hmmm you got a point. my only guess is that the sal leak is was made a while ago and then got sent to gematsu in 2013.

He never has been. No character has ever been this obvious. A few people guessed the E3 characters, but there was still nothing in advance hinting towards one character or another and Pac-Man's reveal at the Smash Roundtable was completely out of the blue.

It sounds like to me that he only said that to make himself seem relatable to Ridley supporters, without exposing himself as someone who that really doesn't give a damn about the character.

I've seen that happen many times within this fanbase, and it's a strategy they use to backpedal on their comments when things get too rough.

Brawl's leaks were back 4 months before the game came out PERIOD, and Melee's came out a few weeks before it came out PERIOD.

No, I've seen CJ state several times that he wanted Ridley to be playable, he just didn't think it'd happen.

He was merely told those 6 newcomers and posted it as a joke prediction because Sal didn't believe it's true.

Except his description of it described the old build which Sakurai went over in the Developer Q&A a while ago where he said he initially had a "Pokémon from X/Y" written down as a choice, similar to what he did with Fire Emblem in Brawl ("a new Fire Emblem character" that became Ike).

Hmm, okay, but I still have my doubts on what he really thinks.

From what I've heard, Sal is a very respectable guy who's been around in the community for quite some time, who's running a notable video game site and has already leaked one video game roster in the past.

If he somehow leaked Ridley one day and people started rejecting him, then honestly, that would push my berserk button. Not because he leaked freaking Ridley, but because this is the guy who's in it just as much as the fans are and does not want to mislead them at any point. I dislike the guy for ruining speculation on this game, but I don't think it's entirely his fault.

I'll say this: if he leaked Geno, I would start seriously considering his chances.

So just Fire Emblem characters confirmed, and no Shulk. So that leak is starting to look doubtful, and in more favor for Ridley.

I'm fine with what just happened, and so much for Shulk (not that I don't want him, just for today's reveal) This proves we have more to come for newcomers too, this is just fantastic! Man all these crashes...

That was amazing. We got a veteran I wanted( :D), and 3 FE characters. Also, Chroms reveal, heh. No Ridley this time, but he will be next for sure!

Man so much site crashing. This is quite the surprise, most people would have guess Lucina, Chrom, or Robin separately. But no, Sakurai gives us ALL of them. This roster might be bigger than we thought it would.

Smash Dojo doesn't have Chrom as newcomer. So Gemastu is officially dead. Still hoping for Ridley sometimes in the next two months. The trailer was mindblowing. Well done Sakurai.

Not only did they debunk Sal's latest leak, they debunk the remaining Gematsu newcomers PERIOD! Plus they picked the BEST newcomer rep for Smash Bros. Sakurai, I forgive you, I seriously forgive you, THANK YOU!

Ya it isn't showing Chrom as a newcomer, and on a miiverse post he said to watch the video again because he was for a final smash. So only 2 Fire Emblem characters and Captain Falcon then, huh. I wonder what will be next.
