Important The Ridley for SSB4 Thread - End of an Era

As long as Ridley has a more traditional hooked beak and isn't roided out, I wouldn't mind the concept art of Other M Ridley being what they use. It taking place in a lab is a great idea. Perhaps Pikachu walking around looking for something? Clone Ridley notices him and since he seemed to retain the original Ridleys memories in Other M, could recall back to when Pikachu thundered him in the face in SSE. He breaks free and lunges at Pikachu. Pikachu flees into a nearby room where he makes an excited gasp. Ridley busts through the door as you see Pikachu zap a computer console beside a pod. Ridley lunges at Pikachu but crashed and stirs up a lot of dust/smoke. When it clears Ridley is again holding his head and shaking it like after the thunder struck him in SSE. Camera pans up to reveal the pod contained Mewtwo, and he's none too happy with Ridley coming after his/her friend Pikachu.

It'd be a trailer for both mine and my cousins most wanted characters. Would make me all sorts of hyped.

I'd like to see Samus and someone duking it out on Pyrosphere, then suddenly! Dark Pit appears with a letter in his hand...And no splashtext...Then we flies to the shadows and gives 'a mysterious foe' the letter, Samus knows whats up and starts shooting everything in that direction with a flash of purple jumping away.Samus looks around(first person view) and then we see nothing but pyrosphere. And yellow/green glowey eyes. Ridley appears! Splash text 'Ridley makes his big entrance!' and then gameplay of Ridley and Dark Pit, the next PoTD talks about Ridley's design and Dark Pit being an alt

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if all this teasing lead to Ridley being a boss. Sakurai has shown time and time again that he doesn't know what fans (especially western fans) want. Not giving up all hope, but with that new scan things definitely aren't looking good.

The Famitsu scan showed us absolutely. Nothing. NEW. Stop worrying yourselves about it guys! They're just as much in the dark as we are, and the fact that they weren't allowed to say his name directly despite how obvious it seems only makes it even more suspicious on Nintendo's part.

One character after decades doesn't prove much. He put in 3 characters that were from Japan only games. You would think he would put more focus into it SSB's largest fanbase. Also, in an interview after Brawl, Sakurai didn't even know people really wanted Ridley. Sakurai added tripping to purposely discourage a portion of his fanbase.

First off, if there is a hazard on the pyrosphere, it's definitely Ridley, not some other Other M enemy. that sounds like major straw grasping to me.

Second, I doubt Ridley will be both a boss and playable. If he's a hazard, that's it. More than that feels like straw grasping again.

Thirdly, I feel like if he isn't shown off before the 3DS release, he's gonna be the hazard. I have no facts for these, but it's what my brain is putting together from all the evidence thus far.

But it really doesn't change anything, still have to wait the 3 weeks... I really hope there's a newcomer next week. Also that the newcomer is Ridley.

Yeah you're probably right about that, but the fact that the stage is called pyrosphere and not Geothermal power plant does make the stage seem more broader and less specific to the area where ridley apperars in other m. It was just an idea I had though.

Because I think the same. I know that Ridley is before release I just don't know when and they keep pushing the suspense (Ghirahim deconfirmed and best audio update ever all those the last 2 potd).

Frankly, I've always wanted Ridley more than I've expected him, and if he's revealed as a boss I wouldn't be that pissed, but I don't think this makes him any less likely than he was before.

As I said in my essay, he should've revealed that before the direct clip.

Maybe even before August 20, but before the direct would've been still acceptable in a way. The direct broke the consistency of even deconfirming him at this poiint while this consistency still exists on other cases (Ghirahim was just...ouch).

So, not even before E3, but a while ago.

Thanks! I decided to start supporting ridley as soon as I heard the possibilities of him becoming a newcomer in smash4 and now I really hope he does join the roster! Oh and what "water"?

I don't know if this has been considered but watching that Ridley clip from the Direct I noticed something.

I personally think the way he moved in the trailer is more of a clue than how he looks. If you watch the clip you'll see that he flies on, stops, repeats a hovering animation and instantly moves on at the same speed. This seems like very strange movements for a Stage Hazard. In fact if you compare it to the other stage bosses in the other games (Including Master Hand, Crazy Hand, Tabuu and all the Subspace Bosses, plus things like Yellow Devil, Find Mii and Mushroom Kingdom U), the only case I can find of this kind of behaviour is from character that are based on actual playable characters in the games (Namely the Shadow Characters from Subspace, and Giga Bowser).

All other bosses tend to have "zones" on the stage that they swap in and out of (Mainly on either end of the stage, save for characters like Tabuu). When they consider it time to move between zones they either attack or very swiftly zip to the other end of the stage. IMO the movements that the Ridley shadow casts is much more consistent with the movement of a player.

Of course it's also possible that Ridley is both a stage hazard and playable, if that is the case I personally believe that if somebody picks Ridley on Pyrosphere the stage hazard role will go to Meta Ridley.

People focus so much on the movement of the Ridley in the direct...

The fact of the matter is it was choreographed. They took Pikachu and their model of Ripley and put on a brief show just to hype you up about his appearance on Pyrosphere. You can logically deduce that he won't move the way he did in that short clip. Hell that's the reason we haven't seen Pyrosphere in action yet, they were probably still in the process of touching up his mechanics, or rather his entire existence. Maybe at the time of the direct all they had was his model.
