Really not looking forward to the inevitable “beyond is the only good version of this game” mindset that’s gonna stick in the community now. Especially when it makes so many changes that it just didn’t need to but did anyway because this is Max’s pet project so it’s catered to his whims and fancies.

There's some very minor balance things for lower tier characters that needed a little extra help but they don't change anything in a meaningful way. Like sure Thanos has the Gauntlet and can use all the stones now but it doesn't significantly improve him at all.

Then yeah, I don't see the problem.


Like, I know Vengeance has a more or less PC exclusive mod that adds over 100~ new demons, but it doesn't replace the base game.

On that note

It's funny how MegaTen mods that add so many new units to the game inevitably run out of sensible designs and just start adding anything with a 3D model at hand, including guest characters from Dx2.

Hey at least people won't say it's the only good version because it has X-Men.

Until they figure out how to mod new characters in.

Yeah, one of the reasons why the Project M/various other Brawl Mods never clicked with me back in the day was the general toxicity of the warring Smash communities. We'll probably have to see as it's more of a visual mod of a mostly dead game than anything else, and I don't expect someone like Max to get so full of themselves to the extent that they don't respect the original dev team. Max seems way too chill and knowledgeable as an individual to fly too close to the sun.

MvCI is a good game and I personally like the roster (Mega Man bias), it's just not the game it should or could have been. It's failures I generally fault Disney for more than the actual dev team. I still wonder to this day if they had just pushed the launch date back a few months to just before or after Infinity War came out so that the DLC characters were on the starting roster and a proper Season 1* had been announced. Like SFV at the time, I do think the gave was salvageable.

*I doubt X-Men/Doom would be in a Season 1 as the Disney/Fox deal closed in early 2019, so focusing on Capcom/MCU favorites early on like Akuma, Wesker, Star Lord, Loki, etc. probably would have been more likely.

Time for some Fortnite collab updates:

The Skidibi Toilet collab will be the camerahead, with the toilet itself as a backbling (redesigned to not use Half Life assets).
Starfire and Harley Quinn are coming back.
Mariah Carey is coming. Snoop Dogg and Shaq are getting Christmas variants.
Cyberpunk is on the way.
Both Star Wars and DC will receive new skins. Star Wars will be Samurai while DC will be Feudal.
Edit: The Star Wars skin will be Darth Vader Samurai. Original Darth Vader was previously a Battle Pass exclusive.
Also scheduled to return soon is Master Chief.
Another Edit: The DC skin will be Batman as a Ninja.

I think I'm just picky about mods and don't usually want to use them unless they feel like the added content is something original devs could have done.

1. An iceberg approaches the island. I don’t know about anyone else but I have a feeling a certain someone is waiting inside to sing a song about all they want for Christmas.

It’s kind of funny that MvCI’s criticisms include that it should have gone for a cel shaded art style, hence Beyond’s look. But SF6 went in the same direction art style wise just with a lot more polish and everyone loves it.

Emphasis on "a lot more polish".

I don't mind Infinite's art style (I think the effects still look great) and I imagine a lot more people wouldn't if the models of the fighters weren't so rough. It makes sense that fans look back on UMVC3's look more favorably.

Other updates, Christmas Snoop Dog is free and in addition to Batman,

Samurai Batman Harley Quinn is coming.

I’m guessing this is to tie into the animated movie coming out.

Idk. A lot of the old arguments and dominant opinions from when that game was in development and coming out still annoy me. I should just let it go.
