It's annoying for me to read people saying Ghirahim is a shoe in over options such as a new/reworked Ganon, Pig Ganon, Impa, Fi or Vaati.

Well i wouldn't say Ghirahim is a shoe in but he have more chance than Fi and Impa (Impa have more chance as DLC, cause Sakurai had no info on the Hyrule Warrior characters, until they were shown, so... if he had planned Impa to be in Smash, she would be the SS Impa, and she wasn't really popular until she was shown as a playable character for HW, but if you go to DLC... well Sakurai have time to plan and create Impa as a cool new and unique character), also... Vaati... well... i have not much to say about Vaati, the same with Pig Ganon (i don't think we will get Pganon but meeehhh), and a reworked Ganondorf...... YES PLEASE (i would be ok if they give us a reworked ganon and also add Black shadow with Ganondorf's brawl moves)

I know it's a little late but I finaly finished planning that metroid fanfic. I'm treating it as my next full story so I had to go through my usual long amount of setting up and planning. I'm planning on starting actually writing it tommorow.

Arguably, adding Ridley and Dark Samus would make for the perfect Metroid segment in Smash Bros.

With DS disconfirmed, the most we can hope for is three. No-one else in the Metroid series really has enough to get into Smash. Hell, even Dark Samus is a bit of a stretch.

I wouldn't worry too much about the bosses mode, If Sakurai wanted to add it, we would have known about it on the e3 or direct and it would be fun, I mean look at yellow devil, he only has 2 moves, I don't see how can they make Yellow Devil a playable boss with 2 moves or a bowser sized Ridley that is slow as ****

My only problem with the reasoning that "we haven't seen it yet" is that the Wii U version is further away. After Rayman and this last character reveal we really don't know all that we think we know. After the 3DS launches we will still get pics of the day I'm sure and there will need to be some announcements made for the Wii U later on. Yellow Devil doesn't have to be playable but Ridley moving slow like that is what has me worried considering how it was presented in the direct. It really did look like someone was casually controlling him. After that direct I always held the stance that yes Ridley will be boss but that won't be his only role. My hope however is that the boss term Sakurai used along with what looked to be an actual controllable Ridley was all just a set up for an honest to goodness full on character reveal.

I'm just lining up all the possible scenarios.

Fun fact, the most successful Fire Emblem ever made sold the same as Metroid Other M. Donkey Kong Country Returns sold about the same as 3 FE:Awakenings.
Now, Im not hating on FE for getting four characters because Robin is really cool and Lucina doesnt take away a "slot", but throw us some scraps please, they are not some obscure franchises.

It grates at me how people outside this thread generally tend to not see Ridley as likely, but at the same time it makes me happy.

I just feel like the more people don't think he's happening, the better his chances in August are.

DK completely deserves it's 3rd and 4th playable character. And Metroid certainly deserves it's 3rd.

I wouldn't add 2 character for Donkey Kong (at least not with the release of Smash4) but that's mainly cause i feel that they will have the same fate as FE, one original character and one clone, and it wouldn't be the same to have a Dixie as a clone or a KK Rool as a clone than have Lucina as a clone

It'd be rather confusing to have a playable-sized Ridley suddenly gaining bosslike characteristics. Toon Link at least has the good sense to put on a different costume and hang out in the background, but Bossley would be interacting directly with the fighters.

It'd be inconvenient to forget that one of your opponents ISN'T Ridley and as a result treat Bossley like a fighter half the time.

Yeah, but even if Sal was right most of the times, he got 1 character wrong, that means, that even if what he says is most likely true to a point, doesn't mean that we can keep having the Sal leak as a rule, also having in mind that he never mentioned Rosalina, that gives people "hope" in getting more characters (most people -including me- see Shulk and a RH character as newcomers)

When Ridley is played on the Pyrosphere there is no boss on the stage.
When Ridley isn't played on the Pyrosphere there is no boss on the stage.

See, I highly, highly doubt a playable boss mode. Sounds more than a little bs to me. The characters are playable or they aren't. I'm just scared that Ridley isn't. We've yet to see another true boss besides Yellow Devil and Sakurai did say there were more. Then again, we haven't seen a Kirby, Starfox, or DK stage yet. Or Yoshi or F-Zero. Hell, we haven't officially been shown Kalos league yet.

No, I'm worried about Ridley being relegated to YD status. If he isn't in YD's shoes, he's playable, that's that.

I do agree we could still easily see shulk/rhythm heaven rep.

One thing I would like to point out is that Sakurai actually has described the bosses as more of stage hazards, and at this point I would classify Yellow Devil as more of a stage hazard than a boss similar to the Dark Lord from the Find Mii stage. He refers to them as bosses because that's what they were classified in their original games I guess. I'm sure there are more stages with different sage hazards that provide different mechanics and gameplay. That's just my thought because describing something as a Boss should be part of gameplay that progresses similar to classic mode and its Master Hand or the subspace emissary from SSBB and its numerous bosses to progress through the story.

Gematsu isn't dead no, but the fact that we got characters not on the leak and that the 48 character theory was killed with Lucina's inclusion is what makes me more hopeful. I'm still counting on Shulk being in, and a RH rep is also likely despite Sal's tipper not seeming as confident in it as Shulk. Personally I'm expecting Ridley to get in alongside those two, I'm not expecting him to replace either of them.

I rejoice at the leak's death because of the destruction of the misconception that "some leaked characters=finalized roster, no exceptions". Just ask the Warios here: One was dead-set on Ridley's deconfirmation just because he thought Gematsu was all we were getting.

I don't HATE Shulk and Rhythm Heaven fans. I hate those whining that Sakurai was getting predictable and moaning about how their favorite character wasn't getting in because they weren't Gematsu-approved, to the point of setting up whole DLC rosters of interesting, unique characters despite not knowing the final roster.

@ RomanceDawn Pretty sure that if Ridley were to be a boss then he would be a bit bigger, also if sakurai wanted to hype playable bosses, he would use more than 1 boss, he basically relied on Ridley and all the atention of bosses was taken by him

I'm not sure what numbers you're using. But I have a feeling it's VGChartz. Fire Emblem: Awakening never reached 1m sales (official number has not been disclosed). VGChartz is not a reliable source.

Donkey Kong Country Returns sold well over 6 times FE:A, and the 3DS port of it outsold FE:A too.
