I feel like Sonic music has been better when it goes all experimental and invites artists from all over, like Micheap Jackson, Bowling for Soup, etc.

Tbh, I'm more disappointed how close minded Sonic fans are. I get the rap and similar genres don't quite get the best rep with gamers, but Sonic has always had a diverse set of musical genres from chiptune to pop to jazz to swing to rap to accapella to tribal/indegenous based musical and more. Like I understand wanting Crush 40 and all but ANYTHING can fit Sonic so it's a little irritating seeing Sonic fans only being able to accept Crush 40 and rock as "Sonic type music".

On that note, if we don't get a Cudi cover of one of Knuckles's themes, then throw it all away

TBH some of my most favorites from all the OSTs are the experimental tracks. Like, I absolutely adore the Mystic Ruins theme and Tikal's theme, I listen to them regularly. And the Knuckles songs in SA2 are amazing, I've legit looped Aquatic Mine for quite a long time whenever I'm in the mood to relax and want something chill on in the background.
