Direct thoughts

• FINALLY A 3D KIRBY! I can't wait to see more.
• Deltarune Ch2 on Switch is a massive W since that's the version I still own. I killed Jevil in my save file though, I wonder how that'll affect Ch2...
• That Castlevania collection seems like something I'll get later down the line
• That Mario 3D All Stars stunt is ****ing scummy as ****. I might get a subscription when Banjo comes out for a month and also use that opportunity to try Sin and Punishment though, but I can't support this **** for any longer than that.
• I kinda hate Chris Pratt so I'm not a huge fan of that casting choice, but the other casting choices range from neat to amazing. I can't wait for Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong
• Splatoon 3 looks like it's gonna place a bigger emphasis on single player. I like what I've played of the first two but I never really could get into them since they're so multiplayer focused, so I hope the single player campaign is good.
• Bayo 3 looks really neat. Guess one of my next marathons will be a Bayonetta one since I own both games, and I might use that opportunity to play other Platinum games I own like Astral Chain and Wonderful 101.

Pretty good stuff overall

Nin Direct thoughts time!:

• My hunch that the final Smasher was going to be revealed in a standalone presentation was dead on (but airs while I am at work... ). Funny it's the same day Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl releases too.
• Not 100% sure how I feel about Kirby and the Forgotten Land but it looks promising
• Nice to see N64 and (surprisingly) Sega Genesis come to Switch Online (good thing I didn't buy the Genesis collection that released the same day Smash Ultimate released in 2018)
• Sadly no new Dr. Mario game but Dr. Mario 64 is a more than acceptable substitute
• Gonna snag me an N64 controller
• Very good cast for the Mario movie. Nice to see Charles Martinet still has something. Now gimme a trailer.
• Splat Tim 3 looks great. Interesting new story mode and thankfully not Octo Valley 3.0
• About mother ****ing time Bayonetta 3 breaks free from its nearly 4 year silence! Looks amazing!
• No Pogeymanz content makes me sad.

Genesis MIGHT be understandable due to Nintendo owning none of the rights to its games. MIGHT.

I'm glad I didn't go into this Direct with much expectation, because it felt average. Didn't care much for most of the announcements aside from a few standouts:

• Bayonetta 3 finally got revealed and looks pretty cool.
• Though I probably won't purchase it, Metroid Dread continues to look cool.
• I might actually buy Splatoon 3 despite not playing Splatoon 2 anymore because the new story mode for Splatoon 3 looks very interesting.
• Charles Martinet not reprising his roles as Mario and Luigi for the upcoming Mario movie yet still said to have some cameos is intriguing. Well then, I'm just curious at this point to see if Chris Pratt is good at doing a Mario impression and likewise for the other actors/actresses playing their respective characters.
• So they are finally expanding the retro game lineup from the Nintendo Switch Online service to include N64 games huh. Sweet, hopefully we can start seeing Gamecube games being added to that retro lineup next year.
• Looks like the final Smash DLC Fighter reveal will have to wait for another week and a half. Luckily, seems like I will be able to watch the presentation live when it airs.
  • Not really expecting much for the final DLC fighter reveal either. In fact, I bet it will be a fighter I either don't want or care for, but if that final fighter turns out to be Professor Layton (or maybe Ragna or Noel from BlazBlue if that smallest of chances turns out to become reality), then I will be the happiest man ever for the remainder of the year!
• Kirby and the Forgotten Land was definitely the highlight of the Direct for me, even if I knew about it from the leak a few hours prior. A full-fledged 3D Kirby game with open world exploration-like mechanics is something I have been wanting for years, or at the very least 3D exploration in the manner like most 3D Mario games (which seems to be what this new Kirby game is going for). I had a feeling the 3D Kirby game was coming as the "next direction for the series" from the interviews the Kirby developers discussed following the release of Star Allies and how some Kirby minigames were exploring the 3D camera more, so it's great to finally see this game being confirmed. Definitely going to preorder it as soon as preorders begin!
  • Spring 2022 seems to be an ideal release time for me. While they may have just revealed this game today, something tells me this game took years to develop for the aforementioned reasons.

Got another two weeks my friends!

So thought I'd talk the highlights for me.

-WRECKFEST SWITCH PORT! Yes!

-Mario Cast is quite something. Jack Black as Bowser has some bloody meme potential.

-Knights of the Old Republic port I will get. Castlevania Advance and Actraiser when price drop. Voice of Cards auto get cause Yoko Taro.

-Chocobo GP? Probably gonna get.

-Kirby and the Forgotten Land is day 1 for me. The first time since Canvas Curse/Power Paintbrush.

-Ain't gonna lie but the Bayo 3 "Astral Chain fakeout" did make me a bit sad but I'm still happy for it.

-N64 Expansion will be the ****. Getting it for Mario Tennis and Sin and Punishment alone.

Also yeah, now that I think about it I'm not big on the idea of paying extra for N64 and Genesis games. I already cancelled my NSO subscription because it sucks ****, the idea of paying even more just to play the funny bear game isn't very enticing. Nintendo is scummy as **** these days when it comes to rereleasing games
