I remember reading that article while sitting bored at work the other week. It's kind of here nor there. Smashboards, to my knowledge, has no association with Smash Wiki so I don't think Warchamp cares about what they say. Whoever wrote it does seem to have a grudge against Venus's SSB Infinite proposal thread in particular. lol
I will say though that as someone who was somehow given a vote for the Official Tier List within the Smash Wii U/3DS Backroom, is that most competitive players left as it was easier to pursue their personal brand via the rise of social media and the increased involvement of Smash within the larger FGC/Nintendo themselves. There was already not much of an interest to draft a Wii U/3DS Tier List given the sheer amount of match ups to consider, so naturally no one was interested in even making an attempt to tackle an Ultimate Tier List.
Previous Tier Lists were mostly debated upon match up by match up and put up for votes, so it takes a lot of time and effort to contact Players and promote discussion among them. Most of the Admins of Smashboards are from the Melee/early Brawl era scene so as you can imagine have their hands full with jobs/families. For example, the site's former owner, AlphaZealot, for those who don't know, now works for TPC and has occasionally appeared in-person in Nintendo/Pokemon Directs.
I do think the Forum format still has it's place despite the rise of Social Media/Discord, it just depends on how well the format can be played to it's unique strengths.

As for the translation debacle... nah, Shiki threatens to r-word someone in the original, which is even carried over in a scene in the official manga adaptation. I know people who personally won't even touch the remake because they hate Shiki THAT much, despite the remake removing that line outright. Early 2000's Type-Moon stuff was VERY edgy. Reminder, Illya told Berserker to violate Saber and then behead her afterwards. (In the original 2000s game)

The wiki post was clearly made by someone who doesn’t understand Smashboards history.
I’ve been here since nearly the beginning (melee days).
The reason why this place isn’t the place to chat about smash is because of several key areas:
1. Mass adoption of Social media (namely Facebook around 2009 and ultimately Discord in 2015). People simply prefer discord servers + FB groups and events where they can chat as much as they want without fear of being modded, create there own rules, communities, and events that can be seen by a base of people 10000x that of Smashboards.
2. Mass adoption of Smart phones around 2010 (iPhone 4). After iphone 4 launched, more and more people grabbed a smart phone, downloaded FB (ultimately discord) and the migration of players was in full force. I know it’s hard to believe that there was a time where not everyone had a smart phone but that time did exist.
3. The major Smashboards hack of 2011 (2012?). The hack lasted a month and all we could view is the front page with a message from the hackers. I don’t remember if Gideon or MLG_JV were in charge at the time but they sought outside help to fix the issue. This was the nail in the coffin that essentially made everyone say “yea, social media is the way. It never goes offline like this.”
4. The natural decline of forum based websites. Old crust dudes like me prefer a centralized and organized base of knowledge (forums dedicated to games as it’s a one stop shop for all your questions and answers) but the public does not. They all wanna be the leader of a group, event, community and because of that, literally 99% of forum based sites (outside of Reddit) saw a massive drop in users and actively.
In conclusion, smahboards gets spikes in usage over the years post-2012 but it was never long lasting because social media took over. So it’s no wonder this site is on life support and we don’t talk about smash much. All the smash talk is on discord/FB/twitter/reddit. I won’t give up on SWF though.

Antstream Arcade announced today they have a license for Disney Games (note: Lucasfilm games titles were already present, this is for mainline Disney).
The first batch is Aladdin (SNES and Genesis), The Jungle Book (SNES, Genesis, and Game Boy), and The Lion King (SNES, Game Boy, and NES).
In addition, Goof Troop, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, and Bonkers, among other titles, will be added in the future.

Oh yeah no it's kinda toned down in the FSN remaster earlier this year so it probably is toned down here too, only really doing it when needed. They are twins. He Is clearly quite a bit older than her. I also wonder how they can both be the avatar as the lore kind of goes against that. It’s an interesting new idea and take on the cycle though.
