of the north wind.
Dragon is hard. Aesculapius was a god of health who was closely associated with snakes. He could work?

I'd also switch some gods around to fit the types better but that's just me:

Normal: Minerva. She's supposed to be the ideal god and "the plan for the universe personified." Like Arceus, I can see her being the normal type.
Ground: Ceres. She's a god of earth and an important one to boot.
Rock: Tera Mater/Tellus, replaced.
Ghost: Pluto. Not necessarily a better choice but he's much more well-known than Orcus.
Steel: Vulcan. He's a god of blacksmiths, I think he's a better fit for this than Janus.
Fire: Vesta. She's too closely tied to flames to not be a fire type.
Grass: Silvanus. God of the woodlands, enough said.
Psychic: Apollo. Psychic type is related to sun and he's known to inspire creators.
Fairy: Diana. She was closely related to nymphs and the moon, I think it fits Fairy perfectly.

Whoa, you know your stuff! Clearly my history classes kinda failed me on my Roman know-how.

All great suggestions - I especially like your idea for Bacchus. My very grass starter for the Purore region has grapes, wine and alcoholism as its basis, AND becomes part-Poison type. A perfect fit if you ask me - after all, it's called inTOXICation. So the Poison-type legendary being based on that too ties it together really well!

This fills out everything we need in terms of type and god basis! Man, Roman mythology is SUUUUCH a fascinating subject. Italy would be such a great region for legendaries.

Was able to get a Friend of mine to trade back and forth their BDSP Dialga and the Trade Evolutions, so I'm finally all set there. Just need to start breeding the remaining Sinnoh Dex out. I already have Milotic from my original run, so that annoyance is already taken care of.

Happiness Evolutions don't seem too bad. My Lvl 1 Riolu evolved with a Soothe Bell at Lvl 35.

If anyone needs BDSP Palkia or Trade Evolutions, I'm still happy to help out.

I just had the BEST idea.
Jazz Pokemon!.png

Jazz musicians refer to each other as 'cats' as a sign of respect. And we all know the jazz number 'Everybody Wants to Be a Cat'. Well, here's a jazz-inspired cat Pokemon with a piano motif!

It LOOKS weak (if very cute), BUT if you get off a Piano Crash, it'll change form into a whole jazz band of cats. I'm unable to draw it since I can barely draw that well as is, but picture it grouped together with cats based on other classic jazz instruments! Like imagine a trumpet-inspired kitty with trumpet valves for whiskers and golden brass cuffs resembling mouthpieces on its legs, or a bass-inspired cat with a bass-inspired pattern on its stomach and bass strings along its back. Lots of potential here.

I don't think it'd really fit the Purore region I've been doing since jazz doesn't really have history in Italy, but if they ever made a southern USA region with a Louisiana area, it'd be a lock.

oh my goodness this new trading system for Pokémon pocket is like, terrible

this **** is NOT for getting them rare cards, I might as well use it to fill up the Kanto dex and get the free Mew EX. And then dismantle that for craft points. :073:
