Nikefest3 I was gonna do this summer after Dojo's toourney. But I think that one got put on hold since Hylian announced his.

I'm thinking about mid-september. Nov 5-7 is MLG and I kinda wanna hold it right before that.

San Japan (3 days con) is going on the whole weekend. Kyle, the tourney host, said he's having dubs on friday and singles on saturday. It'd be the perfect way to play people, as well as just enjoying the con while your there.

I know I haven't openly said anything about my tourney but I won't be holding it for some time. Mostly due to housing issues. There's nobody really here other than myself to house and although I wish I could, I can't house 30+ people. :\

But Nike whenever you're holding yours, lemme know. I'm sure I'll be back.

So I met this guy at my new job that used to play smash, he knows caveman and rob. After talking to him he said him and his friends would love to start playing brawl again and going to tournies(for the first time)

They were going to go to san japan but it was to pricey for them, which brings me to this..

Why are there people in this thread complaining about san japan being pricey when the same people paid more to go to whobo 2 and about the same to go to phase 10?

If you don't want to go just say that, or if you don't have the money then that's acceptable, but don't wine about the price, stfu.

Wait, let me comprehend this...

You're comparing WHOBO, one of the biggest NATIONAL events that takes place down here in Texas, to San Japan, a tiny, San Antonio only (mostly) event that costs nearly triple the amount of the regular SA events, and has less competition compared to events like JUJment Day and Nikefest?

If you're serious, let me know, so I can laugh harder.

Phase is out of the question as well. The last Phase felt like a regional event with all of the conglomerated skill in one spot. San Japan doesn't compare.

=====

That's great news about the new players. Our next event outside of San Japan is the Austin Tournament, and Steakfest 3.

Hopefully we can get some fests too.

Comprehend that WHOBO was anime con exactly like San japan just in a different city, only reason it was so "big" was because Xyro through the name "World" in front of hobo. Kyle could of called san japan final smash and made the entry fee $10 and bam he would have a pretty nice attendance.

A 1 day san japan pass is $30 plus singles is $5, they spent more than that going to Phase.

So it's ok to waste so much money as long as it's a national but you can't "waste" money for something IN YOUR OWN CITY that you have a BETTER chance of WINNING something?

It's ok to waste money going out of town to something they have no chance of winning but not downtown to something they have a MUCH better chance at?

Paying $35 to play locals doesn't seem as appealing as paying about the same or more to travel, hang out with different players, and playing against pros.

Especially when you have the same winners in your local scene it just turns other players away with such an expensive fee.

Instead you are paying $35 to hang out with friends, get practice, play in a tourny, (espy is pro btw) DEALERS ROOM, Rave(if you are into that) meet cool people(take pics and what not) meet voice actors, plus other little stuff. If you not into any of that then that's fine, but they need to stop using the "oh it's to much" as an excuse. I for one have way more fun at cons, then going out of town to see the same people.

See I wouldn't mind that either just pointing it out that some people may not be into the con stuff and just want to play in a regular tourney without the $30 fee. Just personal preferences, but I know what you are saying. I for one will be in SA this weekend but kinda broke after spending a lot of money on my move ;_;

Lol, I laugh at anyone who uses the excuse that 35$ for a tourney is what is keeping other players from playing. San Antonio is surely the city of Johns. I love it. Makes my abilities that much better. :D

I'm not gonna get into it unless I have to, but one thing I will say is this. Remember it's a Con. Whether it be San Japan or WHOBO, its a con. Ergo, its gonna cost cause they expect people to have fun at the con for a weekend. The tourneys are nothing more than a bonus check in the middle your payweek.

Look if you don't want to go then that's fine. That's just more of a chance for me to get a good placing. Plus I wasn't at Pik-a-Nik so I'm out of the loop.

Anyways I'll be hosting all Brawl tourneys there while KM is overseeing the game room.

Prime, I've been working on the buffering and I got it down 75% already. Now I just need to know the MUs and how to play them and I'll be ok with ChuChu. :)

@Justin: Doubles is on Friday, Singles on Saturday, Sunday is free play.

Take note everyone complaining, the 30$ is for the whole weekend. Means, you can leave and come back as much as you want as long as you keep your badge. But then again, SA can only John and make no progress in anything. I envy not being as good like Prime and Espy.

im not gunna read all this text, but idc what you think suspect. im not interested in all the anime and stuff, i just want to play brawl. im not gunna pay 35 for a brawl tournament with con randoms and people i play every week. WHOBO is a totally different thing, you get some of the best people in the region. If you call it a john, idgaf

Actually it's $45 for the weekend, but no one in SA likes double really so it would be best if they did just go 1 day which is $30.

Lol, you really are the new Niddo. Too TL;DR my post, don't come if you not gonna. But I'll take my prize money and a chance to play Pirme in a MM if he goes. :D

If I was trolling I was say that you lost to a Link using Fox.

I'm just saying that your using the 35$ as an excuse to not go and have fun all weekend.

WTF, that's pretty lame. Paw doesn't find an interest in con's. $35 for a tourney that has a small percent of ppl that he plays every week already and a couple con teens who don't even have controllers and persture him to borrow his the whole time.

Have fun laughing at almost all of our city.

I'm not gonna get into it unless I have to, but one thing I will say is this.
And I laughed pretty hard at this, considering you said more about this more than everybody here.

Sorry, Paw and Espy are right.

@Nike: I will continue to laugh at our city for the lack of interest. Like I said before if you don't want to go then don't. But I'm tired of players looking at this con tourney at full price. I'm sure you guys know this by now and all. It's ok though. Saving money is always important.

Lol @ Suspect & Greyfox trolling everyone.

It is clearly an interest issue, then opinion is key. If opinion is key, then every argument is either invalid or valid, so it's pointless to argue in the first place.

Fact: San Japan sucks. I know, I've been there.

Unless you're a die-hard con-fan, you're not going to spend the entry fee just for a Smash tourney. $45 or whatever is too much just for Smash, but if you're going to enjoy the con, then it could be worth it or a steal to you. Either way, this arguing is pointless & no one will win.

this guy gets it, i fall into that category of people who will not enjoy the rest of the CON.

also dont forget about parking 15-20$ so its really like 50 without even entering the tourny.

Also, for those people that apparently don't have a problem with the expenses, why don't you pay for those that are interested? If you want the San Antonio Smash community to not have any money-johns, then it surely wouldn't be a "lack of interest" issue.
