So we're basically half way through the second fighters' pass. I wonder who will be the remaining three?
There's a wide array of characters. But with many characters, a new barrier is broken. So that's always interesting.
I would still say general icons of the industry would make the most sense, even if people think Sephiroth is the end all, be all now. There's people who said that about Steve, given how huge Minecraft is to the general gaming public. Or that Simon was the "last" NES Icon. Or that K.Rool was the last major Nintendo character, and Ridley before him. And Cloud was also a huge deal. As was Ryu, Mega Man, Pac-Man and Sonic.
So Lara Croft, Crash, the Mishimas and Ryu Hayabusa are some of the first that come to mind right away.
Hard to say if franchises like Mega Man and Sonic will follow SF, FF and CV in having a 2nd character each, but I would personally be very excited by the idea.
Oh, and the seemingly obligatory Pokemon I guess.

: Characters who aren't relevant anymore, but are liked by fans.
: Echo fighters from 3rd party series.
: Echo fighter who shows up in a Final Smash before and currently.
: Western characters.
: Modern popular characters, Eastern and Western alike.
: Fighting game icon who's known for Latin America and Chinese popularity, also inspired the series.
: Unique Third Party character from a returning series. 3rd party villian.
: Personal favorite of the director being chosen instead of the mascot. Spirit Character is now playable.
The fact that things are more open than ever is a lot more interesting. To me anyways. And who's to say more of these supposed rules can't at least be loosened, if not outright fully broken.
