Ok, we need to start figuring stuff out for this tournament. I'm thinking it should probably be on the 11th because the 4th is a bit soon. Who would be able to attend a tourney on the 11th? Let's figure out who can go and where it will be. Then we'll work from there.

Do you know whether or not we'll be able to have it in Madison? I'll figure something out with balladechina to see if we can do something up here, but it seems like you guys have a better venue to do this.

smash_pro, do you think you'll be able to make a tournament in either Madison or Charleston? And maybe bring a couple of friends if they want. I'd like to see a decent turnout (we can probably get at least 15 people, I think).

Edit: I just backtracked a lil and saw the post about the tourny on the 18th. Ill prob be there but im not completly sure because that is my move in day.

Yeah, we'll definitely let you know what's going on. The tournament isn't exactly near Morgantown, but I think we can get a pretty decent-sized group coming, so it would definitely be worth it.

Hopefully we can have a tournament in Morgantown in the future, because that way we can probably get the people from Pittsburgh to come.

Anyway, hey guys. I just wanted to let you all know, that I'm back at home again.

I live in the Charleston area (Kanawha City, technically).


I won't be going back to college again for a few months or so.

And since I'm back at home where I have no friends who live near me or anything (nothing at all like back where I was going to college), I have no one to play SSBM with. I've been WANTING to play some good matches for quite a while now!!


Anyway, I have both a Gamecube and a Wii (a copy of SSBM and 2 controllers). So if anyone wants to play Smash with me at some place near me, or wants me to join their group of friends at some place - send me a PM. I'd love to get into some Melee action!!!! ^_^

Ok everyone, I'm really feeling the possibility of a tournament on the 25th. We've finally made some headway on renting out the venue that we'd like to use, so we'll keep everyone posted on that.

Everyone, let us know if you'll be in town and think you'd be able to make a tournament on the 25th in Madison.

And that's why I really wish I was back in Pittsburgh, PA again (that's where I was going to college).

But dang it, the last two quarters I was there, my GPA and attendence dropped below the level where they were supposed to be at. And they had to terminate me from the college.... ;_;


Anyway, in my opinion, there's only one way we can fix the LAME Smash scene in WV. And the answer is: a huge, and amazing, SSBM Tournament!!!!!

We desperately need one, guys. O_O


But even if a Major Tournament (like all the big cities have) couldn't be done in WV... then at the very least, we could have a bunch of regular sized, local tournaments held in WV every month (or even better, they could be every other week, or something!!).

Reporting some more news. I think balla finally got in contact with Chris (the guy who supposedly had the venue's #), but he only had the number to the place next to it. So basically, we just need to call them a couple times (until they finally pick up) and then we'll know the # to the venue we want. Once we get that squared away, we'll be able to finally make arrangements for renting it out. 25th is a possibility, but it might have to wait a week or two.

Anyway, I'm with Lisa in the idea that we need some type of monthly tournament. I think maybe once we get this venue #, we'll be able to do something of the sort if it works out well. We might even be able to throw a large tourney (hopefully pull some out-of-staters) in the future.

A friend of mine actually won at Tsubasacon last year. I'm willing to bet he'll be there. I might have something already planned for that week (yeah, weird, I know), but if I don't I'll be there.

Jacob and I were runner-up at TsubasaCon last year. I really want to see you and my friend Chris face off at GH. He is the only person in our area who has beat Jordan on Expert.

The Halo part of TsbasaCon sucked last year. There was literally no one outside of Madison in the semi-finals last year.

And I went to 04 and 05 back when the con was still in Charleston (couldn't make it last year, cause I was going to college in Pittsburgh).



Anyway, I'd love to participate in the Smash tournament!

There aren't as many people here as there are in the area of Pittsburgh, so maybe that means I'll stand a better chance of getting higher up in the rankings. XD

Good job repping TC at Tsubasacon. Me, J122, Byped, and YimmyZ (1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th respectively) all placed in the top 5 (and the ones from our crew who didn't place top 5 didn't even attend. XD)

This is mainly a bump so hopefully the guy that placed 4th will read this thread. I'd like him to attend another tournament sometime. Anyway, good showing TC.

I didn't even know the guy who I played against, lol. It was some guy who played as Yoshi and pretty much kicked my ***. I wasn't expecting the match to be that difficult challenge, since I normally don't go up against GOOD Yoshi players. So yeah, that was a great match for me (even though it knocked me out of the tourney).

Well anyway, I tried, and for a while it seemed like we were evenly matched, but he got the upperhand and I somehow let my guard down. So I think that led to my demise.



Hmm....

There's like nobody where I live who plays Smash, so sadly, I have no one to practice against. And those CPU opponents aren't worth fighting against, because I can easily K.O. all 3 of them (on Level 9, using any combination of characters for the CPU).

Someone needs to start an SSBM Club around here, like in Charleston or Kanawha City (even better for me since that's where I live, lol) . That'd be awesome!! ^_^


We need to attract more smashers. I know they're out there, we just have to find them, get their attention - and actually play against them.

Thanks to all who showed up to Tsubasacon. The tournament went pretty well, despite the fact that we didn't have time to do doubles. There were just too many people.

We still run a SSBM club after school on Wednesdays, usually at GWHS.

I'm pretty sure the Madison kids do something every Friday night.

On a bigger note, there is a rather large and popular tournament in Columbus, OH on Saturday, November 3rd. Would anyone be interested in going?

Though, granted, I don't have transportation or anything (my parents wouldn't take me all the way to Ohio, just so I could play Smash). So um, yeah, I wouldn't be able to go unless someone had like a van or something, and picked me up.

I'll be moving to West virginia from outside of memphis sometime at the end of november and I was curious if anyone wanted to smash or point me in the general direction of some bi-weeklies or tournaments. Anything at all would be most B itchin' as i'm not looking forward to this move in any way.

2nd EDIT: It'll be around Chester, WV about 227 miles from Charleston. Right up on the northern border between ohio and pennsylvania.

Husband does NOT live in WV. But I'm pretty sure we have people here in Charleston who are nearly as good (though not as well-known because we live in WV).

But to be honest, you might as well look towards Pittsburgh, since that's closer to you. When we go up north for tournaments (Columbus or Pittsburgh), we can definitely meet up.
