On one hand, you got a lot of people who hate Sonic's Dumb Friends.

On the other hand, Knuckles is the GOAT. When's the last time him and Tails were playable in a main 3D game?

That was Sega's main takeaway from 06, they heard that people didn't think the game felt anything like a Sonic the Hedgehog game, and I guess they somehow interpreted that as "nobody wants to play as Sonic's very popular, unique, and iconic friends anymore", so now we're stuck with only Sonic.

And then they tried it again with Forces with Shadow and the Avatar, but nobody liked that game and I bet they'll take it as "Well, nobody like playing as Sonic's friends" and back to square 1.

When will Sega learn that players want to players as characters they like and don’t want to play with characters they don’t like?

I suppose the answer is when Nintendo realizes that players want original and complex characters in Paper Mario.

I liked the idea of him from the backstory in the comics, but they really squandered him in the game proper due to the weaker writing and rushed development. Maybe the a better game or the comics could've done better by him, but I'm pretty sure SEGA banished him to the Shadow Realm so he's probably not coming back.

Such is life I guess. It's weird cause even Nintendo will miss opportunities to put someone like Peach or Yoshi in more games as fully playable characters. Namely the NSMB games could have been more interesting if they had Mario 2 playstyles instead of everyone being clones of Mario's default style.

Mega Man and CV are usually pretty good about having at least 1 other cool guy/cool chick to play as, though I was a little surprised Mega Man 11 didn't implement Protoman or Bass as DLC considering that game did pretty well for itself.

I keep saying this but it looks like Dread'd really gonna be a hit, I've seen so many people show interest in Metroid for the first time, there's the fact that the Wii U hasn't had such activity in years as people want to catch up on the storyline and most importantly, entitled DK fans are whining about how unfair it is that Metroid's getting so much attention. I think the series may legit crack into the mainstream

I’ve seen one dude on Twitter complain about Nintendo’s “apathy” towards DK, with one reason being a Treehouse person talking about Metroid for a lot longer than DK, but other DK fans I’ve seen have been either criticizing the dude or just disappointed in seeing another DK fan say that stuff.

I'm actually more excited for this than I am for Gunvolt 3, TBH. The first Luminous Avenger was really good and I honestly think Copen's gameplay is much more kinetic and satisfying than GV.
