How are you all doing?

I haven't been in here for a couple weeks but rest assured I've been busy. I decided to keep my Hulu subscription after getting a free trial a couple months ago for my birthday. I've been watching Assassination Classroom and some One Punch Man. But what's interesting is that Disney did a deal where you can add Disney+ onto your Hulu subscription for a couple more dollars. So yeah, I have Disney+ now. I've been watching mostly The Simpsons and I started to watch Daredevil which is a really cool show. So yeah I'm suddenly drowning in stuff to watch now, lol.

Man if only there was a way to fix that issue.

I don't even want a particularly elaborate port I would be happy if it's just the game with better controls, no upscaling or anything.

“The 3DS eshop will end in a year so you can’t buy it anymore.”

Poor Pit, 2/3rds of his series will be locked behind the digital Nintendo vault.

Can't believe this went under my radar earlier today. I loved the 3DS game and have been waiting a good while for the sequel to finish being in localization hell the past few years. Looks like LRG is also doing the series first physical release which is a godsend given the Xbox Live original is de-listed and the 3DS game will be gone next year; Japan didn't get/hasn't yet gotten a physical release so this is extra surprising.

Also looks like the NES fan game Yuzo Koshiro's team made is getting it's own physical release for the first time as well after several years on an actual NES cart. Oddly enough it's getting censored from the original online release but considering much of the humor is about weight gain, I guess it makes sense. Just as long as the original ROM is still free to download, it's not a big deal.

Definitely pick up the 3DS game while you can. I can't recommend it enough.

Kid Icarus fans gonna be popping off until he reveals his Ice Climbers reboot.
Ice Climbers: Climate Crisis

(Ice Age took all the good ice related suffixes)
I was about to post exactly this but I guess I’m late to discussion lol.

Watch Sakurai revive takamaru as a character instead.

Didn't you call this like 6 months ago?
I mean

Not really much of a call when the dev himself posts a blog post effectively saying "****'s rough, we're gonna slow down production and see what happens from there."

Two people in my Granblue guild who actually work(ed) on Dragalia in certain aspects have been saying how grim the future looked for ages.

I'm still surprised we didn't get a DSiWare or 3DS eShop game. Ice Climbers seems like a game that would have been made for dual screens.

With today's new

I guess

Dragalia really did los(t).
Definitely a shame as I've heard a lot of good things about it. I just don't personally have the time/effort for more than one gacha. I haven't even touched FE Heroes and it's a game that's practically made for me as a series diehard/completionist.

I really wonder much of a missed marketing opportunity not even getting a Spirit Event in Smash was? I get keeping the markets separate but this seemed like a no-brainer all throughout the past three years.

A spirit event wouldn't have done much tbh. My guys were sounding the horn all the way back in 2020, meaning the issues have been going on for a long while now.

Coupled with the weird dual-nature of the Nintendo/Cygames relationship. Cygames love pushing their IPs hard, but they didn't really own Dragalia, Nintendo partially did iirc, so they couldn't really do much to promote it on their own.

Cygames is notorious for keeping its properties alive for long, looooooong past their prime, for example Rage of Bahamut, which came out in like 2014, was still getting content updates to this day, and only recently shuttered, and Granblue Fantasy is 8 years old.

I know I said this before but it's kinda disheartening to see so many games by smaller publishers lately getting thrashed for "not looking like a next-gen game."

The lack of any dedicated handheld consoles on the market really forced everyone to make a graphical jump, whether their games needed it or not. I don't have any problems with the industry striving for better-looking games but I wish the only exception to that weren't retro throwback games.

I'd love to say that if DL was exclusively Cygames owned it would've been better off but looking at the situation I'm not so sure. From my understanding World Flipper is similarly not doing very well after a huge misstep it made a couple years ago and it's a game that Cygames won't stop throwing collab after collab on it. Even with the best efforts there's no guarantee that Cygames on its own could've kept it going with the issues it was dealing with, and without the co-ownership it may've just stayed in Japan and failed to garner any international support.

To be honest, going off of what I've heard, seen, and what you've said about your friends the issues DL were dealing with may've ran too deep to be fixed. I hate saying it as a fan, but I think the cards it got dealt was just a bad hand and they tried to ride it as best as they could before they folded. Regardless of that, I don't regret the ride I had with the game, it's been a fun three years and I enjoyed my time playing it throughout.

Honestly, I can't really say the bolded part is an issue in regards to Cygames.

Like, Granblue is entirely translated in English, and it's still branching out to an international market despite the phone game staying in Japan(To not deal with potential gacha-focused laws outside of Japan). Heck, the game's current producer even came to NA Anime conventions to talk about the game..... before the end times.

There's postings claiming to be sharing leaks for the upcoming Mario movie.

I have my doubts but at the same time I don't want to read it to avoid spoilers.
