I do enjoy how everyone assumes that it'll be Roidley if he's in. What exactly is the reason to think this. The game is all about fan service, if the fans want Super Metroid's Ridley, what's to say that wouldn't go for that instead? They may have made some alterations, but surely if Roidley isn't want the fans were asking for they wouldn't go for that.

Surprise surprise. Venus is absolutely right though, Famitsu gets some exclusive information to share, but no way Sakurai would go all "Oh yeah, btw, Ridley is a stage hazard, but please don't say it, just tease it!" Well, it was mainly due to Sammy and Zammy (and with Pyrosphere being the Metroid rep) taking the design from Other M, I'd assume we'd get Other M Ridley (but mostly a hybrid in my eyes). Although, Sakurai CAN pull a curveball like you said and could surprise us.

I think that Sakurai is going to go with concept Ridley, or at least take some stuff from it. All the newcomers are looking pretty good, and if the roster leak is real Shulk shows that Sakurai will stray away from the source material just to make something look good.

Well, first I was a detractor because I thought he wouldn't fit and the boss thing, then I saw he could've been shrunk and the boss didn't have to be the original Ridley, but didn't really want him, so I was then neutral, them I saw how important Ridley is to the series and now I think he should be playable.

That's a bit silly as that's subjective at this point. Even then that'd mean 9.5/10 of all character support threads should cease to exist, for example just because Isaac is more likely to be an AT doesn't mean people shouldn't discuss the possibility of him being a playable character.

Custom movesets are not allowed in online play, correct?

If so, then I think one could be a flying mechanic similar to Pit's in Brawl if that "Floating" ability seen in the direct was a flight mechanic for his Up+B.

Edit: Also, how many custom moves each characters have? Was it four for each special? I can't remember.

Hmm.
For his neutral, he could have some sort of plasma breath attack with a mandatory charge up delay. The direction can be altered while charging it, allowing Ridley to attack at angles and thus making his projectiles effective whether in the air or on the ground, and making it difficult for opponents to approach him from either. The standard could be a barrage of fast but weak plasma balls distributed in a cone-like spread. The second version could be the explosive fireball, that is bigger, more powerful and somewhat slower, but creates a shockwave on the ground. The third could be Meta Ridley's laser breath, firing a weak laser in a straight line, continuously damaging anyone caught in it.

Yeah, I thought of that too, just was considering if it was his Up+B, it could be switched for balance sake. But then again, custom moves aren't for normal play anyway, so I guess he could have both.

Yeah, but since Ridley is a more air-based fighter, it'd be nice for him to hit targets on the ground with it. Or alternatively deny approach from either medium. Of course, he'd still have a significant blind spot, and the projectiles are weak to balance it out. It's more meant for harassment and spam than anything else. At least, the first and the third one are. The second one is kind of a nuke/anti ground, messing with the movement of ground-based characters.

Dunno, Falco and Ness maybe (if it isn't gonna be a villains trailer). Ridley flying around Space, getting intercepted by an Arwing with Falco inside (Arwing becoming Falco's new Final Smash), fight comes down to a planet, the Arwing gets hit, falco ejects and the Arwing crashes into a house, from the house comes Ness and we get a 3 way fight. Rooooll Credits!

Actually what makes Most sense currently for me is ridley other M (the cloned one!!) will be a stage boss.

The real ridley however will be playable. That makes imo sense when considering sakurais crazy mind. In other words i dont think he likes clones which just appeared in one Game ..
