Alright, got it.
gm_final_destination_v20003.jpg

Now, keep in mind that this model, for some odd reason, had feet that wouldn't work properly, so they're stretched out so Ridley's a little taller than usual. Regardless, these are both models right next to one another standing straight up...does that look too big to you?

Well, the feet thing makes it a little difficult to tell, but if you factor that in and have Ridley's legs bent, I think you'd really only need to shrink him down a little to make it work.

Basically, that's FAR from impossible to resize.

A bit on the big side, but that's only because he's stretched out and it's nothing some proper posture can't fix.

Bowser certainly looks big compared to Mario, and he'd look even bigger if he stood straight, because he still has a hunching posture. So there's nothing wrong with Ridley's size.

Well here's something a bit more accurate then:
gm_final_destination_v20002.jpg

Two Samus' stacked on top of each other from where Ridley's feet would originally be placed when flat.

Mmmh, it's all about perspective. Instead of saying that Ridley is twice as tall as Samus, one should instead consider him twice as long.

Ah, that's a bit better. I think what I said before still holds true. Just have his legs bent and a bit hunched over (like in that modern size comparison), and he would only have to be shrunk a little bit to work.

After all, he's only twice as tall as Samus here. Bowser is typically three times as large as Mario, so the change there is even more drastic.

What i found really strange, is, if the most recent zelda game was Skyward sword, why they choose the TP designs...what i think is that the SS ones were too....soft? i dont know....and I dont know why they cant put diferent looks (like if you were able to choose between: SS Link, TP and Oot with their own color palete, or choose between Other M Samus, Prime and the one from Brawl....)

Ridley would be perfect because of his many forms.....so, if you dont like Roidley, you can choose the other ones.....

the only one that had something similar was Wario, letting you choose between his biker outfit and the classic one.
Due to that (only certain characters like Wario getting the different costume treatment), if we get Roidley which we most likely are, we'll probably see an Other M-ified Meta-Ridley and stuff at best as far as the palette swaps go, like how Brawl had the Fusion Suit's colors on the Varia Suit as a palette as opposed to getting the actual sleek Fusion Suit... Lazy.

As for most preferred designs, Super Metroid Ridley and Meta-Ridley in Prime 1. Not only are they my favorites, but feel they have stood the test of time the most.

But anyways, it's pretty clear that it's going to be Other M Ridley's that's playable this time around, and to be honest, he makes the most sense.

Not only because of the fact that a majority of Metroid merchandise in Smash 4 is Other M based, but to the fact that Other M Ridley overall gives the best possible options for a playable character. Compared to Super Metroid and Zero Mission, Other M Ridley's body is incredibly humanoid in design, and would be the easiest to design properly for playable character status. The less lanky proportions of his legs, arms and neck will also benefit a playable style better, and of course, this also goes to the fact that the Ridley clone in Other M is actually the smallest canon appearance Ridley has had, at a little over 12' tall, which is almost a quarter shorter than the average height he's shown at (Which has been anywhere from 13-19 feet tall).
I still remember when this was a very unpopular opinion before the first Sm4sh E3 reveal (saying how Other Ridley would be the best playable material compared to the classic lanky versions) and some would get flak for even arguing it. Now though, it's much more accepted because of what we'll most likely be getting... Funny how times change so quick.

I personally do not wish for Ridley to be in SSB. Now, before you bite my ass and call me stupid, this is my opinion. It's not because of the argument that he's too big or too silly when shrunk. It's because I never played much of the Metroid series. It wouldn't feel as special as other characters to me, you know? I mean, when Rosalina came out, I had recently done 100% on Mario Galaxy. I was so freaking happy when I saw the footage. I still am to this day. When Little Mac came out, I sorta shrugged and said, "Meh." That was because I had not played Punch-Out. I'm still fine with him, it just doesn't feel special. I believe I would have the same reaction when/if Ridley comes out, but you know, Sakurai can't please everyone with one character. That said, I hope you can respect my opinion. Also, I wonder if there's anyone else like me who has no arguments against Ridley but still doesn't really want him, but would be okay with him. I'm just rambling now. Whatever. But yeah, just expressing my opinion on Ridley.

Been doodling a bit, so to show my support for our favourite space-dragon.

Here's a sketch I made:
Ok, now I definitely want to see a trailer with Ridley and his underlings going up against Star Fox. It just seems to fit perfectly, as the Pyrosphere is too obvious for a reveal, and F-Zero might not lend itself to a cinematic trailer for Ridley (at least in my opinion).

Fantastic sketch by the way. Do you plan on coloring it?

It's true, especially thanks to a picture like this...

Mario is 5'1" tall, so if we were to take his size and put him next to Bowser, he'd barely come up, or not even each, his kneecap. Add another Mario and a half onto it and he's as tall as Bowser...in this hunched position. Considering Bowser's almost half as short here thanks to the fact he's almost completely hunched over, taking that and bringing him up to standing height would be nearly 4 Marios...which is 19-20" tall...that's as tall as Ridley's tallest appearance in Metroid Zero Mission.

To be honest, if they made Ridley's reveal a fake F-Zero trailer, I'd be pissed, because the new F-Zero wouldn't be a real thing.

Well, nothing wrong with that. As long as you're not trying to say Ridley is impossible as a character and that all who support him are mentally challenged, it's fine to not particularly care for him. It's only when people take it that one step further that it really gets on the supporters nerves.

Not really planning on colouring it, I don't have the right software for that kind of stuff, and I mostly just do sketches in my free time. You guys can feel free to colour it if you want to.

Considering Ridley's walking posture, he wouldn't tower over everybody like some people think.

I can see Ridley walking like this in Smash.
.n_n.
Moving on all fours, and keeping his body parallell with the ground does a lot for his size.

I think that would be saved for his dash, and his normal walking would be just walking bipedal-esque on his hind legs like that of classic Smash Bowser.

And this is basically taking it and putting it at a playable perspective.

We're not monsters, of course that you have the right to not care about Ridley.
We only get angry when people talk to us like we're idiots and fake Metroid fans because we want Ridley to be resized a little so we would be able to play as our favorite Metroid character in smash 4.

Too big, yes... why does Samus's height stop at Ridley's crotch? And people say Bowser is too big but at least Mario's height doesn't stop at Bowser's crotch.

Actually it's above his crotch without the messed up feet but regardless, you're correct, Mario's height doesn't stop at Bowser's crotch...

It stops at his kneecap...possibly even before it. :p

That's how tall he is in Other M? Holy cow, he's only as big as Ganondorf in the Legend of Zelda canon! I know Ridley is resized from left to right in the Metroid series but, damn...

Well, there goes yet another blow to the Too Bigots' logic. That image should be used on the main page for this topic. If only Oasis_S was here right now...

Well the thing is that Other M's head is smaller overall than Normal Ridley, which makes the body seem larger and gives a better feeling of being larger. However...
gm_final_destination_v20004.jpg

Other M Ridley's head is still large enough so that he could almost fit all of Samus' upper body in his mouth, just like shown whenever you run up to Ridley and deliver a charge shot to the mouth. Hell, just look at him sprawled out on the floor:

The only reason he's even able to pick up Samus at that size is thanks to his Donkey Kong sized hands. :p

Ridley totally should be playable. He can be shrunk down to a decent size. He's never been too big in a game that it wouldn't make sense that he could be playable in Smash 4/5.

Thats part of why ive always seen ridley as the xenomorph to samus' ripley.
The way he evolved in Other M (with the previous forms becoming a husk after new form emerges out of them) was very Alien/Xenomorph esque too.

Of course they would be the only ones....one is a Space dragon and the other is the Mother of the cosmos.
See, this is part of why Rosalina became mah waifu, and you only make me feel more justified about it with this pic...

Awesome pic too Crocovile. Always great seeing sketches like those.

lol @ Samus' face. Is she jealous or in disgust?
Both.

:3 I know, i think Rosalina is so sweet and motherly, that she could make a ferocious beast like Ridley to act docile around her.

Question: How much disappointed would you be if Ridley isn't in the game? Would you consider not buying/boycotting it?

I would buy the game regardless, as it's shaping up to be an amazing one. I do not only play Smash for the characters, I play for the sheer fun of it.
