Going to Nebulous today in NY! This is my first tournament as well. Thanks for the encouraging guys! :) I'll post the results afterwards.

Guys I got 3rd place in todays gamesVolume tournament sponsored by Nintendo. Over 80 players did compete.
Played every Single Match with Samus and lost to an amazing Mario.
finals were Sheik vs. that Mario, Sheik won.
When they update their facebook Site I can post the details. Top 16 matches were also recorded.
Samus did make it to top 3! *clap*

Btw. from all 81 Players I was the only one using Samus. There were ZSS, Luigis, Sonics, Cpt. Falcons, Sheiks and Diddys all over the place.

Ok the OP has been updated with ChozoX and KayJay results.

Ill be entering my own smash tournament (TGC) this coming Saturday. So many good players are going. im scared. Ill update the OP with my results ASAP



edit: In April, Smash 4 will be 6 months old. I want to do our first official "Samus PR." From there, i will refresh/update the PR every 6 months. Having said that, how should i create this PR? Any ideas?

If there was a tourney scene in my area, I would go. I would like for someone to critique my Samus, but for another time. Seems that Samus is genererally making top 10ish, but do you guys feel it is because of match up knowledge? I feel that speed characters like Falcon and well rounded characters like Mario step all over Samus

Since the game is so new and thus tons of MUs are unexplored, Samus along with many other character will appear to do well. But only at first.

As time goes on she will not do so great because people will begin to learn the MU and focus on top tiers (who all beat Samus solidly).

Nothing much to say about this one, I got wrecked by a Sheik kill setup I didn't know existed. However I did finally play a competent Diddy player, will post a video in the proper thread looking for advice.

My first regional, the only notable thing I did was make it out of pools. I was told not to sleep on the player that knocked me out, but I definitely underestimated them so I deserved it; lesson learned. Still, I was invited into a crew, so I must have impressed someone.

This was definitely the most fun I've had at a tournament. I'm surprised how well Samus does in teams, she's great at ending stocks early off of team mate's hitstun with her spike and charge shot.
I'm more happy about my singles games however. I got ended in vanilla after facing two Sheiks in a row, but that ended up helping me in customs since I faced one of them again and won. I had never beaten the player before, so it was a huge triumph for me. He kinda blames customs, but I played better because I had a chance to adapt to his playstyle. I think the matchup is one of my failings in bracket. Regardless, I got knocked out by a bad decision against a Lucario. We both were on last stock and he had been throwing fully charged aura spheres at the ledge hoping I'd hop up and get hit. I avoided it the whole match by just using regular get-up but thought maybe he was going to try and mix it up... so I ledge hopped right into one. Lesson learned.

Of course it is. It will be operational until I stop caring about smash 4.


The reason why it's not updated every weekend is because Samus mains are few and far between. Samus is still bad too.

I don't understand why you're so adamant about customs.
You're not gonna count evo for instance? Seems like the community is moving towards being pro customs sooner rather than later and a lot of Tournies are on board with them.

Regardless, I appreciate the effort you make on maintaining this thread and slightly off topic, I'm bummed I haven't seen much gameplay from you on the web

The community isn't moving forward with customs. There are still far far more Events not using customs than those who do. TBH Only a sect few people are doing custom related stuff. It dropped off a lot more after what we saw at AfterShock in Dallas TX a few weeks ago. People saw customs are jank as F.

The official tier list is being made without customs in mind. The patches Nintendo released are messing with non custom moves as a whole. Wifi is no custom. Huge event series like TGC, CEO and Apex don't do customs.


Anyways, this thread will remain custom free. I only want REAL results.

Anyways, I got 9th out of 120 at GatorLan in Gainesville, Florida. 4/18/15. I'll post the thread as soon as it comes up, but the guys didn't event have a smashboards account.

If you can, post the FB event link here and contact the TO and see if you can get the link to the challenge bracket.
