Well yeah but that’s different. In both cases.

DLC just wasn’t a part of the smash series before Wii U/3DS because they chose not to. And Plant was a bonus for buying smash content.

I’m not saying Master Chief can’t happen or he can’t be a bonus character. But I don’t see why he’d be a bonus for content that isn’t Smash.

I’m not saying you’ed ONLY get him via Game Pass. I’m saying you’ed get him for FREE with game pass. As an incentive to buy it. You can buy him separate no problem. And like, what better incentive to buy game pass then to get the latest smash character at no cost to you.

Like there still is stuff I'm looking forward to like BOTW2 and Splatoon 3 but it's at the point where they would feel more like "ticking off the box" than actually being excited.

Think the only two games I'm super excited for left that haven't been shown much are God of War Ragnarok and FFXVI.

In near future it is Tales of Arise and The World Ends With You sequel is so close to coming out. Cannot believe the latter got announced still.



I'll be excited for the future of games when I can have a realistic chance of getting a PS5 and scalpers getting scalped live on international television a few more exclusives get announced.



Can't see that happening IMO. Still believe something like a goodbye stage like Melee Final Destination or someone like Balloon Fighter would be nice to round out the DLC after instead of that.

This is a bit of a false equivalency.


This is basically akin to saying "just because it's never happened before doesn't mean it can't happen.", which is really not how to structure an argument.


As for Plant, that's a better point yes, but Plant was akin to an "Early adopter's" bonus like you see in other games.

When the argument against your theory is just “it’s never happened before” then I think it’s qualified. Life is random and chaotic. It doesn’t follow patterns.

Plus the idea of this happening just makes me grin like the Cheshire Cat just imagining people’s reactions.

this is very interesting:

Xbox Game Pass may indeed be coming to Switch. If it does and gets announced at E3, then I wouldn’t be surprised.

My Smash reveal at E3 bet is Crash, but if this game pass thing is really and these companies are really working together, I could easily see it be Master Chief.

Giving us 3 Microsoft Reps back to back E3s, and getting the big 3 from them.

Will definitely buy Game Pass if this indeed happens.

But how confusing will playing it when you remember that Switch and Xbox have different placements for ABXY buttons, lol?

Sorry I just don’t think it would be a very fun celebration. Balloon Fighter would be cute, like Noi said, but I can’t say it would be going out with a bang by any measure. And I would like Smash to go out with a bang.

And I would like Smash to go out with a bang.

I’ve resigned myself to the fate that no smash game will go out on a bang. It hasn’t happened before, and it won’t start now. So the thought of a final character being something cute, instead of something that just bores me, is more appealing.

Truth be told, I personally am counting on E3 to be the last “really cool” character before FP11 is the protagonist for the currently unannounced Fire Emblem or something

Ultimate base game ended on Incineroar, FP1 ended in Byleth. Smash doesn’t do grand finales.

Of course, you didn’t say you expected one. You just said you’d like one, which is fine.

But I'm not going to pretend like it could happen either.

I mean. Certainly you don't plan for it. You don't act like it's a certainty or bet money on it. But it COULD happen. And being aware of that is... well... I find it's helpful. Just the basic knowledge that someday everything could just go right, even if it never will, gives me the strength to keep going. It's that 1 percent of hope that drives me.

Now it's certainly not like the small chance that this specific scenario about Smash is driving me or anything. I honestly don't really even know how likely what I'm describing it. I don't even necessarily want it to be true (I think we should get DoomSlayer before Master Chief anyway). Like I said before, I just keep thinking about the idea because you just know how pissy so many people would get and this pleases me like the chaos gremlin I am.
