The reason for this is because of the affection mechanic, since it has to stop the game to remind you "Your Pokemon LOVES you!"
Not only is it corny, it makes the battles too slow and the battles too easy. This series would be better off without this mechanic.

I ****ing love lopunny. I either plan on having a party full of Buneary or Loppuny or having at least one in my party.

In every Pokemon game I've played if Buneary was in the game I tried to at least have it as soon as I could

The only time i remember the battles being slow was in DP honestly, every game around it was just fine.

From what I heard, Yuzu doesn't work with PLA.

I'm playing my totally legitimate game on Switch, My potato can't handle anything newer than SNES emulators anyway.

Apparently every wild Pokemon has a chance to spawn giant, not sure how high the chance is though. Haven't found Alpha Buneary yet either, but there's a fixed spot where giant Lopunny spawns fairly early in the game.

No, Pokémon is definitely one of the worst offenders across the whole series IMO, especially when compared to other games: Even retro JRPGs had more convenient and to the point information.

Like, compare Pokémon now to something like even the OG FF7: It's wild how much more streamlined things are when most of the information is visual rather than all text. Pokémon shows everything just about through text.

Yes, but, Pokemon does all that in the middle of fights rather than waiting until the end to tell you everything. Super effective moves, stat changes, and crits can all be done in a much faster way, and exp and new moves can all ne done when the battle's over.

Speaking of affection, I haven't seen anyone actually talk about how it works in Arceus anywhere so...

affection seems to be gone. At least I'm pretty far into the game and never got any of those affection effects and my Eevee already evolved via friendship, so it should've had happened at least once by now.

You better be, those things don't mess around and are really scary and high leveled, especially early game. Also Buneary itself is a common spawn fairly early (~lv 15), so it's easy to get a full team. Basically as soon as you reach the forest of the first area.

In other words, you can have a full bunny team before fighing the first real boss Pokemon, the Scyther evo. If you want a more concrete answer I can whip up a map.

I've been noticing a lot of Legends Arceus talk in here. I'm glad people are optimistic and excited for the game but honestly after feeling so underwhelmed by the D/P remakes I haven't cared about Legends. I'm sure it'll be good but for the longest time I've just lost interest in Pokemon. I do hope one of these days there'll be a game that will reinvigorate my love for the series since I've played and watched it for many years so I have plenty of good memories with Pokemon.

As Nocturne's the last JRPG I played, I'll use that as a comparison here. When you do an attack, the attack animation shows. If it lands a status ailment, the affect is shown on the demon hit during the animation. When you land a crit, you get a textbox saying CRITICAL during the animation. When you use a buff/debuff, text appears during the animation. That's probably why Pokemon feels so slow by comparison, I guess PVP makes it different and they want to make sure the players get enough time to comprehend what's happening but if the crit or effectiveness appeared during the animation, that'd speed things up significantly, a textbox to indicate status ailments would go a long way too
