Is it sad that I never played a Metroid Game before?
I saw Prime Trilogy in my game store for 10 Bucks, but I had no money and when I came back with cash it was sold. :\

Don't start with the best, but don't start with the worst.

Start with Prime Hunters. That's where I started. It's generally cheap (less than 10 bucks).

After that go to the rest of the Primes or Fusion/Other M. Fusion will make you hate Other M less, Other M will make you enjoy Fusion more (from a story standpoint).

Also, very tiny disclaimer, I played Other M at my friends house once for like 15 Minutes, and all I did was roll around in a Morph Ball because I didn't know where to go and my friend wasn't helping me.

This is stupid in so many other ways than that. Let's count them:

1. Sakamoto didn't ask for any MGS character. He's the director of the Metroid games. They must have been talking about Kojima.
2. The "isolation" point has everything to do with anything. Yeah, same with how fighting and platforming is a staple of the Animal Crossing series -- oh, wait a second
3. "Lone hero" doesn't invalidate villains. While I can agree that the hunters don't have enough influence in other games, ruling out ALL possible characters including Ridley because of that is stupid.
4. I don't think they understand what "3rd party" means.
5. Pokemon, Mario, Zelda and Fire Emblem won't be getting ANY more characters? Jigglypuff, Mewtwo and Ganondorf deconfirmed
6. It's also simultaneously safe to say that Zelda WILL be getting a new character. They just contradicted themself
7. "Educated estimates," "pattern analysis," "in my personal opinion." One of these just doesn't belong...
8. Which patterns say that themes from the main game like "isolation" factor into selection of a character? Since when has a pattern stated that things like a character being a "lone hero" meant anything?

I think I might have missed something. But goddamn, this means nothing and why is it here. Let's talk about Ridley some more

Well um, let me just go into debunk mode:

-MGS Char: Fair enough. I believe this. Sakurai said at one point no more than one Third Party Rep per company.

-Metroid Char: Isolation is the staple, fair enough, but not from characters. Out of all of the Metroid games, Samus has teamed up/rivaled with: Ridley, Adam, Anthony, Sylux, Kanden, Weavel, Trace, Noxus, Spire. Those are the characters that have a remotely possible chance (based on being humanoid-ish-ness, not relevancy).

-3rd Party: Well you can expect third parties in almost any smash game now. So this is false off the bat.

-Any PC Game: Well um Mario is Missing was on the PC, so the part about them never making any Pc games is debunked. But most PC game characters won't make an appearance.

Now for the part that made me cringe the most:
-Pokemon: Needs to represent the new games.
-Mario: If Pokemon gets reps, Mario gets reps.
-Zelda: So much potential and space.
-Fire Emblem: Well that's just a given.

DK: Likely, I'll give you that.
StarFox: Eh, maybe. Krystal is sort of likely, but shes been in so few games.
Zelda: Did you just list this twice...

I think the reason a lot of people don't think Ridley can make it is, as many have mentioned, his size. Sure, he could be made to work in game, but in the recent games... He's big. Really big. Especially if we're looking at the Prime Series...

Ridley has no canonical size. His proportions vastly change in every game that he appears in. Funny how you mention Prime, since in Prime his body is barely more then twice the size of Samus, similar to his Super Metroid and Other M (boss battle) proportions (however, meta-Ridley wings are huge, but that was resized in Brawl). Ridley gets similar treatment to Bowser and K. Rool, whom proportions also vastly change but no one brings up their sizes.

As long as Ridley is consistently larger then Samus then I think it should be fine. Many of the muck-up models that people have posted in this thread I feel work well.

Speaking of which, I think one of the things I'm looking forward to most in Prime 4 is more scans from Science Team.

Now, I'm not a Metroid fan, by any means. Regardless, there is still an obvious hole in this sort of logic.

So the Metroid series is supposed to be about isolation, with Samus being left on her own to fend for herself when she's surrounded by monstrous aliens. That's fine and all, but how does that have anything to do with Ridley being in Smash? He's an antagonist, a monster, something Samus has to constantly do battle with time and time again. He's not some friend that's helping her throughout her journey, he's someone that's trying to kill her on a regular basis. And Samus is constantly surrounded by things that are trying to kill her on a regular basis. Saying that Ridley, or any other Metroid representative, can't be in Smash because Metroid is about isolation is taking the idea of "isolation" too literally. Metroid isn't a series about being completely alone without any other forms of life, it's about being alone in an dangerous environment and having to fight off terrifying monsters without any help whatsoever. Having an enemy like Ridley present on the roster doesn't contradict that idea of isolation; if anything, it completes it by giving Samus a proper enemy to fight. The only way the idea of isolation would be "ruined" is if they added a sidekick Metroid character to Smash. However, due to Metroid being about isolation, such a character does not really exist. The issue resolves itself, frankly.

yeah it's finished, and i did it like back when i was in 6th grade, but i kind of stopped drawing since then, and idk after seeing how amazing andrea draws, she makes me wanna start drawing again, and yeah i know i should add shading but yeah this was back when i was in 6th grade and that was like 6 years ago
