I mocked the claims about the wedding getting 2 billion viewers, stating they probably assume because 1 TV might be showing it in an office block, every single person would watch it.
I mocked how much of a waste of money it is, and the existance of the royal family continues to defy meaning.
I mocked women, thinking only they would care about it.

So why when I came home, did I remember it was on, change the channel to it, and am sitting here watching it?

They actually draw more money from tourists than they do waste so overall they're a profitable franchise.

They could generate the same income if they just disbanded and the everything was kept intact, just like other historic buildings.

The royal family being employed or even alive wouldnt make the slightest bit of difference to me if I wanted to visit buckingham palace, westminster abbey, see the crown jewels etc. I'm pretty sure the people I know who visited england as a tourist didn't see any of the royals, let alone care if they were doing anything.

People flock to watch the changing of the guards, paparazzi shots of the royals sell big time. You're not looking at the big picture here.

You're also acting as if being a royal is a privileged upbringing. It really isn't.

Well, I know I spent a good portion of my day in school watching it. (All girls school...people stayed home to watch. ITS INSANE!)
I really can't complain xD

Though we took notes in AP Art History because of it...elements of design, etc.
Still...didn't learn all day xD

The Royal Family cost us only £37 million a year. To put that into perspective, the 2012 Olympics is going to cost us about 8 billion.

Like Teran said, the royals generate a tidy profit with tourism, just look at the money this one wedding racked in. They also host an annual event for charity and dedicate their entire lives to Britain.

So in other words, the people that don't see the point in them are idiots seeing as though it's clear they're for tourism, or they don't realise how cheap the royals actually are to keep.

I mock you for mocking to much. First you need to understand something before you go around turning your nose up at it. Cuz then you are no better than most liberals who just go along with what everyone else says without doing any research (or little research).


As Teran said, a monarchy is just interesting. I still say that the true star of the wedding was the unhappy girl in the wedding picture! XD

All I can say is that the bride is a very beautiful woman and I'm glad that they're happy together. I think I would care more if the British monarchy actually held political power.

I only knew about it because I watch the Colbert Report. But yeah on the day of when I woke up my mom was watching it and I was like "...wut". I think it's dumb. Kate Middleton is sexy though.
