I am in the crowd who never enjoyed GTA much and Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 are far more interesting games. I just found GTA a bit boring.

I will throw myself to the hounds on that one.

Not gonna disagree nor agree on this, but if you wanna know why many prefer GTA, GTA has more of a legacy after finding great footing on the PS2.

RockStar games in general tend to be really good, but Rockstar themselves are garbage.

Unfortunately we're probably going to be stuck on GTAV forever anyway. Rockstar has failed to really get started on development for VI and not just because Shark Cards are too profitable, while major contributors to the series ever since III are now gone from the company.

It’s time for

NOIPOI’S NOTABLE NINTENDO RELEASES (NNN) OF 2021

Aka, my top five favorite games this year.

Starting this list with a [BIG SHOT]

Deltarune chapter 2 baybee! Technically not a full game, but god damn this **** is good. It blows chapter 1 outta the water! It’s funny as hell, the gameplay is still fun, the music is immaculate, the characters are great (Berdly’s had me suffocating from laughter) but the story holy ****

I hope the implications of Neo Spamton/Snowgrave pay off, because it’s one of the most interesting ideas I’ve seen from a video game in a good long while. Can’t wait for the rest of the game.

I wasn’t alive in the 90s. I wasn’t even cognizant until around 2005. So I completely missed Pokemania. I’ve read articles and watched videos and whatever about how big it was and how it completely took over America and I understand that, but I guess you kinda just had to be there. And one of the stranger points of Pokemania IMO was the reverence these old heads had for Pokémon snap. It looked cute, but nothing much.

But now? Yeah. I get it.

New Pokémon Snap is a delight, one of those games you can chill with and just waste and afternoon on. I love seeing Pokémon just kinda living in their natural habitats, it’s the most alive the Pokémon world has felt in a while. I don’t got much else to say, it’s just good ****.

So technically this game came out in 2020, but the switch port was in 2021. Also it’s my list, so **** you : )

Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, is one of the best linear platformers i’ve played in a while. It’s just fun, man. The gameplay is solid, the level design is (mostly) great, it’s just a good time. And it’s hard as balls too. Also, I adore the artstyle. I know some people don’t, but I really do.

One issue though is that going for full completion is an absolute nightmare, and I really don’t recommend it unless you’re a masochist. I, somehow, managed to get every gem in every level up until the final world where I just had to quit. I’m sure if I kept at it I coulda done it, but I don’t have years to waste on just one level.

Aside from that? Good ****.

I’m not really a Metroid guy. I’ve tried out Super a few times, but could never really get into it. I just took people’s words that Metroid was like, one of the best Nintendo series ever.

Dread though? Nah, that **** is badass. It controls like a dream, especially once you get your full Arsenal. You’ll just be tearing through **** like it’s nothing. Exploring got a little confusing for me, but I’m a dumbass so Y’know. The bosses were tough as nails, but they never felt unfair. I knew I just had to learn the pattern if I wanted to succeed. Overall, a rad game and a great return for Metroid.

Okay

I don’t know why this game spoke to me like it did. I wasn’t even really into it at first, I thought it was just kinda boring. But somewhere along the way, I couldn’t tell you exactly when-

I fell in love.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is my favorite game I’ve played this year.

****in crazy, I know.

I dunno man, while some parts were frustrating like the tad tones or the ***** ass Imprisoned fights, they never soiled the good parts of the game for me. The dungeons are really fun, other bosses are interesting. And I really, really like the characters. Link and Zelda’s relationship is the cutest goddamn thing, Groose is the epitome of a Chad, Ghirahim is hilariously foppish. I even like some of the townspeople! And at the end of the game, when I’m rushing through hordes of baddies desperately trying to get to Zelda. When I’m facing off Demise in this weird ass cloud realm, when I finally slay him and the become the first hero in the ever expansive timeline…

I felt that **** bro.

This game had me up till 6 am every night when I was playing it. I was enraptured bro.

I’m not saying it’s this perfectly crafted wonderful game it whatever. But to me, it gave me my favorite gaming experience of 2021. And that’s why it’s at the top of the list.

Warioware GiT is good ****

BDSP is fun and really cute, but it didn’t really blow my mind. It’s just aight to me.

Im not sure I have a favorite game to look forward to in 2022.

I can't wait to get GOW 2018 on PC when that comes out, incase I don't get a PS5.
I'm not a big Zelda fan so BOTW2 isn't 100% convincing me yet, not tp. mention we haven't gotten enough footage of it yet.
Bayonetta 3 looks cool
HFW looks great, and I might try HZD on PC when I can.

I'm bound to give Into the Spider-Verse another rewatch before Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part 1). Especially to see if I get a different opinion on it, I feel the sequel might definitely be an example of one being better then the first movie alongside Sonic 2.

I'm in the same boat. Been looking forward to GOW Ragnarok for ages.

Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy Origin (yes I'm a bit excited for it), FFXVI, BOTW2, Kirby, Forspoken, (actually looks fine) Splatoon and that's the more or less of it.

Anything that would be "I'd book a day off work" level? Only GOW or FFXVI.

Basically, despite being the most successful movie ever, it isn't exactly being treated like a widely popular movie now. More of an "oh yeah that happened" thing than "actually Avatar sucks" thing.
