With all due respect, you kinda take anything slightly negative towards first parties/forum picks and turn it into a big thing. No one in this thread is dumping on fan picks, nor is anyone in here obliged to say they’re the best option.

It just feels like people have been a bit too spoiled by the fact that Steve isn't a Smash Bubble pick and is far bigger than a lot of them. I want to spin this as a way to make someone on the Grinch Leak now qualify as someone suitable for Smash's "disappointing finales".

I don't think predictability would be that much a problem. The real is that the hardcore fans often have more niche tastes and fail to see the bigger picture - they game is dependant more on the silent majority then the vocal few.

A lot of us are also caught up in our fandoms and see characters as bigger deals then they really are. For instance, as important as Dixie Kong amd Bandana Dee are to their respective franchises, they're incredibly minor next to juggernaughts like Steve. Not to say they couldn't or shouldn't happen, but their importance can be a bit overstated.

Its always good for big games like Smash to include things for the hardcore fan, but a Triple A game like it couldn't exist without mass appeal.

This implies a newcomer roster solely based off fan demand would be alienating to the general audience despite the existence of who would already cater to the wider audience. The silent majority is already catered towards regardless.

Anyhow I'm the core fanbase as I'm a fan so if Sakurai doesn't add this dude the game deserves to flop as he's ignoring the fanbase

You say that, but Ultimate is the highest selling Smash games with the least amount of (non-Echo) newcomers and the biggest focus on the core fanbase, hence Everyone is Here being the main theme, which is something only a tiny minority of the general audience would care, unless you are telling me 3 Links would appeal to casuals.

And considering were the characters confirmed to be popular among the “silent majority” of the 1. 8 million people who voted in the ballot, Smash Ultimate catered to the biggest parts of this fanbase, so the bolded argument doesn’t work.

I’m fine with being playable, but do you really think if they weren’t newcomers, there would be a significant decrease in sales considering Ultimate already have so many iconic characters in the first place?
